He keeps his guard up after the last attack from the orc's tiny shield rather then relying on his karmic strikes though his rage still hinders his ability to protect himself. lafter his hits makes contact he slowly turns to the orc down the East corridor. he raises a finger at the beast and slowly walks 5 feet in his direction, his sword rests in one hand with the tip scraping along the floor and muffled by the screams of those who are blinded. with his eyes still closed he laughs maniacally you are next pumpkin, and don't worry, I'm not gonna kill you for quite a while...... and no one is going to stop me his neck creaks to the side looking at Kindli and Neira then back to the orc. his last words come out rough and growled. nooooo one...... rolls |

It was torrent of relief when proper vision returned, the extra sense was a nice bonus. Kolik could finally know what it was he reacted to and act properly.
'Help Belnan'. There was a suggestion to which Kolik would like to make some vehement protests, but he sensed he was running short on good will and said nothing. He rushed into the cave and magical darkness. Belnan however, seemed to be surrounded by people better suited to helping him than the sneak was. Instead he faced the third orc, standing poker-faced over the fallen one with dagger raised. "If you wait for us to be ready, that's a mistake," he stated in perfect- if rather high-pitched- orcish, and instantly regretted the challenge. |

Pinned against the wall with the smelly undead dwarf wrapped around him, Belnan has his only free hand jammed up into the dwarf's chin, trying to keep the fetid teeth from sampling his own flesh. His eyes still stung, he couldn't see his attacker, and the staff he had strapped to his back was digging into his back in a most uncomfortable fashion. All in all, it wasn't turning out to be a very good day! With a miniature roar of frustration, the gnome shoves at the dwarf, trying to break away from the beast...

Martigan's second strike hits true, knocking a good portion of flesh off the dwarf.
__________________Belnan barely manages to escape the clutches of the dwarf, causing the dwarf to falter back, leaving itself open to attacks of opportunity as it fails to hold onto Martigan has an extra strike at the beginning of his turn as an AoOBelnan. Kindli swings at it and misses. She curses under her breath. The dwarf takes a fist and swings it at Belnan, socking him in the shoulder. Belnan does not get an opportunity to respond to the unarmed attack because he is weilding a ranged weapon. The orc standing in the darkness looks around, seeming to be confused. It doesn't seem to know how you could possibly see it and threaten it. It juts the shield out towards Kolik or Martigan, you can't tell. Martigan feels a small force coming towards his eyes but moves his head without thinking about it much and nothing seems to happen. The orc then turns and makes it's way deeper into the cavern and turns a corner, making him disappear. You sense that he's still close. Neira quickly sees that the dwarf is standing right next to her and quickly moves over to the other side, right behind Kolik. She doesn't worry about the dwarf attacking her because she sees that he does not have any weapons in his hands. She then turns an shoots a bolt at the dwarf. The bolt delves deep into his chest, causing him to cough up a small amount of fluid that you'd hesistate to call blood. It's too dark and has tinges of green in it. Kindli walks over past Belnan and swings again at the dwarf's head, really hoping that this time it'll get lobbed off. Her strike impacts, causing good 10+8+4damage and, this time, the dwarf bursts into 1 extra damageflames. Martigan and Kindli successfully step back and dodge the inferno but Belnan fails to jump out of the way and gets his eyebrows singed for 3 damage. Belnan's elf ends up standing there, not doing anything. Kindli sighs in joy. At least it's not turning and attacking everyone at random, increasing the number of opponents again. The orc to the west seems to gurgle and choke on it's fluids and then cease to make noise. You also notice that the orc that was killed by Neira's ray of light has not moved at all. It appears that the dwarf is having difficulty standing. A good knocking by Martigan, Neira or Kindli would likely cause him to fall to the ground. Last edited by Magnai; 06-03-2012 at 02:26 PM. |

Martigan swings swings hard as the dwarf tries to right its self. The blade finds its target and cuts deep.
__________________Martigan tries to nat 1...... +10strike at the dwarf again, but his movements are a bit sluggish as he strikes. He moves over to belnan, rubs his ring and smacks the gnome in the back of the head healing him 3 dmg. he cares not if the dwarf is still up and believes some one else will handle the creature. when I say run. you run. The fear of being blind was subsiding into a dull writhing mothball in the pit of his gut now, allowing the gnome's mind to focus a bit better. The noise had decreased significantly as the last orc's grunts and bellows were silenced, so Belnan guessed that they were down for the count. The crackle of flame, heat on his face, and foul stench of burning rot told him that likely the dwarf was now half torch, so for his companions, at least, the battle seemed to be going well! Martigan yells for him to prepare to run. "Marty, I can't see! How am I supposed--" A thought strikes him, and he grins. Letting the heat of the flames guide his decision, Belnan backward, away from the heat. "Zombie-buddy! Come over here and put me on your shoulders!" Belnan flails about some until he feels a pair of cold hands grab him and lift him up. Soon, he is riding atop the shoulders of his undead "friend" and he takes a moment to load Ingeborg with another bolt, though he is not so foolish as to fire it blindly when his friends are so close.

Kolik started after the retreating orc, but stopped shortly after traversing the fallen one. He didn't want it to have time to fetch reinforcements, but neither did he want to go after it alone. He settled for a taunt: "Honorless coward!" he shouted, but not too loud... Perhaps it would come back. Orcs set store by bravery and so-called 'honor' he knew, although generally only when other orcs could see. They were wise enough to know that without witnesses, there were nobody who could contradict your account of heroic battle prowess. Kolik on the other hand would gladly challenge it to a duel and then get his companions to swarm it as soon as it was advantageous. He was a goblin after all. Bravery or cowardice didn't exist, there was only survivors and corpses.
Of course, orc society was much more competitive than the inner workings of a goblin tribe. Goblin tribes, by necessity, were cooperative and surprisingly democratic. A tribe with inner conflict or scruples about fighting dirty never survived. With a look back at the others he continued after the orc, falling easily into his habits of stealth. He needed to use this extraordinary visions while it lasted and see if this damnable fog ended somewhere close. |

Kolik stealthfully descends into the black, strangely comfortable with the blackness around him. He can tell that his normal vision doesn't work, but he can still feel that the passageway ends around 20 feet in front of him. It then turns and continues for a bit. Unfortunately, he cannot sense the orc's presence around the corner. The orc must have fled around the corner far enough that Kolik couldn't sense him anymore.
__________________Back by the carnage, Martigan's strike slices clean through the dwarf. The corpse falls to the ground and instantly is engulfed in the flames that are still burning from the last round. There is little left behind that reminds you of the spirit that was your sick dwarven companion. Both Kindli and Neira look towards Belnan, who's eyes still burn from the fluid in them. His elven companion picks the gnome up, causing the gnome's limbs to flay in every which direction. The gnome and Martigan can tell that no one is immediately around the corner. They can also sense that Kolik is pursuing the orc that blinded Belnan to the right. Kindli states, Belnan, try to get that fluid out of your eye using your clothing. You might be able to clear it without spells... She pauses, I hope. Kindli walks towards the edge of Martigan's lamp, still lying on the ground, lit. The heavily armoured dwarf puts her flaming axe down, still flaming. The flames light up the area immediately surrounding the weapon but not more than 1 foot out. It looks like if she swung, she'd be able to see something but she couldn't walk by the light of the weapon. She begins to rifle through the corpse of the second orc that fell. You see her pick up the orcish double axe and look at it quizzically before putting it in her backpack. She seems to ignore the buckler for now. Looking behind her, she adds, We can use this opportunity to regroup and heal up. It's likely that this was just the welcoming party. Neira watches Kolik disappear into the night and stays quiet. She looks down the hall to the right, wondering if she should leave the others behind or if she should follow their goblin friend down the passageway. It'd be bad if Kolik got into another predicament all alone. The others seem to be relatively comfortable with their position here. Martigan and Kindli can both handle things on their own and Belnan has the elf as a meat shield, as long as it stays under his control. |

Martigan grabs the orc by any limb while still in his rage and tries his best to drag the creature out of the cave. He continues to speak in a rough voice as he strains with the bodies. I'm gonna need help to get these 3 bodies out of the cave and please don't burn them......

Hearing Kindli's advice, Belnan grabs his water flask and pours water straight into his eyes in copious amounts, wondering briefly if he deluge would bother he undead zombie upon whose shoulders he sat. Then he frantically wiped at his eyes with the corner of his shirt, looking around hopefully.

"Stupid smoke, will you end?!"
The goblin continued along the cave, painfully aware of how reckless it was. The retreating orc was certainly either setting up a welcome party or fetching reinforcements. Either way, it meant that Kolik would soon be in trouble. Traps was also a major concern; this darkness was perfect for them and Kolik wondered why there had been guards instead. Well, he'd turn back the moment normal vision was possible again. He'd turn back soon whether he reached the end of the fog or not. "Please end." |

As Belnan clears his eyes, his sight returns to him. He looks around and sees the gruesome wounds on the elf and Kindli intently looking into his eyes, standing right in front of him Kindli sees the fluid clear and asks, Any lasting effects? They still work? Her face seems quite concerned. You can see the flaming axe still on the ground, seeming to burn slight embers still.
__________________The orc that lies next to you looks absolutely huge. He's got to weigh around 250 lbs. Kindli bends back down and touches the buckler that the orc was wielding. Belnan sees a darkness come around her hand and then dissipate. Kindli puts the buckler into her backpack and looks back, seeing Neira standing all alone and Martigan no where in sight. She sighs and says, We really need to listen to each other. In other situations, a mistake like that is going to get us all killed. I really don't have faith in that Martigan. He's hurting us more than he's helping us. You realize that she's not really talking to you as much, but more talking to herself and the air. Kindli looks at Belnan and asks, You want to take the mad one's lantern for now. We'll regroup where we all can see. Neira stands very still, only moving to allow Martigan to go start dragging the huge corpse out of the dark area. She doesn't say anything and seems to be trying to listen or wait for something. Martigan is able to drag it quite well due to his impressive raging strength. He is able to drag the corpse all the way out into the light, but only just barely. Looking down at the corpse, it appears that the orc isn't carrying anything except the weapons that it was fighting with. It's skin is covered with scars from many battles. It doesn't seem to care about the appearance or health of it's body much. You can distinctly see that it's left eye has been gouged out. As Kolik makes his way down the passageway, he makes it to a corner. He "looks" around the corner and sees nothing except another corner, turning deeper into the cavern. As he was walking quite silently, he did hear some steps running away from his direction, but they seemed to be getting away from him quite a lot faster than he was moving forward. |

Martigan grabs the dead orc and drags it into the light looking it over. he walks back to the group and looks at them all. The orc that ran was spitting in your eyes, and he shot something from his buckler, I'm not sure what it was but I know it can't be anything good. A shield that can do that must be forth a pretty copper. I'm sorry for running up but I had a really bad feeling and thought you could use the extra light. I think you 2 in the front should have the lantern, its not going to do me any good right now. He turns to the east direction. I think we better get the goblin before he gets himself killed. I may put you in harms way but I assure you, I won't let you die till my debt is repaid. Last edited by Evil Pie; 06-07-2012 at 12:16 AM. |

Kolik turned back. Running into the reinforcements was not something he was willing to risk, especially not when he couldn't see to hide properly and the enemy had extraordinary means of spotting him. Besides, he didn't know how long this extra sense of his would last, and losing it while in this darkness was too dreadful to contemplate.
He arrived back with the group at a hustle. "It's run off," he said. "Probably to bring reinforcements. I didn't find an end to this darkness." With that rapport, he made to move past them. There was another tunnel he wanted to check. |

As sweet vision returned, Belnan let out a low, relieved chuckle that sounded more like a whimper. He nodded to Kindli. "Yeah, I'm fine now, thanks. Zombie-buddy, put me down now," As the elf lowers him to the ground, he realizes his legs are still shaky with the emotion of nearly loosing his sight, being trapped in this infernal darkness, and the recent battle. "Sorry, I wasn't much help back there. Where's Kolik, hasn't he returned yet?"
Belnan commands the zombie elf to follow and follows the group back into the light. |
