I spent a lot of time writing something for this month, but I got to a point yesterday where I had 3100 words and realized that the story wouldn't make any sense or have any plot in fewer than 5000. Not what I expected when I started, but then what I write I rarely control the direction of.

Hey Klazz. I wanted to thank you for putting in the category I wanted and apologize for loosing track and not having the time I had hope to so I could compete. Life is rarely fair but just wanted you to know I was trying and failed.

Well, I've got the first 500 words for a lot of stories laying around and I can't seem to get any of them going. I have another adventure with Thorn of the Skunkapes in the works. So far the set up has eaten up 2/3 of my word count already. I think I'll have 10,000 words written and anly submit the 3,000 word final scene. It's hard to tell a complete story in 3,000 words. It's only 1,000 words for each Act of the play, as it were. My set-up usually runs long and I end up short changed for words in the final scene. Maybe I should write the final scene first...THEN do the intro with only the NEEDED information. My editor complains that too many of my stories read like history books. What do you expect from a teacher with a History degree?

I see the rules state that a story must not have been posted on this site before. I posted one in a game thread for my PLAYERS to see, since i used a small portion as a writing sample in the game advert thread.
