OOCOne would think that with you sporting 34 hp's that you would do something to cure yourself or get the clerics attention. Ah well...Oh so hey what did you think of the lock video? best part is the light inside the lock i think..fun stuff.

Oh also you have to shield bash to get the effect of the buckler...and does the buckler have a DC for the paralyze poison effect?. Also don't you have another attack? Seem to remember you breathing and attacking the same round or is it a standard full round action thing like a spell?


You shout at the monks and realize the futility in your action. You are attacking their home asking for them to surrender to you. In their place you would not be inclined to give quarter either. With that you attack on, death breathing down your neck as your body breaks under the punishment.

you open your mouth and let out a gout of fire, the monks move and twist their body and your a bit dismayed as it seems as if they did not get overly hurt from the effect. Monk 1 takes the opportunity to attack you and hits you 4 times for 25 points of damage with her fists. You grimace and wonder what training it takes to make a strike the powerful.

Dar'ger attacks monk 6 with a staggering blow and looks at you, 'Hold on young one ill get to you in a second' you nod

Grayfare and Kyle attack monk 2 and 4 and zef continues her attacks on monk 3 and 6.

Well, I can't do 34 hp worth of damage most of the time, so I figured they couldn't either. Plus, I started using my shield so they should hit less often. Such was my logic about not calling for a healer. That, and it is cool to fight to the brink of death.

I can choose to use my breath weapon as a free action, but it adds 2 rounds to the recharge duration, so I chose not to do that, but then rolled a 4 anyway so it didn't really matter, that and the monks high reflex saves. I'd have to roll a 9 or above to avoid my own breath weapon, so my breath weapon isn't really all that great. You'd think the heart of a dragon would be a little harder to resists. *shrug* Normally, using my breath weapon is a standard action, so I can't use it and attack in the same round. It takes the place of my attacks, basically.

Didn't know I had to shield bash to use the poison feature, I thought it was a passive effect. I'll never shield bash because I don't have the feat and without it, it provokes. So I don't think I'd have bought the shield knowing that it was an all-bash style shield. *again, shrug* Don't think you gave me a poison DC for it, but maybe I just didn't write it down. It isn't too powerful, if I recall correctly.

As for your lock video, I commented on it. I thought it was a good video, though I stopped listening about halfway through due to a child distracting me. I liked the light inside too. I did, however, expect those graphics of the inside of the lock to animate. Common' you have After Effects! What, are you lazy?

My only concern with your breath weapon is that you got the correct number of attacks with it. As a free action you still get your full round action of 2 or 3 attacks..as a standard action like a magic spell..you only get it.

One of the main issues i have with magic in dnd is that it does not scale well as you get to higher levels. Might look at modifying that for you but ill have to look at a few things first.

Having a piece of armor just grant a passive skill to paralyze a foe if they hit you is a bit powerful and makes me have to think more. Would assume the dc for something like that would be about 15-18..have to look at other items.

Saw your comment on the video and laughed at it. Was a bit what i expected you would post..something snarky that is

Thought of animating things but really i did not see any reason to play in after effects that much. In fact i never touched it..just used premier. Lots easier

ooc - I don't care about the shield, it wasn't that much money and I can always sell it and upgrade. As for the breath weapon not scaling well, maybe. If the save DC was better it would be pretty good. I'm not sure what it should be though. Also, many of my feats are about my wings, but so far they haven't really come into combat play much. I keep getting into fights in rooms with normal ceilings. When I look over my sheet, I think my character could be min-maxed better, but I generally like him. He needs better armor to be sure, a 4 armor is pretty damn poor for his level. I built him like a dex-based fighter and that may have been a mistake. If he gets his heavyweight wings, heavy armor won't be as much of an issue and I can tank him up. As he is, he's a tank who can't really tank all that well.

ooc - lost my 1st post.

I take a half-step closer to Dar'ger and try to deflect against the monk's attacks. They are good, better than me at this sort of fighting. I am hurt, and I feel death's shadow looming over me again. There is a small comfort that, should I die, my corpse will continue to fight for the Necromancer and thus for keeping the artifact from the claws of Tiamat.

I need to heal, to pull away and rest. I cannot. If I reach for my healing stick, I'll leave myself open. One more hit and I'm likely dead. I don't intend to simply fall into death's embrace like a swooning lover. Death will earn my soul.

I pull in my shield a bit more, and am conservative with my attacks. I will make the monks work for their strikes. I wait for the monk to present a target, but she is too good for that. So I simply use my strength to drive my blade through her arm and force its way through!

mechanics
Using Combat Expert (-3 atk, +3 AC) Makes my AC 25.

Full attack - I'm not sure if they are evil or not, but I'll roll as though they are.

Dice Atk 1 and damage:
1d20+14 (18)+14 Total = 32
1d10+7 (7)+7 Total = 14
2d6 2, 1 Total = 3

Dice Atk 2 and damage:
1d20+9 (16)+9 Total = 25
1d10+7 (2)+7 Total = 9
2d6 5, 3 Total = 8


Hm...what'daya know, 34 points of damage in one round.

- Gwen, ya I can see that. Hey, do me a favor and vote for Binary Messiah over in the hall of fame nominations thread.

In the next E.R. (explosive runes) there will (maybe) be a thing that I kinda want to try out with Cass. A mini-mod kind of thing, totally unrelated to any previous game we've played. More of an experiment really. I'll post more about it once the new issue is out. I can't do it now because all that is hush-hush secret-secret.

So...go vote and post an update here. NOW!

You move closer to Dar'ger and keep fighting the monk. Your pain is apparent in your stance and in how your fighting. Death seems to loom over you and sure enough it seems closer when the monk attacks you with several blows. Each blow is powerful and you think would shatter bone if it were not protected. You stagger some from the blows and all at once feel the strong hand of the dwarf on you. You look down to say something when all the sudden you feel a burning fire surge through you.

The sensation moves through your body and as it hits your head you start to have a hard time seeing for a moment as everything becomes bright. All at once the pain of the blows start to diminish and you feel refreshed (+120hp).

With renewd energy you attack and hit the monk. Your first blow connects without a problem and you take a step forward for your second blow. IT also connects but not as solidly as your first...still its enough to stagger the monk and she drops to the ground.

Monk 6 hits Dar'ger hard and monk 3 is staggered back by zef. Grayfare launches off a large bolt of electricity that archs through monk 2 and 4. Kyle hits monk 4 several times and he also drops.

At the same time Mark, William, Dale, and Kess barge through the door. Mark and William run in and quickly dispatch monk 3. Dale runs forward and throws his hammer at monk 6 it hits and staggers him to the ground..and kess runs into the door and blasts a blot of fire at monk 2 which slays her.

Monk 6 looks up at you all and holds his hands up in surrender. The others quickly look from you to the monks. 'We have to do something as the foul magic here will raise their bodies' you know this but the idea of doing something about it seems good..still you know you have little time as the necromancer is gathering her forces

I snarl as I keep fighting, knowing death is near. Then suddenly death is not so near and the monks are defeated. It takes me a moment to adjust to this, the battle blood pulsing hard in my veins. There is talk of doing something to keep them from animating. If I knew how to stop that, I would have done so long ago.

"I don't know how to stop it. Lock them in a closet maybe."

I leave the logistics of that to them, I have a necromancer to hunt down. I turn and move through the door where I think he went. I remember that it was an illusion, but I have little else to go on. Then I remember the mummy twine. I follow it instead. My hunch is that where I find Larkin, I'll find the necromancer.

You snarl and quickly grunt out an idea for the bodies before you start to move forward through the door. A moment later you feel a hand on your shoulder and you stop for an instance. Your head whips around and you find yourself looking at Zef.

"Tau, ' she says and before she can finish her words you know what she is going to say. Its obvious as you look past her. The others..they stand there waiting for a leader..wanting to know what is going on..and wanting to be part of it. Still you push on into the traps alone and without help..Without family. Zef begins to speak and she sees your eyes and then goes silent for a moment. She has so much pride in you but you can feel she is afraid..scared of the road ahead..worried about Jack her father being held and tortured by janis.

You shake your head trying to clear the thought but it lingers there. Guilt floods through you as you think of Jack and the year plus it has been that he has been held captive.

William and Kyle have tied the bodies up and placed them in a small room to the south of this one. Dar'ger checks on the wounds while Dale, Kess, and Grayfare bind the 4 still living monks together. They are enemy's but some of them have surrendered to your might.

a wave of panic flies through your heart as you look from them all and then back at zef. A trap..this whole dam place is a trap of a sort. There is no death..there is only rebirth. And now the necromancer has all the staff pieces except the one janis holds..this woman who is consumed by hatred for the armies of tiamat and what they did to her will seek her vengeance and you are nothing but an annoyance...hubris...

You look again at zef and feel uncertain. Then you look down at your hand and remove the ring that links you two..The feeling and insight into how zef is doing is gone now. You finger the ring for a moment..seems the bond becomes stronger over time..

ooc - So...um....you gonna post in my sci-fi game? just want to make sure you're not waiting for me to do something. Do you want me to pre-gen you a character?

As for this one, I'm a little unsure about what you're getting at. You want me to give a big Hu-rah speach or something? Why did I remove the ring? The subtle subtext is too subtle for me.
