RPG Crossing Quick Start Advice
RPG Crossing Quick Start Advice!
An adventure is only an inconvenience rightly considered. An inconvenience is only an adventure wrongly considered.
Alright then! So you're an experienced Role-Player and/or Game Master, you know all about PBP and now you just want to dive in and play!
Great! If that statement doesn't apply to you though, or you're more inclined to learn all you can before starting, please immediately redirect to the following extensive guides:
Still with us? Great!
So since you're the type to dive right in and get right to it, lets make this quick and short:
Dice & Tag Testing Thread
Important: Some posts (like your introduction thread) do not count towards your post count for the sake of preventing spammers. You will need 4 posts to activate some features like PMs. Posts made in the dice and tag testing thread count towards your post count, so you can make your 4 required posts and get upgraded to a regular member right away.
See the Tools dropdown menu for a large number of other resources like SRD, character sheets and more.
Apply to a New Player Solo Game These are not mandatory but suggested for members new to PBP or RPGs.
Please only apply for D&D 3.5 OR 4e, not both.
View Actively Recruiting Game Advertisements
To start your own game, you can find the tool to request a game under the Tools dropdown menu at the top of your screen. Be sure to have a plan for your game and have first posted an interest check (unless you already have a full play group) in the DMs seeking Players area.
Do you see the guides listed at the top of this threadneed more help?:
I'm Confused (general questions)
Site Discussion (site issues)
v4 Bug Thread (bug reports)
There are also several discussion forums available on a wide range of topics from RPG elements to worldly talk, but please note that all conversation must be kept PG-13 and that this doesn't apply to in-game politics, just real world politicspolitical discussions are not allowed.
Please note the gaming and activity on the site is focused around reading and writing large quantities of text on a regular basis, it is highly recommended that everyone use proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation. If English isn't your native language, know that several web browsers have built in spell check functions, and if yours doesn't, there are similar programs available for free online.
There are also comment save extentions freely available online for firefox and google chrome browsers that will prevent you from losing your posts due to connection timeouts, clerical errors and other issues.
Good luck, and good gaming!
Even if you believe you know everything there is to know, it is still highly recommended that at some point you review the PBP Guides mentioned in the beginning of this thread as those guides were developed by an entire community and represent a collective wealth of information that will help you get the most out of your Play By Post experience. Enjoy!
