The Cast Noir

This space is reserved for character sheets and profiles of current cast members. If this is your first time in this thread, please post your finished and polished character profile in this thread along with your finished character sheet. Generate attributes the same way you would in normal rules through six sided dice. You should have at least two stats higher than 15 and nothing lower than 9. Anything lower than that, and you can re-roll.

Feel free to ask any questions in the OOC thread and please refrain from posting in the game thread until I'm approved your character.

Character Name: Legan Satterfield
Sex: Male
Age: 21

Description: Not a big guy, maybe 5'4", about 130 pounds. He's not much to look at, but he's used to working outdoors. Mop of bushy red hair and green eyes. Some stubble.

Profession: Bartender, Academic

Other: Legan hates the West. Well, he doesn't hate it, but he doesn't love it, either. He spends too much time on his dad's ranch doing scut work because his good-for-nothing siblings can't be bothered to work. They left the baby of the family home alone to deal with a farm that's too big for the family at times. The ranch was built with having a few extra kids around to help out. Legan works as a bartender on the side to kill the monotony.

Legan is quite well-educated. He has a degree in anthropology from Harvard and studied in Europe, and performed archaeological digs in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. He speaks English, Hungarian, Italian, Cantonese and Russian, and reads Ancient Greek, Latin, Ancient Egyptian, and Ancient Hebrew.

He came back home when he heard that his father fell ill and needed help on the ranch. He's not happy about being home, but such is life. He's trying to convince his dad to sell some of the land and bank the cash, and the older his father gets, the more likely that seems.

He's not bitter or angry at the world, he just wishes that he could get out of here as well (or at least not have to work so much that he could get back to traveling). The bartending keeps him sane and keeps him off the ranch and lets him meet interesting men and women. He spends as much time in the library as possible, as well.

Character Name: James "Jim" Ernest Mackelroy
Sex: Male
Age: 51
Build: Tough Hero 4/Soldier 2
Occupation: Military

Description: Aged, but far from losing his touch. Jim is a tall, foreboding fella, well built, and well maintained, for his age. His face is weathered, many-times creased with wrinkles, while retaining strong, chiseled features. He sports vibrant green eyes show a vigor that should be gone in many on the downward slope of life, and a grey-white beard and mustache, full and neatly trimmed. His clothing is simple: Scuffed, tarnished riding boots, black dungarees, a simple leather belt, cotton shirt, and a fine blackened leather vest, over which rests his navy blue army tunic, left open and informal, and missing all the decor save gold buttons and his cavalry patches, necessary to keep a man warm in the cold night, and looking sharp in the heat of the day. He wears a flat-brimmed, flat-topped, black 'boss of the plains' style hat. Holstered at his side is a single Remington 1858.

His background is fairly unremarkable. He had an agrarian upbringing, working on his father's farm for most of his young life with his mother and two sisters. He volunteered for service in the war down South (Mexican-American war or it's setting equivalent) and served with distinction. In the aftermath, Jim tried his hand at many trades, but often found them to be too boring, too difficult, or too stable for his own liking. He bounced around the East looking for work, never finding the peace of mind to settle down and start a family. At the outbreak of the Civil War, even he was hesitant to enlist, given the gravity of the war itself. But enlist he did, in the western front (Center of the nation, NOT the frontier). After the war, having come through without a scratch, miraculously, he once again found it difficult to cope with sedentary life. And so he struck west.

Profession: Ex-Soldier. Jim served in the Civil war from 1863 to 1865, serving in the XIV corps, Army of the Cumberland in Colonel John Wilder's mounted infantry. He fought in such Battles as Chickamauga and Lookout Mountain, in which he served with distinction, along with the rest of the unit. It was this experience which led to him favoring combat from horseback, and gave him a proficient use of repeating rifles, which was a favored weapon of Wilder's brigade, as well as being emotionally accustomed to killing. Jim served for several years after until he was honorably discharged from service. However, he felt as if he had outlived his purpose, with no enemy to fight, and the East having become relatively peaceful, at least for an army-man. So he packed up and headed west, to the lawless frontier where one's gunhand could be more important that the amount of paper in his wallet, or the title in front of his name. Initially, he hunted and skinned game for money, but, he heard of a small town that needed a hand keeping the rabble from becoming trouble, and he figured that a man who's killed is as good as any other to mete out punishment.

Other: Personality-wise, Jim is unscrupulous in how he approaches a situation. Extreme force is acceptable for even the most minor of offenses, and those he helps could be asked to pay for services rendered in cash or goods. His moral based is skewed, but is, at its foundation, solid. He doesn't care how it gets done, the end justifies the means. He drinks heavily, though for no apparent reason to anyone he knows. If he is drowning troubles, he won't share it. Jim has a mount and riding equipment, as well as his Spencer 7-shot rifle, and a cavalry saber. he is proficient with all, but a 'master' of none. He does excel at using all of his weapons from horseback.

Name: Bea Black
Sex: Female
Age: 24

Description: Bea is a not discrete figure, specially due to her physical attributes. She moves comfortably in a world of men, and that's one of the things she uses the best in her life. She has dark long curled hair and tan skin, big expressive black eyes and a tattoo of a dagger can be seen on her fist.

Profession: Barmaid

Background: Bea came into Spenny one night after one big attack of the Black 5th Battalion. She entered one of the most crowdy and popular bars of the towne and conviced (in her not so ortodox ways) to work there has a Barmaid. People don't get a word from her about her past and as for her job as a maid, so far so good. She uses men to get whatever she wants, but because she knows how they are, she threats them with the dagger she always carries on her right leg, below her skirts, to not be too frolic and go brag about her to the other men.

It is whispered she is one of the Black 5th Battalion soldier's wife, some even say their name (Black) is because of her. Many rumors exist around this misterious woman, and people adopt different versions depending on their opinion over her. She and her husband had a fight and she wants to start a new life? She still works for them, undercover? However it may be, many of them are to afraid to ask her in person, and the Bar Tender doesn't want to even hear about this rumors. She was one of his best 'acquisitions', bringing in a lot of customers, most to get to 'see' her more closely, whatever the reasons may be.

Now she heard the Sheriff's call and she is willing to work for him.

Character:
Occupation: Adventurer (due to her background, barmaid is a temporary occupation for her, to get a place, probably to comfort and hide her own past)
Class: Fast Hero

Name: Seth Harlow
Sex: Male
Age: 25

Description: Harlow does not have a very opposing or intimidating physique, but his gruff nature and steely gaze more than makes up for it. Standing at 6'2 with a medium build, Harlow is most often seen in a long leather jacket with his face hidden by a beat up wide brimmed hat. Harlow sports a gruesome looking scar that runs from the right corner of his mouth and across to his jawline from when he had his cheek slit in his youth. The only other thing of note in his appearance is his eyes - one is mostly green, while the other is predominately brown.

Profession: Bounty Hunter

Background: When Seth was nine years old his family's home in the frontier was attacked by a group of desperadoes who mistook his father for a successful prospector. When the outlaws realized there was no gold to be found, they murdered the Harlow family and burned the property to the ground. Severely wounded, disfigured and left to die, Seth managed to make it to the nearest town where he lived in an orphanage until he was twelve. From that point on Seth left civilization and society behind and struck out on his own, staying with anyone who would have him and performing odd jobs for enough coin to eat.

Seth never forgot the faces of the men who murdered his family, and the burning hatred and desire for revenge is perhaps what steered him toward the life of a bounty hunter. Known simply as Harlow now, his has carved a name for himself in the blood of countless outlaws and fugitives, quickly gaining a reputation as a man who was willing to get the job done, no matter the cost.

Character Name: Quick Draw Jartta Owens
Sex:Female
Age: 23

Profession: Straight up Bounty hunter, criminal at times, and hired gun

Description: She has straight light brown hair, that nearly melts away into her golden skin. Despite her gender, she's oddly muscled, and surprisingly quick with a gun. The gun itself, dubbed the reaper, is of some black metal, which turns out to be oddly strong but light (made by Jartta herself). There is a second gun, but she never uses it. Legend has it, that if ever she uses the second gun, she could kill a whole town in seconds out of madness. Generally she's found wearing a torn tan trench matched by her duster, along with a simple sand swept white shirt and black pants. Her face must have been quite beautiful back in the day, but now it bares a scar the streams over her right eye. Some days she will even style her hair in front of it.

Background: Her parents died off young. Not terribly unusual in these times. Since then its just been Jartta and her sister Tara. It was surprising how they found themselves always in the heat of danger. It seemed like ever since the first day the got off the train to Carson city, they ended up in every kind of situations. It was always difficult being a woman in the lawless west. The two of them dealt with things a little differently. Tara was always the type to talk her way out of anything, and the pair of long legs she had never hurt either. She used a combination of misdirection and intelligence to slip by danger, while Jartta took a bit of a more direct approach. Jartta was more of the type to slip out of danger by having the target looking through the barrel of the gun before he even took a breath. Jartta was possibly the fastest gun there was, and her gun never jammed. Soon she earned the name Quick draw Owens and her sister gained the name Silver Slick Tara. Finding that fighting was their calling, they soon turned to the life of bounty hunters (although they were open to just about any job). Together they were dubbed the Tempest of the West.

They rarely asked questions, just in, out, and get paid. Some jobs they did together, others they went their separate ways. They would ofter regale each other with the great money they stole, or the kills they made, but this all changed when Jartta was hired by an unknown employer in another city, and Tara was left behind. When Jartta reached the operation location, she found no one there. It was a trap! Surrounded on all sides were Black 5th Battalion gunmen. It was a close call, but she made it out of there...well most of her anyway. She lost an eye in that fight, and she was forced to return to her sister with the deformity.

In returning home, Tara was nowhere to be seen, and she didn't turn up the next day either. Tara would never have left for a distant job without at least telling Jartta, even if she was in another city. Jartta looked through the place to see if there was any sign of where Tara went, and she eventually found an envelope written in the script of the mystery employer, who was somehow linked to the Black 5th Battalion set up and the attempt of capturing the Tempest of the West.

Now she looks to the 5th for answers, and they better have them.

Personality: Jartta has a somewhat harsh disposition. She's stone hard when it comes to talking to her, keeping her temper in check. The only person she really gets along well with is her sister, and is generally better natured when she is around. Sometimes a joke will be told, but usually its more insulting than anything else. She can hold her liquor and gamble like any other man can, and she hates it when she looked down for being a woman. Die hard pessimist, and thus naturally distrusting (especially towards men). Has a soft spot for kids, and gentle things though.

Character Name: Jack "Jackie" Church
Sex: Male
Profession: Sheriff of Spenny

Description: Distant and cold to most anyone he meets save for a handful of close friends, Sheriff Church has becomes something of an infamous figure in the Spenny township over the last year. He has chiseled, strong southern features with short black hair and squinty, narrow black eyes. Church tries to keep his face clean shaven, usually wearing a 5 o'clock shadow. He dresses lightly in black, usually wearing a short riding jacket, trousers, gloves, and his hat, sporting an Apache war feather. Fiercely intelligent and stubborn to a point, Church employs his experience in the infantry and time spent as a hunter and dog soldier in the Apache tribes in his law-enforcement. With the 5th slowly creeping in and taking over sections of Spenny, turning the town against him, Church's resolve has become equally steadfast and steely, leaving him a man of very few words and many actions.

Jackie Church, as he was known in the town during his time spent as a deputy in Spenny, came from a troubled background. The son of a poor plantation farmer, the first eight years of his life were tough on him, having to endure his father's grief over losing his mother in childbirth alone. Rendered unable to fight due to injuries sustained in the War, his father's drinking and self-destructive behavior ended up getting him killed in a petty duel between feuding households. At age 15, orphaned, young Jack was taken into custody of the State, which immidiatly drafted him into the infantry.

An outstanding soldier and natural marksman, Church thrived in training and earned himself several promotions before the age of 18. By 20 he was a Rear Corporal, fighting as a dragoon for the Confederacy. Fighting in pitched combat in areas of the heaviest conflict near the end of the war, Jack was eventually wounded at the battle of Lookout Mountain and left for dead, pinned beneath his horse. If it weren't for a passing group of Apache hunters, he would certainly have been a feast for the crows. Fitting that the native elders upon receiving him named him "Wounded Crow", a name that would stick with him during those years before the war's end.

Little over two years ago, Jackie gave up his life with the Apache to return to the world of the white man, traveling west where he would eventually come to sign on with the local law enforcement as a Deputy in Spenny county. The pre-war period was hands-down the worst time to decide to become a deputy, however, and as negative forces such as the 5th Battalion began staking claims in Spenny and gradually assuming control, practically every other deputy had fled the coop, deciding that it wasn't worth dying over this town. Eventually even the Sheriff himself decided it was best to leave town, and even against his wishes to follow, Church remained. Left as the only one to assume control of law-enforcement, Church and his deputies have been at Cold War with the 5th for most of the year. Soon things in town will turn explosive, and the Sheriff is looking for anyone willing to lay down their lives in its defense.
