"It seems I could not contain myself when I heard the sounds of battle...", he muttered, as he subtlety wiped the blood from his mouth with his sleeve. "That, and the bloodlust was enough to drive me to dangerous heights... but it seems I.. we.. have prevailed." Leaning against his staff, he lifted his head and threw a glance over at Faerkin. "As for who I am, that does not matter.. I am sure you already know as much about me as you do your other companions, either way. I am an eladrin, and I am a druid. That should suffice." Staring at the floor for a second before throwing a quick glance over to Chant, Xiltas stared back towards Thoradin, "And in case you are wondering how I found my way here, I spotted each of you making way from over Old King's Road, as I was scouting the forest for prey in my bestial form. My.. curiosity peaked, and as wandered behind your trails, footprints and scent guiding me, I came across this place, doors open with bodies thrown about." "When I came across you all engaged in battle, I decided to join your side, because.. well... I'm not very, fond, of kobolds, especially these. Seems they wipe the forests near clear of anything edible, making hunting more work then it should be." Turning to glance around at the other travelers, Xiltas wonders, "And what would such a cast of unique characters be up to in a place like this?" Last edited by Skeptikalz; 08-13-2010 at 03:11 AM. |

“Us?”Said Merric, as he stood up to his full height, which.. was very small.. atop the cold grey stairs leading up to him.
__________________“We’re just helping out the neighbourhood it would seem!” as he bellows his reply he laughs a rather jolly laugh, echoing around the walls of the cavern. “Who’s up for a game of Skull-Skull then lads?” he says reaching up to the skull on a rope unfortunately he’s too small to grab the rope and to swing it, so he gives up and prays by the corpses of the dead Kobolds, and Drakes, scanning over them to see if there’s anything of help to the group. Moving closer to the new figure he began the sort process of congratulating him. “Thanks for helping us there, we needed you. Come, sit with me.” As he says so he takes out two back of provisions, one for him and one for Xilitas. Offering it to him and he was sat on the floor, Merric sat back and rested after the long battle. Stretching his limbs out and engaging in convosation with Xilitas if he agreed to. After a while of resting, Merric stood up and called to everyone around the cavern. “Come on you big oafs! There’s a party waiting for us over there.” He pointed to the exit as he finished shouting with a hearty laugh. “Eat up, rest well, we’re heading out in a minute or two.” He walked towards the door prompting the rest of the group to come with him. Merric enjoyed acting as a leader, and would want to lead the group into the next room so he could stand between whatever was facing them and the rest of the group. Merric also looked around for Chant before approaching him and chatting to him while he rested. Perception check. Last edited by JoeStevens; 08-12-2010 at 09:13 PM. |

Chant chuckled at his halfling friend. "Maybe next time we can be a little more... stealthy? I know it's hard to mask dwarf smell but this last battle got me thinkin' that rushing headlong into every situation might get us killed. I'd like to be alive to spend my coin!"
Satisfied with the explanation given by their new companion, Chant signals Merric that he's ready to go as well. |

"Aye, give a go Chant!" he says laughing as he stands by the entrance to the next room, waiting for the rest of the group.

Thoradin adjusts his chaimail as he starts moving over the Chant waggling a finger in the rogues direction,"Now you see here you son of an orc I'll have you know this is the smell of a real man, nay adventurer." Takes a quick whiff of himself then continues,"Oh the smell of the road boy, the dirt, the sun, the blood. It all adds up to a mans smell not some wimpy smell of hiding in shadows!" with a wave of his hand dismissing the whole thing he puts his arm on Chant's shoulder letting him get a good smell then adds,"Ok next room, I still don't trust our dinner over there, but he's held his own until now." With a glance over at Xiltas he prepares to head into the next room.

Jarkan, smiles, as he joins in on the banter It might be prudent for us to provide Thoradin a bath; a sludge bath, might, just might cover a dwarf's smell.. Jarkan laughs at his own joke and without waiting for responses from the others turns and walks toward the door the one kobold escaped through. They're going to be ready for us this time. Jarkan states, with shield and axe in hand, and than follows up with a thought prayer Kord, please provide me with the strength and skills I will need in the up and coming battle.

Erik rises from his seat chuckling at the party's unique banter. He heads toward the group and says, " Alright let's find out who or what is in this next room."
Erik takes his place in the party's formation and thinks "Maybe this room will provide us with the answers we seek." |

After scouring the room and bodies for anything of value or interest, the group continue on in formation, pressing deeper into the heart of the kobold warrens. They pass through the wide hallway they have fought so hard to access, some of the party still a little battered, and soon enter a large chamber with a 20-foot-high ceiling. Before them is a 10-foot wall that leaves passages open to the right and left. Suddenly, the sound of cracking timbers echoes through the hall. The floor shakes, dust cascades down from the ceiling, and a fearsome rumbling sound is heard something big and heavy hurtles toward them!
Before they can even make it into the room, two kobolds pop up atop the wall, shout a shrill, wordless challenge, and brandish loaded slings. There must be a room behind that wall, with some means of ascent. They fire sling stones at the armored dwarf leading the column. One goes wide and bounces harmlessly off Jarkan's shield with a ping! but another strikes Thoradin squarely in the chest, knocking the wind out of him. |

As the shot hits Thoradin in the chest Merric pushes past and fires a bolt of holy light back at the attacking slinger. The bolt of radiant light soars through the air lighting the room slightly as Merric shouts “Take that you beast!” The bolt of light collides with the Kobolds chest igniting him in holy light! The light enables an allies attack to be guided more accurately towards the Kobold. The Kobold screams in a language that Merric cannot clearly understand, and prays to forgiveness to Bahamut for the creature’s pain. Merric then encourages his allies to take further shots against the Kobold he has weakened, more to end it’s pain then anything else.

Chant's dagger follows Merric's bolt of light, sticking into the kobold's shoulder before returning. "There can't be that many more kobolds, right? If the leader isn't in this room i'm going to demand double payment when we get back. And free ale at the tavern. And free meals."

Merric advances cautiously and stabs at the slinger who injured Thoradin with a lance of holy light from his fingers. Aside from this light, the area is lit only by flickering torches somewhere in the distance, casting the entire chamber in a dim gloom. Chant stands his ground covered in the safety of the group, and lobs a dagger up to the platform at the kobold designated by Merric's beam of light. Both attacks strike true, and the kobold is already seriously wounded.
"Do we go to the left or the right?" Jarkan asks, looking back and forth at the others. "Arrh, until someone has a better plan, I'm going straight up!" The dragonborn sheaths his sword and lunges ahead at the wall. Climbing with one hand, and his shield held up to ward against attacks, it doesn't look like he'll be able to make it. He scrabbles and almost loses his footholds several times but fortunately the wall is rough, with many handholds, and he is able to make it up. The slinger reveals a dagger it had hidden somewhere and makes a weak attempt to slash at Jarkan as he reaches the top, but it is too afraid of the armored dragonborn and only slashes at air. From up here, Jarkan can see a drake like the ones that wounded him so grievously before slavering up at him from the room below. Rope ladders run down into it, which must be how the kobolds got up onto the wall so easily. Across the room, Jarkan spies what can only be the kobold chieftain: a relatively tall kobold wearing light armor of whitish fur, and a bone mask. The kobold holds a staff more intricate than most kobold weapons, but Jarkan can't make it out clearly from here in the dim light. What he can see is that the staff glows with a cold white light which detaches as the kobold, obviously a wielder of some sort of magic, motions at him. The light forms an orb of magical force not unlike the ones Erik flings about, which flies across the room. Fortunately, the kobold mage's aim is off and the orb misses Jarkan - but it is too close for comfort, and he cannot dodge easily on this narrow platform. The kobold chief, if that is who he is, is surrounded by two bodyguards: kobolds as heavily armored as Jarkan himself, wielding short swords and defended by scale armor sized for a small creature and heavy shields with white accents. They stare at him, raising arms and shields, but hold their position on the far platform with strict discipline. Jarkan haltingly calls out all this information to his allies below, while defending himself as well as he can. Suddenly a small, winged reptilian swoops up out of a dark alcove to the northwest, flying upwards on leathery wings to screech at Jarkan and attack him. It takes the fighter by surprise and very nearly scratches him with its claws and beak, but the dragonborn had the prudence to keep his guard up, and manages to raise his shield in the nick of time to ward off the attack. The creature flies away out of reach of Jarkan's fist, and perches on the opposite corner of the wall for a moment as if daring him to follow... but only for a moment, as it leaps off the wall to fly across. This creature is graceful in flight and very fast! The stony rumbling gets louder, and looking over to the far right side of the room, a huge boulder comes into view, falling down with great energy from atop an elevated platform. The Skull-skull player who fled their attack was hiding behind it, and now waves a spear at Merric and Jarkan. By great luck or dubious design, the boulder rumbles up towards the center of the chamber and veers off in the other direction, away from the group. |

"This room seems a little cluttered.." Xiltas mused. A huge boulder was moving around the area, and Jarkan was fighting between two kobolds. Knew the moment he climbed that wall he was getting into some trouble..
Taking another glance around the room, watching the kobolds sneer and cry out, hearing the roars of other creatures beyond his view, Xiltas quickly lost his patience. "I have no time for this nonsense..!" he yelled through his teeth, slamming his staff on the floor. In the blink of an eye, Xiltas was now atop of the wall, right next to Jarkan. Staring back at Jarkan, Xilean grinned. "I hope you can keep your balance, this space is about to get much smaller." Turning back towards the kobold, Xiltas morphed into his beastial form, and it seemed as though he was standing on a tightrope. Somehow, he kept his balance, and struck at the kobold next to him, completely ripping him to shreds and tossing the body off of the platform in a bloody display. Xiltas peered over at the kobold chieftain, and let out a frenzied roar. You're next... |

The battle is in full swing, Erik hears the shouts of his companions relaying information of the enemy situation. Suddenly a loud crash draws his attention to the right side of the room he thinks "Damn, that bloody boulder is gonna crush the dwarf," however it veers the opposite way.
Erik turns his attention back to the fight just in time to see the druid make a killing blow against one of the sling wielding kobolds. This stirs Erik's darker side with the promise of more blood and he moves into action with wicked intentions. Erik finds the first enemy he can and wields curse and flame against it. However in his haste Erik's grasp on the flame is lost and it erupts no where near the target. Last edited by Stiyl; 08-15-2010 at 05:59 PM. |

Thoradin sumbles back fromt he blow to his chest leaving him slightly stunned, he gives a drawven growl and a shake of his head and refocuses on the fight. He watches as his companions quickly dispatch the slinger that hit him and gives a grin then switches his gaze to the right where he watches the boulder tumble down and head away from them. Not quite sure where the path is he decides to play cautiously and moves towards the opposite corner of the room and mutters a quick spell sending a searing flame towards the kobold on the ledge but comes up short nicking the ledge right before it. He mutters a curse about his misfortune and rubs his chest where the slinger hit deciding to save his clerical powers for his allies in case their desperation becomes more.
