Nekon is able to help Nilheim into the tomb.
__________________The two of you can only see as far as the torch light allows, past that a wall of heavy darkness seems to hang down from the stairway. The tunnel is barely over six feet in height, passable by average sized humans, and cramped for most half-orc. Kevdak's hair would almost be brushing the ceiling. The stairs seem to be cut from the stone, itself. They are damp and worn smooth with age. The walls are hewn, and capped in flagstone on either side. Corstine and Kevdak lean over the edge of the tomb, peering down into the stairwell... |

Fenris leaps with grace and ease onto the rim of the tomb. The wolf looks particularly pleased with himself as he walks along the edge, casting glances at Nilheim now and then. Corstine chuckles quietly, setting her club and shield on the edge of the tomb before pulling herself up. It's not with as much ease as Fenris, but she doesn't need anyone's assistance as she swings her legs up.

Nilheim wouldn't have really minded the help, if it hadn't come in the form of his collar getting grabbed. "I woulda made it... Sometime." He tells Nekon as he brushes himself off, which is rather a ridiculous motion at this point. Like all good rogues, he takes lead momentarily as he takes the first step of the stairs, eyes scanning over them in search of anything that may or may not be planning on hurting him or his comrades.

As the party enters the stairway, most of you can only see as far as the torchlight offers. The air is warm and close, pressing to your robes and sticking to your skin. The night air outside of the tomb is a vivid contrast to your sense, fostering a sense of longing to stay above, away from this place.. |

Kevdak sniffs the air, his nose twitching... something seems off, and he reaches his arm outward toward the hall the torch burning brightly in his grip. He narrows his eyes against the dark, straining his ears to try and ascertain if his suspicions are correct... and the group is indeed not alone...

Corstine descends into the tomb behind the half-orc, Fenris just ahead of her. The wolf keeps his head low to the ground, eyes peering further down the hallway. Corstine looks nervously from left to right, feeling uncomfortable so far removed from out of doors. There's nothing natural in here, unless corpses count, and she's not sure they do. She already wants to leave, but she's been left with little choice.

The torchlight is enough to give Nilheim confidence --though, it seems to be quite difficult to break the halfling's will--. "Of course there is a princess." He replies quickly to Corstine, flashing her a quick grin. "We'll go grab her, and figure out how to get out of this hell hole, yeah?"
Sensing a bit of discomfort from her, all need for stealth is temporarily thrown off. He begins to whistle something softly, the tune sounding very much like something you would sing or hum over the bed of a young child to calm him, or her, down. |

In response to Corstine, Nekon says. "I think it's probable that the human wizard brought us here to be devoured by the ill-at-rest denizens." Scowling at Nilheim's noises, he says "It might be obvious that there are undead down that passage, but I can always find out for sure if need be."

"But why?" Corstine continues, perplex. She smiles briefly at Nilheim's whistling, but if it truly puts her at ease, it doesn't show. "They chose us, there were other adventurers there. Why would they select people just to die?" She can't wrap her head around it-- or doesn't want to. "There must be a reason we're here."

"The only thing I can think of," Nekon replies, "Is the possibility that he wanted to clear us out of the picture to claim the reward alone." The elf grunts in frustration, as he finishes his thought. "But going that far for land or a few trinkets? It doesn't make sense."

Slowly, two glowing red eyes glint in the torchlight, and a gaunt face pierces the veil of darkness. Clawed fingers grip at the stone stairs.

Lock it's sight onto the Half-Orc, the closest and largest of the party, it suddenly charges forward, claws extended at the Orc's chest. It swipes wide and crashes it's nearly barren skull into the Half-Orc's stomach, hissing it's unnatural rage! Last edited by Causa; 09-25-2010 at 01:14 AM. |

Nilheim continues whistling even after the creature attacks the half-orc, though the tune increases in speed as he prepares himself for a fight.

This ghastly creature turn it's attention to the spell-casting Elf, it's red eyes narrow and it bounds towards Nekon.
