The address you where given leads you to a building in low end merchant area. The building is dark and the door is just off the street. You learn that the area is quiet at night, there are rarely guard patrols and the merchants who use the buildings are typically not afluent enough to afford a night guard. This information costs you 2 gold.

After scoping the place out Kam goes to the market before it closes and picks himself up a Healing Belt (-750gp). This done he wanders the streets till after dark and prepares to pull his caper. Last edited by Qiksilv; 05-14-2012 at 08:55 PM. |

It is now dusk and the darkness closes in as surrounding city blocks the fading sunlight. The street is quiet. The last person you have seen was a good half hour ago.

Kam was eager to stretch his legs after so long waiting for a quiet moment. After making certain that the Spot = 19coast was clear, Kam Hide = 36fades into nothingness and flirts quickly to the door, Move Silent = 9 (nat1)clumsily kicking rocks and dragging tools against the wall as he goes. Upon reaching the door, Kam, Listen = 21listens for any danger Search = 19searches the door for traps and Open Lock = 18attempts to pick the lock Being certain not to put skin to the door, he peers carefully inside. If empty, he slips in and closes the door behind him and tries to ascertain the landscape before him. |

The door does not immediately open but after a few extra moments you are able to pop the lock. You step into the building and close the door behind you. You are in a small room, 20ft by 20ft, with clothing hooks along the walls showing it to likely be some kind of mud room.

Seeing nothing worthwhile in the small room, Kam again checks the door fro traps, listens, opens the lock, and peer inside. Still counting on the invisibility he slips in an closes the door behind him.

You step into the mud room and hear a grating sound as heavy metal portcullises crash down in front of both doors.

Curses. Ok, one step at a time... Attempting to be calm about things Kam searches the room for the trigger and hopefully a way to disengage and reset the trap that had ensnared him. Or perhaps, another way out of the room.

After extensive searching you find a pressure plate trigger for the trap under the floor in the middle of the room. Anyone stepping into the room who doesn't stick to the walls triggers the trap. Even after extensive searching you do not find the reset mechanism. It must be further inside the building.

Not finding any way of reseting the trap Kam looks at the portcullis to see if it can be possibly picked, disconnected, or forced. Searches the room for peep holes or a way someone could see into the room.

You manage to lift the portcullis an inch off the ground before the weight forces it back down. After several minutes of back-breaking work (retrying until getting a natural 20) you manage to get it up high enough to pass under and through the door.
You gain 300 experience. You find a winch on the other side to raise the portcullis. There is a short hallway that bends to the left. |

After reseting the portcullis Kam proceeds slowly down the hallway listening and watching for anything unusual, including doing a more careful sweep for traps. After reaching the door he listens, checks the door, open it and peers inside. Slipping into nothingness he steps inside and closes the door behind him.
