Out of curiosity, I started something relevant (posted to deviantART) and then scrapped it and rewrote it from scratch. Does it count as "previously published"? I have a feeling a few phrases might make it back in, but that's about it.

EDIT: Nevermind. Even edited down, I can't make that story fit the length requirements. Forget I asked.

So I am not sure whether it is really acceptable or not, but I decided to focus on the horror element of the genre with the merest splash of sci-fi, and totally ignored the fantasy aspect. Not sure if I broke (or maybe just bent) the rules, but I hope you don't hold it against me.

No, not at all. You can choose any of those genres or combo them anyway you want.

If this gets moving again some time in the near future, I'm interested in giving it a shot. My preference would be for a slightly longer short story but this is a good start.

Here's to hoping that Klazzform returns to us. His contest has allowed me and many others to develop many ideas that otherwise would not have found outlet.

If he is permanently gone, for any reason, should someone contact the admins about taking over his position running this competition?

I would be willing to temporarily take up the mantle of Klazzform and run one or two months' competition. I will offer to do so in my own forum (rather than insert myself into Klazzform's), but same rules would apply. Would this be of interest to people? I have at least one topic I can post, and I would be able to run a Aug 1st-Sept 1st contest.

EDIT: A friend has convinced me that it would be pointless to run a competition in my forum, I should just request permissions to do it here. I have done so, we'll see what the admins say. I would still like to know if that's of interest to people, please and thanks.

Hi all, the reds have given me the go-ahead to continue the competition cycle! First of all, everyone should go vote for your favorite of the two stories that were submitted to the May competition. Voting will be closed August 14th instead of 15th (because I counted wrong on the poll auto-end function). Sorry, my bad. Haven't used it in years. Good luck to you both.

Next, I will be posting the competition in the next day or two, and I'll make sure it's up by August 1st. You will have till September 1st, yadda yadda yadda... all rules apply. If you've questions you'll have to PM me instead of Klazzform, and I will do my best to answer them.
