The nameless Eladrin steps effortlessly through the air to reappear atop the wall, change into the form of a bear, and sweep the injured kobold off with savage slashes of his claws. His prey is dead before he hits the ground, making a mess before the group of adventurers.

Erik advances behind Merric only a few steps to try a shot at the surviving slinger above, but misses spectacularly. Thoradin moves further in to get a clear shot, but the slinger watches him carefully and is able to duck the attack.

The slinger avoids Jarkan and skitters away across the wall. It tries to lean to its right and shoot a projectile at either Merric or Thoradin but can't aim well with the heroes on the wall right in front of it, and the clerics are in no danger as the projectile smashes against the wall far above them, leaving a smudge of green slime.

Where the boulder originated, the weak and cowardly kobold who fled them before searches his empty case of javelins for something to throw at them. Finding nothing, it hunches down defensively and quickly moves down the stairs, following the boulder and careful not to outrun it.

The drake growls and hisses at Jarkan and the bear for a few moments, laying a tentative forearm on the rope ladder before it. The slinger snaps some terse commands in Draconic - Jarkan can make out, "Here! Up, jump, heel!" The drake swiftly moves to the ladder opposite and laboriously half-jumps, half-climbs up it, scrabbling with its feet against the wall as it grabs the ropes to pull itself up onto the wall. At another command from the kobold, who balances on the edge of the wall to clear a way, it rushes at Jarkan, snapping with teeth and slashing with claws to protect its master. The dragonborn has difficulty defending himself atop the narrow wall, and though he fights off some of the attacks, a few vicious bites make it through his defenses.

Xiltas (or Theodore) can now also see the kobold chieftan and his two armored bodyguards on the platform across from them. The chief seems surprised to see his transformation. "Bear! A mage! Worry not, my magic will stop them!" The bone-masked kobold raises his staff, which Theodore sees to be intricately carved and topped with a small red orb of crystal clutched in a metal claw. A blast of energy leaps out of the staff, striking the bear with freezing cold. Fortunately, the bear's thick fur is able to ward off most, but not all, of the cold. The chief then retreats a step behind the cover of his bodyguards. He yelps at the heroes, "Go away bad invaders, or we kill you!" To his people, the chief cries out a long, inspiring speech, which practically nobody in the party understands because it is all in Draconic. Jarkan pays attention too, and he can hear, "Have faith, my brave and proud Skullkicker tribe! We are great and strong, and they are weak and scared! They tremble before the might of our lord and master, mighty Szhacharrax! Szhacharrax makes Skullkickers strong, strong enough to rule all kobolds, strong enough to fight off these invaders and bring their meat and treasure to Szhacharrax as sacrifice! Have faith, and we will triumph!" The kobolds raise their weapons and open their reptilian jaws in a cheer at this speech, visibly motivated.

As the Drake leaps up onto the wall Merric looks at the beast raising one eyebrow. “That’s one UGLY dog.” As he says so he cracks a sun rod from his waist to ignite the room. He sends forth a bolt of divinity towards the Drake attempting to open the drake up to another attack.
A bright light begins to form by Merric and shoots towards the drake at a deadly speed. The bolt just hit the drake lighting up the room and granting an extra guidance to the next attack made against the drake. The drake also begins to burn in the radiant light running and screeching as it does so. “May Bahamut have mercy on your soul.” Merric repeats as the creature burns. He then moves forward, proceeding to go down the right path.

Hoping to surprise the enemies with an attack from behind, Chant scurries to the door and starts prodding at the lock. Though simple, his fingers have a bout of clumsiness and he jams his thumb.
Stabbing things is so much easier!

Jarkan nods his head in approval of his new companions attack before he takes a half step forward and swings his axe towards the kobold; who promptly dodge the blow and slide further along the wall. Jarkan proceed to to give chase but his way is suddenly blocked by a drake. Jarkan sets his shield as the drake comes bounding towards him. Jarkan shoves the shield forward into the drake, blocks its claws but the drake twists its head and bites him on the shoulder; its teeth piercing through his scale armor.

Jarkan shoves the drake off of him ignoring defense for offense. Jarkan swings his weapon from left to right as his axe slices into the things shoulder. Jarkan follows his axe with a push of his shield bumping the drake off the ledge. Jarkan moves forward following the kobold.

Merric lights up the room with a blindingly bright sunrod, and the guard drake with his faith, while he walks towards where he thinks the boulder is unlikely to go.

Chant makes haste to the door and yanks on it. Finding it locked or barred from inside, he attempts to pick the lock, but fumbles. It's too bad he doesn't have any tools that could make this job easier. At least he did not jam the mechanism, so he can try again.

Jarkan bashes his axe and shield into the vicious guard drake. He stumbles on the ledge for a moment, but Merric's prayer of light aids him and draws his attacks towards the drake, providing precisely the boost he needs to shove the drake bodily off the wall with his shield. The animal scrabbles uselessly at the wall but is sent tumbling off, and smashes roughly into the ground, taking as much injury from the impact as from the axe wounds. It lays there in a bloody heap, as the giant boulder rolls along in the chasm between Jarkan and the chief, headed right for it... the kobolds' elaborate trap turning against them!

The flying drake swoops up and across the chamber, screeching at Merric as it attempts to catch him by surprise and wrest the sunrod out of his hand. Merric grabs it and tightens his grip on the precious light source, and the drake soon gives up and flies back to its master. One of the bodyguards hisses at Chant, looking eager to leave the platform and engage the heroes, but remembers his task. The two raise their heavy shields up and stand stolidly in front of their charge, providing him with a living wall.

Thoradins eyes open wide as he watches the rock flatten the drake. He lets out a little yelp then adds "Guessed wrong i guess". He dashes quickly away from the kobold coming around the corner of the building he spots the minion, and points one of his stubby fingers it's way, "You're not getting away this time wee one" He mutters a spell, but in his haste he misfires nearly hitting Chant infront of him with a searing shot of light, he gives a soft chuckle, "At least i almost hit something." Then peers over his shoulder making sure the boulder isnt right behind him he gives Chant a nudge. "Whatda we keep you around for if you can't even open a simple door you worthless cutpurse"

Spying Jarkan masterfully tossing the drake off of the wall unto the path of the boulder below, Xiltas realized that knocking down these creatures would be the best course of action as long as it was possible. Looking over the edge towards where the chieftain once was, he decided to open some room and frighten the leader a little. Let's see how strong his guards are.. Shifting quickly back into his Eladrin form, he quickly shot out a whip of thorns looking to drag down a kobold, only to see it kicked off by the dragonshield. They're tough.. I had a feeling this wouldn't be easy. Peering over the edge towards Chant trying to open the door, Xiltas looks wearily at the jump before him and decides to wait and see if Chant can open the door himself. Moving behind Jarkan, Xiltas whispers, "Let's clear this out for the others," as he glares over at the kobold on the other side.

Erik sees the battle on the right side of the room is going well, so he moves toward the enemies on the opposite side. Erik stops in a place where he think it'll be safe for a while and readies himself to use a spell.

Erik locks eyes with the minion across the room, then he lifts a glowing hand and sends a wave of crackling energy at the creature. The wave collides with the kobold flashing its body into ash.

The dwarf and the Eladrin are not very lucky with their latest attacks, and their respective spells do not injure their opponents. Erik moves swiftly to the right side of the room, gathering shadows around him and keeping ahead of the rolling boulder, to blast a kobold with his arcane missile. He is too concerned with hiding behind Merric to get close enough to curse his target, but causes enough damage to slay the kobold nonetheless.

The guard drake picks itself up off the ground slowly and leaps out of the way of the boulder in the nick of time, pressing itself to the side of the chamber to maneuver behind it as it passes and keep from being squished to death.

The slinger atop the wall continues dancing away from Jarkan, even going so far as to stick its long reptilian tongue out at him. "Nyahhhh, can't catch me!" it says, then loads another glue canister into its sling and lobs it at Thoradin. This time the missile arcs over the wall to splatter right on the dwarf's head, coating him from head to toe with a sticky goo that impedes his movement and filthies his proud beard. Then, the slinger makes a daring leap off the wall, landing nimbly on the floor and speeding off up the stairs to regroup with its leader.

For his part the masked chief continues firing orbs of freezing cold at the shapeshifter, who he seems to have identified as the most important threat. Xiltas tries to dodge, but is again struck and this time without fur covering his body, the cold does a little more damage.

Chant smiles. "Well dwarf, you keep me around because no one else will put up with your smell long enough to attempt a decent conversation. Though why I try to converse with an ignorant bearded halfling as hardheaded as the stone he was born from is a mystery I will never solve." It would be unfortunate when the job was done and they had to part ways. He was starting to get accustomed to the banter with Thoradin and the outright friendliness of Merric. Even the stoicism of Jarkan, the quietness of Erik, and the abruptness of the Druid were starting to grow on him.

Sighing, Chant gives up on the door, and moves to a spot next to the wall. Hopefully the discipline of the kobold guards will hold until the group can think of a strategy. Seeing that the dog-like drake escaped the boulder, Chant kisses his dagger and says a silent prayer to his lady luck, Avandra. Maybe she'll be nice now that things are getting dangerous. Woman are picky like that. The dagger sails through the air and sticks into the drakes rear end. A sens of humor even. Maybe when I buy her a shiny i'll ask her to marry me. I wonder if she can cook.

"They have a pretty good position up there. Any ideas?" Chant addresses their newest companion directly for the first time. "Maybe you could pull one a little closer to us with your flower thing?"

Jarkan, gaining confidence, strides along the top of the wall, looks at the assembly of opponents in front of him and smiles, showing off many sharp teeth. Jarkan opens his mouth and blasts forth flashes of lightning, hitting a few, but gaining the attention of most. Jarkan yells and points at the ground below him"Meet me down there." Jarkan produces another toothy smile before he turns, unenthusiastically drops his axe into the tiny room, and descends downward.

As the Goblins and adventurers trade blows Merric proceeds in his duty to heal the injured. Turning to Thoradin he says; “Heal yourself, then save your heals for the others.”
Trying to draw attention from the rest of the party Merric moves forward, boldly shooting out a bolt of divinity towards a Goblin guard, the light strikes the Goblin through his shield smashing into his heart. The light makes the Goblin Bodyguard vulnerable to the next attack made by someone else.

Chant positions himself far enough back along the wall so the kobold chief cannot see him, and throws the well-balanced dagger at the wounded guard drake with a flourish. Lady luck smiles on Chant for a change, and his dagger leaves a substantial wound in the beast's ropey muscles.

Jarkan swaggers to the edge of the wall, sucks in a deep breath, and exhales a storm of lightning that floods the opposite platform and the intervening space. It electrocutes the drake and the slinger below, and courses through the armor of one of the bodyguards. The chief and his pet flying drake manage to avoid the blast. Smoke rises from the critically injured drake, which kicks feebly, clearly on its last legs. The added resolve the kobolds had for the words of their chief begins to waver: he can see that his draconic breath attack severely intimidated the dragon-worshiping creatures. That will teach them to bunch up like that! Jarkan tosses his weapon down into the room to free up a hand, and effortlessly rappels down the rope ladder into the little room. He notices that the door is locked from within, but he can easily turn the latch there to let himself out.

The winged animal takes off and makes a strafing run at the only person still standing atop the wall. It slashes the druid with talons and beak, before flapping away back to the safety of the raised platform. These repeated attacks are beginning to take their toll on the druid, who might want to consider a better-defended position.

Merric scores a lucky hit, seriously injuring one of the kobold chieftain's bodyguards and lighting him up for further punishment. As Merric's light source illuminates them and the party draws nearer, a design of a white dragon's head can be seen on the kobold bodyguards' shields. These "dragonshield" elite kobold warriors leave their platform and charge at the approaching heroes, only slightly slowed by their heavy armor. Chant nimbly evades the attack, but Merric is stabbed in revenge by the kobold he recently hit. The kobold warrior looks fairly skilled, and Merric feels it would be unwise to attack anyone else until this one is dealt with. The two bodyguards now block the corridor, maybe hoping to trap the heroes between themselves and the advancing boulder trap.

Dust continues to fall from the ceiling as the gigantic boulder continues its roll around the room, hurtling inexorably towards Thoradin! There is no way the dwarf will manage to free himself from the goop he's stuck in in time to move out of the way - if only someone had helped to free him!

Erik can hear a loud rumbling, turning he can see that the boulder is moving towards him. He also spots the dwarf Thoradin still stuck in its path, weighing his options Erik thinks "I can be of no real help to him now, might as way make these kobolds pay for this trap." Erik then moves out of the path of the oncoming boulder and towards the enemies.

As Erik reaches the back of the room, he sees the kobold bodyguards rush two of his companions. His companions fare well and take minimal damages. With a moments concentration Erik curses the nearest body guard and sends a bolt of eldritch magic towards it. However the bolt even with the aid of Merric's previous attack, just overshoots the target.

Thoradin curses his luck as he looks down at the goo hanging weirdly from his beard and down his body keeping him stuck. He turns his head to the left and spots the boulder heading his way, he lets out a yelp as considers his predicament. "Might not be making it outta this one boys, but might as well put up a hell of a fight!" He glances at his bloodied body then gazes around the room gauging the parties injuries, he decides to first heal his bloody wounds first, he ends up being able to stop the blood flow but isn't quite feeling fully healed. He watches as Xiltas's wounds seem to get worst and decides his wounds are in need of his abilities he mutters a spell trying to concentrate despite the goo hanging from his beard and causes Xiltas to be shimmered in a holy light, refreshing and invigorating him while stopping the blood coming from his wounds. Not quite healed all the way he still looks much better.
Content with his work on the wounds he tries to get out of his own dilemma and tries to use pull his way out of the goo. However, drained from expending so much healing energy he comes up short and has to wait to try to regain his energy, but with a boulder heading his way, it may be too late.
