Don't have much experience with the site as of yet, but I like seeing the effort put in here to help those new to both the game and the site.

I think (just from observation so far) that there should be an easier way from players to tell the difference between: Games that are starting and taking apps; Games that are in process but need new player/s; and games that are not taking apps anymore.

While sometimes it is relatively easy for one to distinguish, I have had some trouble with a few. Yet again, that may just be my noobosity speaking.

I have to agree on all counts with KnightHumanus. I am very new to the site and thus my opinion means zilch but the organization of games while straight forward, (rules set, homebrew, alphabetical etc.) is also quite dense. Due to the linear nature of posting in an active forum community things tend to get buried fast. I don't know the first thing about coding but it doesn't seem like it would be that difficult to create simple flags or tags for game threads etc. similar to the RPXP markers on peoples sig that track and indicate what state or phase a game is in. This could be a click-able search option so we nooeewbs could sift through this rich and sometimes overwhelming community. My apologies if something like this already exist and I so new as to not have noticed it.

I also really appreciate roaddog41 comments on spending some time on your "player looking for game" advertisement and character concepts as a way to get into games. This is definitely the road I'm heading down and while it may seem a little lonely at first to us young wyrmlings, you can see all the footprints that came before you and know something exciting is just over the horizon.

the "Players seeking" and "DM seeking" threads are the best places to go. Each game has its own thread, and looking at the last post should tell you if they are still accepting.

Hi ! Very helpful thread. Thanks for putting this together.
I've been looking for a System Reference Documents link for 4E (the link on the original post is for 3.5). Is there any on this site?

Thanks again !

Currently the 4e "SRD" is just a table of contents. WotC has determined that none of the actual rules are OGL.

Being a new member i found all of this very helpful. The section on players looking for games gave me a good idea of where to put myself out there and what people are looking for. Thank you.
