Baby Girl grazes lazily while Oddwin talks to her. Scratch hops off Jack only long enough to take his supplies from Baby Girl's pack. He takes several unidentifiable objects and shoves them into his haversack, which very clearly shows itself to be magical due to it's held volume. He remounts Jack and urges the Mule towards the cave. The mule seems a bit hesitant to enter the spooky cave, but does so nonetheless.

"I dunno if they're peaceful or not, but if they're talking to the mage, they're at least up for discussion."

If they peaceful things, we ask them questions. If the want fight, we ask them harder. The Grick smiles broadly. Grick, incidentally, is ugly for an orc or a half-orc. Scars are signs of bravery and courage, and since half-orcs were not popular allys to orcs the clan leader, Gricks father, had he and his brother Grack beat each other across the face with whips a few hours a day, everyday, for the past 11 years. (He is 15, which is 18 in human years). Grick and Grack enjoyed their bonding time, a fact which is visible in Grick's wicked looking smile.

Fredrick watches as the group begins to prepare to enter the cave. Fredricks preparations consisted of watching the antics of the gnome. As Fredrick had very little to carry, and didn't wield a weapon, he was almost always ready.

I'm sure that if the Dryads are here they will be willing to talk. However, in my experience, caves are often filled with brutish monsters, bandits, or some other similar miscreant.

All of you have become close to the entrance now. Their seems to be natural light coming from the cave at all. The Captain stands by the door and looks towards Issac with a sneer. Issac rushes up to meet him, and they exchange words quickly. Soon, the Captain and the Left Guard disappear into the natural darkness of the cave. You all have reached the entrace, and must dismount to go into the cave itself. Issac stands at the mouth, sword and shield in hand, but not at ready. He seems angry about something. He makes a signal to all of you to hurry up.

Planing on continuing his trot all the way up till the door Ranz stops abruptly when he see Issac with sword in hand. "Excuse me, we are going to talk to a friend who is talking to friends: where does the need for arms play into that?" As he enters the cave he takes out his Everburning torch and follows into the cave, ensuring to have someone big in front of him, and someone else big behind.

Jinx strides into the cave, gracefully and forcefully, her hand straying of its own accord near the handle of her pick. She leaves Genevieve at the entrance with a few gentle words, and sets her pace to catch up quickly with the captain and left guard. To Ranz she says, There is an ill wind, though I don't know why. Something is amiss. I think Isaac feels it as well. And the captain.... There is something about him that sets me ill at ease. Rule 53: Trust your gut. I think we all should take caution.

With a glance between the three guards, her gaze settles on the captain, while rule 63 flitters through her mind unbidden: Not every lawman is just.

I agree, something seems strange about this whole scenario. Best be on our guards.

Fredrick slowly follows after Jinx and Grick, preferring to stay behind the beefy front-liners. The presence of his spells in the back of his mind are a constant reminder that he is not here to watch however, and he prepares himself for the worst. Perhaps this was some sort of trap, and these guards had lured them hear to kill them after what had happened in the tavern.

Issac looks towards Ranz. He seems uneasy. "I'm not the one who wants to be armed, lad." He doesnt move, and you guess he has been put on guard duty. All of you have now entered the caves, with Ranz having a torch to light the way. The walls are cold, and noise is amplified by how close the walls are. You can hear the guards up ahead of you, but you cannot see them just yet. You can barely see their torch from afar. The cave seems unaturally dark. You are all leading yourself down a steep tunnel.

After awhile, you realize that the guards ahead of you are not there anymore. Their light seems to have vanished. The group then comes across two paths, one stretching to the left, one to the right.

What do you guys do?
(You may make random spot, listen, etc. checks)

Scratch looks left, then right. He whispers to Jack:

"Track guards, Jack."

Mules have scent, so Jack can tell which way they went through smell. Also, Baby Girl is staying outside with that guard. She's not trained for much more than riding, but the guard is free to sit on her if his feet were to get tired. Also, Scratch draws out a small Rapier and a Dagger. The Rapier seems like a thin-bladed average dagger, and the Dagger just looks like a sharpened, pointy butterknife. If he's an aspiring fighter, he'd best have some skill with those. The dagger is so small and cute, you'd barely think it can cut cheese (Which Jack also does, btw).

Frowning in annoyance, Jinx goes to the left, drawing a deep breath through her nose at the edge of the tunnel, then repeats the action at the edge of the right tunnel.

OOCJinx has the scent ability.

Seeing Jinx sniffing around the paths, Fredrick is reminded of one of his spells he had forgotten to cast at dawn as he normally would Calling upon his Fiendish heritage, Fredrick imbues himself with minor Serpents Tounge invocation. I gain Scent and +5 fort to poisons for 24 hours.serpent-like abilities. He moves over and aids Jinx in her smelly search, trying to see if he can locate the guards scents.

Ranz is baffled by the people sniffing the halls, but more or less ignores them. "I have this sort of creed, always turn left and you can never get lost." he says as he leans towards the left tunnel, but waits for a consensus before moving.
