Thorsden Progress Thread.
Rolls will also be done here. (I don't see a reason for a separate rolling thread, I never really did.) Everyone has spears. Your meager party arrives at the base of a great mountain, rising approximately 2,800 meters into the sky. The base of the mountain, and about 400 meters up is sparsely wooded. A fair sized river (approximately 10 meters across) twists around to the east of the mountain and towards you. It is approximately 400 meters away to your west. You currently can't see the other side of the mountains, nor do you know any real details about the mountain (composition, types of trees, fish in the water?) until you investigate further. It will take a long time to fully investigate the whole mountain, so I suggest starting locally. (Thread not open Until ALL threads finished) Red is embark, green scribbles are dense trees and green dots are scarce trees. The river is blue, with mountain runoff in blue as well. ![]() IN YOUR FIRST POST, LIST WHAT YOU BROUGHT WITH YOU. Survey points every three hundred yards unless a fair sight is found before the next point(2-5)
All points will be marked with a wood Stake and a number cut into them .All Samples taken from those points will be marked with (white chalk) the corresponding stakes number from the survey point it came from. 1)A sample from a survey point:five or six fist size rocks of the assorted geological type(Granite ,quartz, slate, conglomerate ) 2)Sights chosen:By streams and around larger stones, where ore coming off the mountain could get trapped 3)Larger streams where the current coming down stream moves into a pool of still water 4)In Gullys:Points where the upper layers have worn away by means of a small stream or violent shift 5)Caves:only small samples from near mouth of the cave All Samples will be collected at the end of the day and crushed into smaller pieces and the Minerals then seperated and identified. they will then be mapped(Laid out on a master spread sheet to determine best sight to start after all data is collected. |

As you were exploring near the river, the first thing you notice is the color of the river. It is slightly reddish, and though possibly safe to drink, it is obvious there is Iron either under the river or up stream. Fish seem to be swimming plentifully in the slower running parts of the river.
__________________When you return to camp your results are mostly uninteresting rock, though you do find a small nuggets of silver, though you know it's very likely that it came from runoff of the mountain. You've also found a varying amount of coal in most locations. |

Coltar looks around. Seeing no one is taking charge of the defenses of party with the wagons and gear Coltar realizes something needs to happen and takes charge. He didn't want to be in charge of defenses, far from it. But until the mayor or guards step up someone needed to do something.
Coltar steps up on his wagon. Those of us not busy with the survey, lets get these wagons out of plane site. We'll hide them behind trees and brush. Next we need to cut a bunch of branches, sharpen them and stick them in the ground pointing out. Then we'll go to a guard rotation. Coltar was far more interested in smithing, looking over all his gear, but the group needed to get organized first. |

Day 2
Stirn will have Anir Ovk working with him on survey point going west 1 mile from camp Stirn will direct Bazdi Aar and Azel Bolmor to work on Survey points going East using same guide lines as Stirn (Listed above) Nali Darrn and B'tai Raar will start a base camp Cave and Small waal Defence at the point where the steam forks into three off shoots. The Survey points will go 1 mile in both directions around the base of the mountain then both groups will climb to the next logical elevation of level status and go back in the direction of the Base camp making survey point in the same manner of frequency but offset to the lower survey points(Like a checker board pattern) Taking them back to camp Stirn will continue to analyze them.the other three miners will then assist Nali and B'tai. The Laborers will assist the miners in moving the mined stone away from the opening. Once the Miners have been lined out in the early morning Stirn will call the Mayor and any other over for a meeting to discuss what he has found and observed about the mountain so far. Day Two
__________________Tinker will follow the mayor's orders. If he is not given any, then he will find a pick and get coal. (They aren't being used by the miners. Yet.) Tinker will also need one of the other dwarves to accompany him, as he cannot read the map. Likely one of the NPCs. EDIT: Taking twenty on the STR check, for a total of 19. I'll take ten if that's available but twenty isn't. Last edited by NEON725; 08-26-2010 at 01:21 PM. |
