Also - another game I'm trying to get off the ground desperately needs players. If anybody's interested in an adventure steam/punk game involving dinosaurs, check out Dinotopia. You'll find a lot of similarities between it and this game in terms of its feel. If anyone's interested, you can just make a character, don't worry about running it past me first. Spread the word to your friends if you're so inclined, as well! |

I was actually looking at the ad for Dinotopia earlier today. I'll see if I can come up with something.

My sheet is pretty much ready. I linked it to the character name in the "cast" thread.
Thoule the Mongol. |

While it would be nice to collaborate, it might not be a good idea for whoever I'm working with. Since the character I had in mind would be going into Frenzied Berserker, which is pretty much the least party friendly class ever written. I normally wouldn't try it in a conventional game, but since if it goes the way it has previously, there should be some room for my character to be working on their own.
__________________Of course, if you're strongly opposed to it then I could take something else, like Bear Warrior maybe. They're both in Complete Warrior. Sorry I'm running a bit behind Still and Peter. I know what I want to play, I just need to find some time to write it up and put a sheet together. I'll try and have it done by the time you're ready to start things up. |

Don't worry Genius, I haven't set any deadlines or anything, you don't have to worry about coming up with a sheet right away. Still and Peter have just always been eager when it comes to things like this, I notice. xD Not complaining at all, by the way, boys.
A berzerker is far different from a ranger in terms of class variation, so I think if you both want barbarian roots that wouldn't be that much of a stretch at all. No need for either of you to switch or change if you don't wanna. |

So, I spent most of my gold buying elemental spells so I could gain elemental mastery according to the rules in the Oriental Adventures book. Then I looked in the Complete arcane and saw those rules had been changed. The C.A. Wu Jen gains elemental mastery automatically at 6th level for one chosen element. The Oriental Adventures book gains it whenever the Wu Jen buys/acquires all the spells of a given elemental group. I see advantages to both and honestly don't know which one I prefer.
__________________The C.A. version is simpler and seems more in line with 3.5 rules. One need not buy lots a lots of spells they may or may not want just to gain the spell mastery. This enables the character to have more diverse spells and still gain mastery over one elemental school. Whereas the O.A. one seems cumbersome and more like 3.0 rules. However, the O.A. version allows you to master an element earlier, (provided you can afford the spells) and seems more flavorful. You need to work hard to study up enough of the spells to gain true mastery over the school. If you let your studies slack off as you gain levels, you loose your mastery. You can also gain mastery in as many elements as you take the time to learn, (buy enough spells - gain another mastery). I like the logic and feel of that better, it is more organic. It is also more of a pain-in-the-butt, but shouldn't mastering magic be a little difficult? What say you oh mighty DM, which Wu Jen rules should I be following? If I had to choose, I'd probably go with the Oriental Adventures one, and just hope you give me enough gold or treasure in game to afford to keep up the mastery by learning the required spells as I go up in levels. I like the idea of him being master of both earth and metal. As a DM, however, I might choose the C.A. version, because my guess is it is the most current one. Just checking back in. I'm going to put up a new information thread sometime soon that will have some new campaign setting information. I'm going through with the prequel idea, so hopefully we can get everybody together again and get things underway soon.

I am looking to potentially join a few new games, so I am going through my older ones trying to de-cutter my subscriptions. This game has been dead for a while, but you say you intend to bring it back. The problem is I can't join another game because if this one gets going again, I'll have too many.
__________________I don't want to be in games where I'm just sitting around hoping it starts someday while unable to join ACTIVE games. That just means I'm not playing anything and that is frustrating. So, I need a time commitment from you, a date that you intend to re-activate this game and continue. That or I need you to tell me that the game is dead so I can start the grieving and healing process .

Grieving process started. I'm out. If this game ever gets going, you'll have to PM me if you'd like me to join because I'll no longer be checking these threads.
