Kindli sighs and barks, Belnan, take control of your elven friend. There's no point in keeping him around if you're not going to tell him what to do. She adds, Kolik, you won't be able to see them, but you are able to hear them. She continues, Now get in the formation so we don't get separated.
__________________Kolik can already see that Martigan is quite dim. The human is barely visible past all of that black cloud that is the bane of your existances. Neira responds to Martigan, quietly, We want to save that for when we really need it. We don't know how strong these things are yet. During this time, you don't hear any motion going on around you. It's as if that thing that killed the two dogs has disappeared. It's strange that you were being attacked on two ends then you have time to yourself.

Belnan lifts the goggles back atop his head with a disappointed sigh. "No luck. Oh all right, Kindli." He orders the elf to the front of the group (U 23) and tells it to lead the way down the corridor.

Kolik stared into the darkness, apprehension waxing. There were more orcs, he knew, probably observing the group unseen, preparing to strike. After a few false starts he gave up trying to put himself in their adversaries' place, he knew far too little about what resources they had to make any predictions.
The little goblin's lips curled up in a silent snarl and he turned away from the black mist. As surreptitiously as he could, he stuck a hand into his pack and withdrew a potion. A tug and a pop later, he swallowed. The wounds on his back began to close and he sighed with relief.

Martigan walks into the darkness past the light given off by his companions and then back into the darkness so that his lantern will illuminate the area move to V - 24ahead of them.
__________________He closes his eyes and concentrates on that his surroundings are. He kicks a rock underfoot and listens for the rock to land and skitter across the floor like he had done countless times while traveling the roads of his days. He knows where it landed, he can picture it in his mind and all he wants now is to try to activate blind-sensesee it.

As Martigan and Belnan's elf descend upon the left entrance, Kindli screams, You fool! Martigan! You were supposed to guard our backs! As the elf makes it past Kindli, you see an orcish double axe come from the darkness, swinging at the elf. The axe misses, barely. As Martigan stands next to Kindli, he sees the edge of a large, grizzly orc that resembles the orc that already fell.
__________________Just as Martigan comes foward, you all hear another sound from behind you. It grunts and Belnan peeks behind him, only to see some strange fluid fly towards his eyes. None of you can see where the fluid came from, except that it came from behind you, where Martigan just came from. The fluid falls on Belnan's shoulder and seems to sizzle a little. He would have hated to get that on his eyes. The newly revealed grusome orc grunts loudly and speaks, in orcish, Small squishy ones. They hold great power. One is even a servant of the light. With that you see the orc seem to increase in size. Soon after, it swings at the elf, once with the larger side of the orcish double axe, then again with the other side and then a third time with the first side. Each strike takes a large chunk out of the elf's flesh. The flesh falls at it's 43 total damagefeet. At the same time, the dwarf that lead you here raises to his No AoO because Belnan's weilding a ranged weaponfeet. He groans in hunger and looks at Belnan, holding out his empty arms. It looks like he desires to feed on the gnome's flesh. Kindli screams, Martigan, you will be the death of us all! With that, she charges and attempts to plunger her flaming axe into her former companion's skull. At the same time, she attempts to move her body in between Belnan and the black. Her axe impacts with the dwarf's head, causing it to crack but not break. The flames take to the dwarf's body, causing it to ignite in a huge set of flames. Kindli does not worry about dodging and simply uses her shield to waft it away from her. Belnan, on the other hand, feels the heat of the flame take a little of his life away, doing 1 damage. Soon after that, the flames cease to burn on the dwarf's flesh. Neira looks left then right and shakes her head. She takes her hand and places it on Martigan lightly, speaking, The light of the world shall shine upon you and your skills. Let us help you as you fail to help us. With that, Martigan feels a little bit better fully and then also feels like there's something helpful flowing through his Cure minor wounds+imbued healing: 1 HP+7THPveins.

Belnan's eyes go wide as their dwarven guide completes the transformation to undead. The hungry look the dwarf turns on Belnan is more than unsettling, but the gnome brings Ingeborg to bear on him and fires point blank into the dwarf's head. Ingeborg, the bane of the undead, twangs with excitment as she attacks. "Zombie-buddy! Attack that orc!" he yells into the combat.

I'll explain about the dwarf later right now all of you need to get out. I can sense them, 2 of them coming from east and west. one just spit at Belnan. they all seem to be missing an eye.
__________________Get your spells ready. Martigan drops his lantern and grips his sword as he makes a 5 foot step ending at U-24small movement towards the Orc that stands in front of him and the afflicted elf. sounds of straining echo form him until they turn into loud grunts as he begins swinging his blade wildly giving up his accuracy for sheer power at the Orc. IS THIS ALL YOU HAVE?! I'LL KILL YOU ALL!! His blade makes contact but weather or not it has cut the creatures flesh is another matter. rolls.

Kolik could feel the words "What's happening" trying to escape his vocal cords, but as much as he wanted to know exactly what was going on, he didn't want to distract the fighters. Even more pertinent, he didn't want to draw undue attention to himself. Orcs preoccupied with killing Neira and the others were orcs too busy to come and kill Kolik. Perhaps he should just run? He could probably survive alone, seek his fortune in other faraway lands... No, he couldn't leave yet, there was still a score to settle. Besides, he told himself, he wasn't a coward, he was just cautious.
Anyway, it sounded like Martigan had the situation under control, or at least thought he did.

Belnan's strikes, however, skip off the dwarf's shoulder, doing no damage at all. The elf's strike, however, hit the large orc for an impressive 11 damage, causing wounds to open in the orc's arm.
__________________Both of Martigan's strikes hit min AC now 16true. You do good damage to the orc. It seems to be bleeding quite profusely now, but it doesn't seem to be backing down from it's attack of the elf. It doesn't seem to care that Martigan is taking chunks out of it's skin. The orc that you can see keeps on swinging, quickly and effectively at the elf that looks small in comparison to this massive hunk of orcish flesh. The first strike hits true on the elf's shoulder, sending a chunk of flesh towards the hard stone wall. The second strike with the back side of the double axe slices open the elf's chest and the third strike hits just air, doing a total of 27 damage. You all also see another splash of fluid direct itself towards Belnan, seeming to be aiming for his eyes. This time the fluid hits his face. Belnan frantically attempts to wipe the fluid off but it burns. It burns badly. He opens his eyes and realizes that he has lost his vision. He cannot even see the hand in front of I rolled your save. You failed.him. With that, the dwarf lunges out at Belnan, seeming to desire to grab a hold of him. Belnan is weilding a ranged weapon and cannot see, so he gets no attack of opportunity against the grasping creature. The dwarf successfully attaches his body to Belnan's, causing Belnan to feel the hunger of the dwarf underneath him. Neira calls out, I know you're there, small goblin. At least try to help us fell this dwarf even if you don't want to reveal yourself otherwise. She seems a little scared about what's going on here. She sees the dwarf grappling with Belnan next to her and decides that it's time for definitive action. She puts her hand to her chest and you see her eyes light up. She says, in halfling, Bring the light of the world down upon these wretched creatures. With that, you see a force eminate from her body as if there was a hammer that came down at her feet. You see the dwarf basically ignore the force of her smite, only doing 2 damage. The other orc that you can see also seems to ignore it quite effectively, only doing another 2 damage. You also see that the elf seemed to be knocked by the eminance and it appears to be confused, but it doesn't seem to cease it's attack of the orc in front of it. The orc in front of it, however, does appear to be on it's last legs. Kindli, in the meantime, attempts another swing at the reanimated dwarf with her flaming axe. She seems to be frantically swinging at him, hoping that the dwarf with stop moving as soon as possible. Her frantic nature causes her to just barely miss the dwarf with her axe. Martigan looks around seeing everyone but Kolik fighting or doing something to help.
__________________Kolic, so help me if you ran away I'll hunt you down after I kill these things. and here I thought he had some promise in him. Martigan turns and rushes at the dwarf that is pinning Belnan, he brings his sword up ready to strike the orc should he trie to attack him while he has his back turned. He makes it X-24to Belnan and strikes at the dwarf hoping his cut be hard enough to cut through the fallen one and sever his spinal cord. Rolls

As his companions called out to him, Kolik's instinct to flee spiked and he turned to leave. Then some unseen force hit him. He barked, more with the surprise than the pain and felt a new dread come over him as his vision was lost. Immediately he drew his dagger and slashed at the air, just in case. Had they sensed his treachery somehow and done this to him, or was it of orcish design? Either way he was once more plunged into the horror of not seeing. It was a good thing he didn't need much sleep, because if he survived today, he would have persistent nightmares about blindness.
Finally the sneak did what he should have done two minutes ago. He recalled the red mist and how he sensed the others despite not seeing. With as much deliberation as he could muster, he willed himself to sense them again.

Belnan writhed in both physical pain at the burning substance on his eyes and the mental one of being engulfed in a darkness that he might not ever recover from! Ahhh!!!! he suggests to his companions. "AaAAAhhh!" he berates the dwarf. He drops to the ground and calling on his power, he focuses a mental image of the dwarf in his mind and casts magic missile in the direction he had last seen the dwarf.

Kolik and Belnan instantly feel like their senses are heightened. They each can see the dwarf grappling with Belnan clearly. You can all also sense the orc that's standing slightly down the hall, even Kolik, who is around the corner. You can see that the orc looks just like the others: large, muscle bound, and seeming to be missing one of it's eyes. It weilds a small buckler and a hefty orcish double axe.
__________________Belnan and Martigan can also see Kolik clearly standing there, neither fleeing nor coming to your aid. No one seemed to notice that Kolik also responded to the holy smite. Kolik's vision quickly clears. Martigan's strike of the dwarf succeeds, doing good damage. You knock a piece of flesh off the dwarf's frail body. Belnan succeeds in concentrating enough to let off his magic missle attack, causing 4 bolts to delve deep into the dwarf's flesh. The dwarf seems to attempt to wrestle with Belnan more, attempting to lunge towards Belnan's neck with clasping jaws, but there is no success. Belnan, in his gnomish might, somehow avoids the attack of the stronger dwarf. The orc seems to be watching how you all respond to the battle between the small gnome and the fiendish zombie on top of him, trying to feed of the gnome's flesh. He juts the buckler out towards Martigan's direction and Martigan sees some darts fly off towards his head. Martigan deftfully dodges the strike with no problem at all. The orc shakes his buckler, seeming to wonder why it's not working. Kindli swings her flaming axe towards the dwarf and it connects again with it's head, causing the dwarf's head to temporarily burst into flames. The flames don't seem to catch the full body though. Kindli seems to be happy that her strikes are continuing to do good 27 totaldamage. Kindli grunts and sounds frustrated as she adds, Kolik, you better get over here and join on the beat down. We rushed into this to help you, so you better come help us help Belnan. She doesn't even seem to look up at all as she says that. She just expects Kolik to come over and join in. Neira points her crossbow directly down towards the dwarf and takes aim. She shoots a bolt directly into the dwarf's shoulder, but it only does 3 damage. The dwarf seems to be losing flesh at an alarming rate. The creature is bleeding profusely, but it seems to still have quite a bit of "life" in it. Last edited by Magnai; 05-31-2012 at 11:45 PM.
