These are things which we must discuss, Muri says, squatting and motioning for the others to form a crude circle. Muri bites off a piece of jerky, chewing while the others assemble. We need to make plans.

Magog
__________________Magog is visibly shaken. He had a hard time getting back to sleep when his watch was done. I don't know if it was human, or what. But it was scary. There's something that knows where we are. We might want to abandon the search for whoever did this, and just try to protect ourselves. |

"No, no! Golk smash bad pinkies! Golk need mommy!" Golk screams back at Magog turning purple in the face while striking the medusa device repeatedly onto a rock very loudly. So much for a quiet morning.

Muri closes her eyes and shakes her head. This is not going to be easy.
Golk, cease your tantrum. You wail as though a hobgoblin's boot is upon your sack, Muri barks, and I feel as though he is kicking me between the eyes with his other foot. Muri takes up a stick and draws a line in the dirt at her feet. On one side of the line, she writes "revenge." On the other side of the line, she writes "survival." If we are to seek revenge, what do we know about our enemies? |

Magog
__________________For a moment, as Golk wails, Magog wonders if it wouldn't be better to accidentally get Golk killed. He'd probably end up getting killed before too long anyway. And then the level headed members of the group might be able to worry about safety. But then Muri starts talking about revenge, and his hopes are dashed. Sure, a part of him wants to hurt the people who killed his mentor, the only person who really cared about him. Except, maybe, for his dead parents. But he didn't get where he was today--which was still alive--by talking about revenge. They have powerful, powerful magic. We saw a taste of it in that battle. Whoever massacred the Orcs had more magic. And they undoubtedly have even more. They almost certainly outnumber us. After all, they took down our whole village. We have no hope if we try to attack all of them. |

Muri scratches the words "magic" and "numbers" in the earth beneath "revenge." If I am reading your tone correctly, Magog, I'd say that you are not eager to pursue revenge, Muri pauses, at least not yet. What words of wisdom to you have that I might record under "survival?"

Golk silences in a big huff. Using the medusa device, he scratches 4 stick figures in the dirt above "Revenge". One with a crude axe, one with an arrow next to it, one with wavy lines above it's head (maybe smelly), and one with no face. Under "Revenge", he makes a medusa head.

__________________Magog considers Muri, and feels sorry that she seems to be the natural leader of the group, considering how treacherous she is. And then he considers how to answer the question, holding back some of his feelings. First, I'd suggest we try to deal with the creature that appeared to us last night, before doing anything out. Beyond that, we need to observe before attacking anyone. We certainly won't want to attack every group we come across. Golk will want to rush in and attack, but we can't let him. However, he isn't sure how Golk could possibly be restrained, except perhaps by trickery. |

Muri nods agreement. I too had considered that dealing with the thing from last night might be a reasonable first step- neither too passive, nor to aggressive. We could spend today foraging, be it in the forest or in town, then tonight we could try to capture the thing.
Muri scratches her head. Did either of you get a good enough look at it to tell what it is? Man? Goblin? Something else? Looking up at Golk, Muri asks one more question. Can you work with us to capture this thing? It might know where we can find the goblin at whose teet you suckled. Last edited by copatt; 12-05-2010 at 09:53 PM. |

"Golk can help with that. No, Golk don't know what was here last night."

__________________Magog just shrugs his goblin shoulders. I didn't get a close look at it. It may be best though for you to try to sneak around when it comes back, since you're probably the best at that. Maybe one of us, or the rest of us, could try to get it's attention. Though maybe we could set up a trap, if one of you knows a likely trap. |

Muri considers Magog´s advice. No trap. If the thing is watching, it would see us readying a trap. Tonight, while you take turns watching, I will slip away and try to take it by surprise-- assuming it is back tonight.

After a long, awkward silence, Muri speaks again. The time for indecision is done. I will enter the city to learn what secrets I as I might. I am not unskilled at speaking with humans. Muri turns to Golk and extends an open hand. Give me the medusa head device, and I will learn what I can of it.
The two, Muri stops herslef mid-sentence and looks about for Zeko, the two or three of you may come with me, forage in the forest, or do something else productive. Make your decisions quickly, and be back here one hour prior to sundown. With that, Muri pivots on a bare heel and stalks off toward town. |

__________________After Muri leaves, Magog turns to the remaining two. I suggest the rest of us forage. We can best avoid the dangers that lurk for us there, and we will need more food if we can get it. Magog tries to sound decisive, but he isn't willing to go foraging on his own. He'll do whatever the other two do, if he can't convince them. |
