For those who come here and haven't seen the announcements page (if there are indeed any people like that), I wanted to point out the rules for the contest have been revamped. Check 'em out.

Hey Nimlos & co-judges,

I just read the new set-up for the PotM. Great job. This will make it a lot easier to nominate your favorite posts, as you won't have to make a note not to forget to do so the month after

One suggestion: how about increasing the period that nominations are open by just a few days? The issue is that posts made on January 31st aren't necessarily read on that same day; and the next day they aren't eligible anymore (if I read the new rules correctly). If the period for nominating would be from Jan 1st to (for example) February 7th, restricting the posts that can be nominated to January only; that would give people just a bit of time to read (and nominate) those near-the-end-of-the-month posts that would otherwise be "lost" to nomination.

Question: Is there a minimum number of nominations needed to pick a Post of the Month? If there was only a single submission, would they automatically win? Just curious.

JUDGES! Would a character application for a game be a valid post? The rules do state in-game posts only, but I do not recall hearing any clarifications on applications.

If that happens, then yes, that post would win. And we'd have to seriously think about shuttering the contest.

In my post #35 up here I also suggested to keep the contest for a particular month open a bit longer than that month's end. Glad to hear such suggestions are being taken into consideration, as no one had replied to said post
