Cough it up, people! (general chatting II)
![]() It is my intention to continue the game for those still interested, but I have been finding it harder and harder to run it using the 3e system (in fact, many things from 4e have been already incorporated behind the scenes with the monsters...but not as many as I'd like). So, feel free to continue looking around the now-very-vacant pyramid, and work out what your characters would like to do. There are still story issues that need be solved (the chillborn zombies, why Kekenny's spell didn't work properly on her, and just how no one is seemingly effected by the cold auras of Baral and Eli would be three I'd see to ).However, the start of the next section of gaming (however far away that is) will be run with 4e rules. I am more than happy to help out folk who wish to adapt characters (and I am happy to say that CDL is interested in coming back...as someone totally not evil ). And the new makings of the characters clearly doesn't need to be done for some time - the above issues, as well as the getting-back-to-town stuff can all happen aside from which edition's mechanics we use . Anyway, just wanted to let everyone know where things were headed in the big picture! hvg3 |

I would be interested to continue on, you grow attached to a character you've played for a good 4 years.

Wow! Big milestone for me, never finished a campaign before, let alone a PbP campaign. Hvg you truly run impressive games!
__________________Now then, I would be interested in playing the 4e game. But I don't know how well the character will transfer over, unless we are looking at new PC's. Anyways kudo's again! |

![]() The base mechanics are pretty similar - you still roll d20s to attack, other dice for damage, have AC, and so forth. There are a few little changes, such as no longer having a Fort, Ref, or Will save (instead, they are defences, so a fireball rolls to hit vs reflex, and thus can critical), and criticalling on a natural 20 (no confirmation needed). Oh, and you can crit / sneak anything; undead, oozes and elementals included! I think most characters will move quite nicely across, the biggest differences will be that the 4e classes are more focused - so you might choose between focusing on shapeshifting or summoning, and not do that much pure elemental damage (via spells) or healing. But yes, definitely will help! ![]() WotC also has a pdf of the quickstart rules (there's a lot there...not really 'quick start' ), as well as the character builder (free only up to 3rd level, but it gives a good sense of each of the classes).Quote:
![]() And once again - thanks to everyone for being involved with it It definitely could not have gone as well as it did without you!As to Eli, it is true that the 4e ranger lacks its speciality foe, but it also has the quarry damage against everything - so what it lacks in a focus, you still gain overall. There are also a few undead-hunter feats that could be useful; and of course, you could multiclass a little to gain some other potent undead-destroying powers. In general, I'm looking at starting the next part of the game at the beginning of the paragon tier (so level 11). It will take place in the "new" FR setting, so if you haven't heard about the spell plague and want to, I'm sure there are some good wiki articles on it! You can start off with a single FR background benefit too, if it is appropriate to your character!

I'll have a look at those rules. And will probably have tons of questions after that. ;p

yup, not found anything really suitable for undead yet in the character builder, so assuming i can make agnome, then hugga will throw the bonus/penalties on top of that

Arefoor is 'alive' as much as a sentient construct can be but he had no idea that Alfred was supposed to die as well. Not sure how we would have done on a two-front (Elf Lady and Alfred) battle anyway. <shrug>
Alfred doesn't care who he follows. I suppose, if we were to continue, he would have taken a level of Wizard and started healing himself. Not sure how it will all work in 4E, but Arefoor is ready to make a report to the High Wizards in Evereska and then go on the hunt for Alfred. At 9th level, would we start out with standard gold and items for 4E? |

4e is a lot easier then 3.5e IMO, and Im game to go for a long time X-D.

Rather, it was a story element that would need solving now - in the "What Happens Now?" thread. (that is still labelled as a 'game' thread, so please, continue IC discussion in there, and work out what you want to do! ). I think that stopping this whole being-undead thing would probably be a wise spot to start ![]() Quote:

Zaltarn: rogue with possible wizard or bard multiclass, a few wands around for various tricks. Or focus on controlling those darned blades, and go daggermaster at paragon. Baral: a dragon-soul sorcerer seems entirely appropriate (dragonsoul heir PP?)Eli: could do well with ranger, looking at the Pathfinder path for Paragon levels. Possibly dip into rogue for a little bit more precise damage? Arefoor: a fighter, going into the warforged juggernaut would be most nasty Elbryan: swordmage could cross the use of that large blade and lots of fire; perhaps some MCing into wizard to grab a few specific, iconic abilities? The other choice is to work with Sedracus and create two sorcerers who are quite different - Baral as the close burst specialist, Elbryan with area and ranged attacks? Kekenny: clearly druid for the shapeshifting, a little focusing on the summons (or strongly with the "Primal Summoner" paragon path), and if you wanted the healer's touch still, multiclassing into shaman. If you still wanted the elemental-summoning feel, though, you'd have to multiclass elsewhere (I *think* all druid summoning is natural now...) Last edited by hvg3akaek; 07-19-2010 at 07:18 AM. |

Yeah, I just finished it. The Bull-Rush issue was hard to resolve but I took a lot of powers that gave the charge/push flavor. Went with Juggernaut as that seemed the most obvious way to go. Not happy with everything the way it turned out but for the most part I think with a little, tweaking he will be fine.
Any comments/suggestions would be most welcome. Last edited by Hyregoth; 07-19-2010 at 10:21 AM. |
