Can i suggest a quick ret-con? Maybe it would be better if Warrick stayed with Ven at the tower, and Grunatharl came with the others. That way we don't have to bother with secret text, and Oruvias doesn't have to wait while any encounters happen?

Well, I kinda threw that part in for you to get to have something to do since the ball is pretty much totally in Ven's court, and has been for a while. So if you want Oruvias to go along with this too, I'm cool with that. Just wanted to give you the chance to play a bit. So I thought I'd let Oruvias weigh in on it.

Yeah I'd be okay with switching Grü and Warrick, kind of thought some stuff would be happening with Ven though

Yeah, the scrying takes time and i didn't want to leave Oruvias just waiting around. I'll have my moments when they come, don't worry about carving spotlights out for me.

No, no updates, nothing new, and you're not to blame for things not moving either. To be honest, I haven't planned this all that well. I really only intended to do a couple simple chapters - almost more generic "you walk into a room with 2d10 Frost Giants ..." kind of thing. I hate doing that; not a good story that way. But the original point was to get a couple of new people involved and familiar. They both bailed. So then I wanted to offer to let the game go on anyways because I had already gotten you two excited ... but the thing is, you're already almost caught up to all that I had planned for definite to happen. The rest of the campaign, I have a general sense of what I'd like to happen, but nothing like what it should be. (Especially after reading Oruvias' synopsis; I feel incredibly ill suited to DMing this game without a LOT more work put into it first.)

Hah, don't worry. I had made the same observation myself, that the reason the game was started had bailed and the only survivors are the fill-ins. I tend to make the same mistake too, when i DM. Also, i plan out events in the long term, and neglect to prepare for what happens tomorrow.

umm... where'd I do a synopsis? (looks over some recent posts)

I think he does mean the exile summary. I admit to still not having read it. It was a daunting task to even read, and must have been much more so to create. You make it look difficult

Whoa! I totally missed those last two posts in here for some reason. I guess I just misread the thing in my Favorites list as being in a different thread, and thought I'd read it. Yes, I meant the Exile synopsis. I'm not familiar with where-ever you got the setting, but all the work you put into the actual story was very impressive.
__________________All told, I'm going to have to say that yes, I'm going to have to call the game off now. I'm simply "not feeling it" I guess you could say - for whatever reason, I'm just not in the same mental mode I was when I ran tabletop games - I'm having a really tough time coming up with stories. ... maybe my brain is just addled by all this sitting around collecting disability checks, and need some actual human interaction to spark some more creativity. But thank you both for playing along, I'm sorry about this whole thing, although I did have fun while it lasted, I hope perhaps you two too can say the same. |

Well sometimes it's good to have a kind of "refining ground" for characters, what I mean is that even if a game doesn't survive you've given the character a test run and so you know where you made mistakes in designing anything, while I enjoyed the game it also gave me some experience in how to use these characters for future games and make less mistakes in coming up with their personalities
__________________I also agree that it's probably better to DM for table top because then you're also building relationships with people and entertaining each other with your creativity, I pretty much play here because I have no live group, it's possible if I found one I'd just up and leave DnDOG altogether Anyway thanks for running a game, it was fun while it lasted |
