Of course mercenaries are not trusted here. Its not uncommon for a place to be weary of people such as that while they are recovering from an attack. Bart thinks quietly to himself. Still, it does seem rather biased.

Zem sighed deeply. "Well, I did a bit of research. The Twin's had managed to capture Mirith's Royal Wizard, and that's no easy feat. He's a much stronger man than I, and the magic he uses… Anyway, I helped track the man down and Birek went in there all by himself and rescued him. My research turned up a bit more information that I… Well, it's private, at the least."

Indeed, I didn't expect you to divulge every secret you carry. I'd actually be concerned if you did. Bart thinks for a moment. He looks to Annlee to see if she recognizes his reference of ' the twins ' then turns his attention back to the individual.
__________________I apologies if I should know who they are, but the ' twins ' that you speak of, who are they and how did they capture someone as powerful as that? and as if on a second thought, " I know your technically a prisoner and all, and I know your name because it was announced, but forgive me for not formally introducing myself. I am Bartholamew Ractshur, Holy Paladin of Heironeous. Bart states his title quite plainly, as if stating a fact and not for show. Bart looks to Annlee, as if to expect her to introduce herself on her own. Last edited by Barrowss; 06-15-2010 at 05:31 PM. |

After the initial thrill of meeting a supposed mercenary, only to find out he is rather down to earth, Annlee had quickly grown bored. She let the men blabber on while she busied herself with counting the bricks and finding faces in the dust. Then she noticed Bart looking at her, and she started forward off the wall. "Oh, yeah. I'm Annlee. I think that's all you'll really need to know," she giggled and shrugged, "I'm not as important as Barty over there."
She walked a step forward, "But here's a question. Why can't we all just get along, huh? I mean, what's Birek got that Vaup doesn't? Other than locking you up in a big cage, of course," she grinned and tilted her head, "Why not say you're sorry and join up with us, huh?" |

Zem sighs at your lack of recognition of The Twins. "That's one of the things about Vaup. Only tells you what you need to know. The Twins, Rasha and Varsha, are the scourges of The Mainland. They lead an army of less intelligent humanoid creatures against the various civilizations on the continent, and just because Vaup hasn't yet been hired to help, you don't know a thing about it."
As the two of you introduced yourself, Zem stepped back and took a sweeping bow. "I am Zemarys Stormbrow, solo mercenary extraordinaire. Now, what does Birek have that Vaup doesn't? A heart, for one," he said, chuckling. "Honestly, Vaup is strengthening Marali economically, only sending her army out when there is ample compensation available, but that doesn't exactly foster friendly feelings with the other cities. You see what I mean?" |

A pleasure Mr. Stormbrow. Bart pauses for a moment to consider a thought. So, if you and Birek rescued the Royal Wizard from the twins, am I to assume that the twins are no longer an issue?

Annlee shrugged, folding her arms and looking back down the hall. "I don't see the problem," she stated before going back to counting dust mites while the conversation switched back to the overtly political.

Zem smiles at your projected naivety regarding the Twins. "Taken care of? Those two? Not hardly. Birek and I broke into where Beleth was being kept. It was heavily guarded, but not by the Twins."
At your second question, he chuckled. "Even if I had been here to take out Vaup, do you really think I would admit it? No, I was here restocking because Birek's camp doesn't have everything I need. When I was arrested, I was having a drink with a couple of old friends. That is all." |

Restocking you say? Bart thinks for a moment. How many men are in Birek's camp? And if you dont mind my asking, where is it? Bart asks plainly and straightforward, honestly not expecting to get a straight answer for either of those questions.

Annlee rolled her eyes at Bart's "tactic" for information gathering. She turned back and dropped much of her bubbly face with arms still folded, "Look, maybe we can help each other out, hm? We can put in a good word for your restocking claim, and perhaps you could get us a meeting with Birek at his camp. We're citizens of Marali first, and while we pledge loyalty to Vaup--Birek's men should be protecting the city and not bouncing around the woods for minor prideful boasting and political struggles. We'd like this to end well for the city, regardless of who is holding the reins." She smiled wide at the end.

Zem shook his head at Bart's bluntness and total disregard for diplomatic tactics. "Really? That's the best you can do? Well I'll give you something. Birek's camp is getting larger every day. Commoners and soldiers alike are joining up with him, though there are more of the former doing it. As for where? Nice try."
"Birek's men aren't protecting the city. They're protecting the whole of Oberin, or at least they're trying to," Zem said, looking at Annlee. "Vaup's doing great when it comes to handling what the city needs. There isn't a single Maralian soldier outside of this continent, though. There aren't any assisting Mirith with the lizard threat. There aren't any helping in the search for the Twins. There aren't any in Andris helping to weed out those cultists. Every single one is right here." Zem laughed, apparently coming to some kind of funny conclusion. "That's the major difference between the two. Birek functions on principle. Vaup doesn't." He waved you away then, moving back into the back of his prison. "If you want to meet Birek, then go join up with him. You're not going to find anything out about him sitting around here." |
