If it stays in, then he throws the daggers in the order of Meriadar, The Sword, and Obad-Hai. Last edited by goplayer7; 06-05-2012 at 02:14 AM. |

The dagger strikes the word obedience head on, and this time it stays rooted in. However, striking Meriadar causes both to pop up. Striking the sword causes it to once again sink in, but upon striking Obad-Hai it, as well as Obad Hai, reset.

Dougal looks at the door, stumped he turns towards Adira "I think you might have mixed up how things happened... or at least might be showing of the general ignorance that has risen." He sighs, going back to what he knew. The fact that Obad-Hai stayed depressed after striking Meriadar worries him slightly, but for now he ignores it to help with one specific aspect of what he is thinking of. Should any of his following expectations not go right, he stops.
__________________Dougal throws the dagger at The Sword expecting it to remain depressed, then Meriadar expecting the gears to grind. Then he tries the Obedience side of the book only expecting it to stay in. Next, he has uncertainty about what to do and guesses striking Obad-Hai. He expects either a second grinding of gears or the resetting or the buttons. If they reset, he does The Sword, Meriadar and Obedience again, then striking Baccob instead of Obad-Hai. Either way, he next does Ignorance expecting it to stay it in, then he strikes the remaining deity having an expectation, but stopping no matter what happens. Dougal's volley of daggers strikes one image after another. The image of the sword sinks in, and remains as such as Meriadar joins it and the turning of gears signals the recession of the first rod. The next dagger strikes the word OBEDIENCE, which remains depressed even after Obad-Hai is struck. Sure as rain, the sound of grinding gears can audibly be heard, and the second rod recedes. Finally striking at IGNORANCE, followed by Boccob, and all the buttons are depressed, and remain that way. A final turning of gears can be heard, and suddenly the wall to your left slides down, revealing a hidden stairway!

"Not that hard," Dougal says as if to himself for the sole purpose of not going crazy. "Guess there is only one way we can go, again. I'm starting to wonder how we will get back out, but there will be time for that later." Dougal walks towards the steps, then up them while checking them for traps as he walk up them taking his time.

The stairs seem harmless enough, despite your constant searching eye. Satisfied that no more traps wait to consume you with every step, you advance swiftly up the stairs, finding yourself in a fairly large room. The room is 40x40, and completely devoid of furnishings of any kind save two small and ornate pots, one in each of the far corners. On the far wall sits a large, stone, double door etched with both arcane and divine wards, but is otherwise undecorated.

Dougal, finally making it up the stairs, looks at what lays before him. He has the overwhelming urge to cast Detect Magic, but he still wants to keep his cover about being able to cast magic and doesn't think the same trick will work twice, now that Adira would be on guard seeing that magic is involved, "So, Adira, what do you think of this puzzle?"

Adira frowns. She makes a few motions, and her eyes flare up for a moment."Those vases are magical. Evo...no, conjuration magic." The flare in her eyes disappears. "Truth be told, I don't think it's another puzzle we've just walked into. It feels more like a trap... or an ambush..." Without another word, she draws her weapon. It is clear from the way she is standing that she is uneasy, but somehow you get the feeling that it's not the room that's putting her on edge.

"Do you see something?" Dougal asks as he takes out his good dagger in turn seeing Adria take out her sword. "Conjuration... what kind of magic would that be?"

Adira frowns "I don't see anything. Yet. But conjuration magic is the school of summoning. It's also related to teleportation and healing, but somehow I don't think that's what those vases do." She turns to you. "Ready yourself, I am going to approach carefully, and try to force the magic to activate. Unless you've got a better idea, of course."

"Summoning... my guess would be that we don't know enough to do anything but activate the magic." Dougal says.
I assume that the floor itself is also not decorated, but if it is then Dougal holds up his finger indicating that he is thinking. "However..." If my assumption is correct he says, "I would suggest that we walk up on opposite sides of the room together so we are flanking the thing that is summoned in case we have to fight it, but I will leave that to you as you would better know how these things work." |

Adira's nose crinkles up. "We can try, but somehow I think that the spell is triggered upon opening the door... forcing them to flank us." Hugging the right wall, she moves to flank anything that may come out of the vase, but sure enough, even when reaching the corner, the vases simply sits there.

At the opposite vase, having moved with Adira, Dougal takes a closer look at the vase. First to see if there would be any risk to picking it up and second to see if there was any similarities between it and either side of the door.

The vase, upon closer inspection, does appear to have similar markings upon it as the door, but there is no way of knowing if picking it up may trigger anything (you do, however, believe there are no mechanical traps preventing you from doing so.)

"Adira, to my eye, the markings on the vases look very similar to the markings on the door. Does your eye tell you something that I might not see?"
