The edges where the tusks have been removed have small grooves in them that look as though they came from a saw. Other than the blood that is soaked around the ground by the boar there is no sign that there is any life around. The forest is as still as death.

Krusk stares at the remains before whispering We go now? Krusk want protect lady stuff. Krusk waves his greatsword around and starts staring at the blade while he waves it. Krusk want go! Krusk want go! Krusk continues to repeat those words until the others start walking away with him.

"Yes, Krusk, let's keep moving... though I wonder who--or what--might have killed this creature and taken its tusks..."

Still, at least I can rely on Krusk to "Krush" anything that might stand in our way. Let's just hope we're up to the task! Sighing inwardly, he hurries along to catch up with his fellows. |

Some hunter’s dirty remnants, he thought to himself. Dmitri had rubbed proverbial elbows with enough merchants and collectors to know that if tusks were the prize, the rest would be left to rot. The state of the corpse has no real meaning for the scholar, probably just forest creatures eating the dead. His eyes continually scanned the road ahead still, more out of habit than genuine concern. Had this been an ambush, the enemy had chosen a highly peculiar bait.
__________________He stood aside while the others took a closer look, and took the opportunity to wipe his brow with a silk handkerchief. Taking a pull of water from the skin on the cart, he offered a slight nod at Krusk’s inquiry before stepping confidently back on their path. "Some young hunter, no doubt. Intent on some barbaric decoration, I've known collectors to pay a worthy fee for carved tusks. No offense, my friend." Last edited by Fierce Falcon; 04-27-2011 at 12:57 PM. |

"Indeed--no one is likely to come after your "tusks" Wafflebert says, and playfully points at Krusks' large tusk-like incisors.
__________________"And, again, I agree--let's keep going. There may be some specific uses for boar tusks, but I don't know of any that make this find particularly noteworthy." Wafflebert seems pleased by his friends' confidence, his own levity returning as he smiles and begins to softly hum a traveling tune. |
