[Game Thread] The Journey Begins

Nekiset eyed Tsuki as she transformed into a tiger, shifting her head and giving a very slight sniff at her before going, "Easy there." She looked back at the man thoughtfully. "But she's right. If she needs to go somewhere else, we will go with her. Beyond the fact that no mention of turning her over to someone else was apparently made to these two, she may also be aware of things we need to know. If you plan to accompany us, that is acceptable, but we will not be leaving her entirely."

The man looks defeated as he shakes his head and shrugs. "I don't like this any more than you do. Apparently you guys took your sweet time collecting the girl and the old man got worried. I'll hang on to the gold until we get to riverbend." He puts the pouch of gold back into his cloak, making sure it's secure, before walking towards the group. "And tell your dog to show a little restraint, she seems to think this is some alley in the bad part of Sigil. Transforming like that in town is considered a crime on Minerva." He turns to his companions and motions for them to leave. "You boys go find us another job, I'll take care of this one, and hopefully still get some gold out of it." His companions quickly turn and head back down the street, clearly eager to go back to bed. The cloaked man turns back to the group, "So what's the plan ?"

Nekiset relaxes slightly, setting her staff on the ground and leaning slightly upon it. "We've been traveling some time. I could go on without rest, but I expect the girl, at least, would rather sleep in a warm bed for the remainder of the night?" She says it in the form of a question, turning her head to look at Valencia.

The girl, who had waited patiently for the two groups to work out their "disagreement", seemed taken aback when Nekiset turned to her with a question. She seemed to think the question for some time before speaking, "I would like to continue on to Riverbend if it wouldn't be too much trouble. I personally have no desire to go back to sleep any time soon."

Eying the men for a few moments, Tsuki shifts up into hybrid form. She kneels and scrawls in the dirt, 'I've spent most of my life in the wild, so I shift when I must or when I feel I need to.' Her amber eyes watch the man who had informed her that shifting in towns was illegal as she awaits his reply. While she waits, she folds her dress and places it in her sack.

"Let's just get moving then, if no one needs to stop here in town, shall we?" Nekiset shifted, rolling her shoulders slightly and looking over at Tsuki and Chisel, then at the man. "I am Nekiset, what shall we call you?" If no one said anything, she started moving again.

 

Not sure if it's common knowledge or not, but taking 10 on Knowledge: Geography (for a 23) to identify how far Riverbend is, what the shortest route to get there is, and how long it will take at an average walking pace. Also take 10 on any other relevant knowledge check to determine what she knows about the place.

Chiselstone noted the situation becoming more peaceful, and adapted a more restful stance. "It's good to see we can settle our little 'misunderstanding.' However I would prefer it if you send word of her safe return," Chisel stated as he accepted the reward. "An even split, 100 gold for all of us," he proposed to the group.

The man and the girl wait patiently for the party to decide on their next course of action. While waiting the man takes a dagger out of his cloak and begins to trim his nails while the girl becomes interested in the surrounding architecture.

 

Of the two towns you could have gone through to get here, Riverbend would have been one of them. From personal experience your characters would know that it's a two day trek, on foot, from Hoate to Riverbend. General information about Riverbend is in the "People and Places" thread. Unless you want something specific what's in there is the only remarkable things about the town.

Also the man still has the money and has made clear his intent to keep it until your party reaches Riverbend.

Nekiset looked over at Chisel, tilting her head slightly. "Do you mean to stay here, then? I am going with her." She stated, pausing to consider his comment.

Tsuki stood and shouldered her pack. After scuffing out her message with her foot, she inclined her head towards the gate.

The sooner we get to Riverbend, the sooner we can find out if this guy is telling the truth or not, she thought, flexing her hands. She was a bundle of nerves. Rescues rarely went as smoothly as this one has so far.

"Oh, I must have been confused, so yes and let us proceed to Riverbend."

The man stowed his dagger back in his cloak and stretched out before speaking, "So if we're all in agreement why don't we head out. We have a long walk ahead of us after all."

Nekiset shifted back toward the gate, glancing around momentarily before she nodded. "Right, let's move. And, I asked your name?" She queried again, looking at the man as they made their way back out of town.

The man scoffs as he heads towards the town's eastern gate with the group. "Names names just call me Richard."The man was in front for now and he kept a rather brisk pace. Valencia remained silent, and followed closely behind Nekiset

Bringing up the rear, Tsuki kept her eyes peeled. She really wasn't expecting anything to happen. However, if something did happen, she wanted to be ready to act. Her eyes flitted about as she tried to take in as much as she possibly could. At the same time, her ears twitched with each sound.
