You are considered Epic when your ECL goes past 20. You can take Epic Feats and such, but don't forget that you no longer can increase your base saves and base attacks except by Epic bonuses.

This means that if you were 12/8 Rogue/Fighter and you gain a level in Fighter, you don't increase your saves and BAB based on the Fighter chart, but based on the Epic Level Chart in the Epic Level handbook. Any feat gain through your class can be used to gain normal feats or Epic feats, but you may only take epic feats from the feat list of the class you are progressing in (List is in epic handbook, rules for this is taken from Epic Handbook Pg 8, just before the description of the Epic Barbarian...)

I thought it would be when your HD goes past 20?

Or is it--a half-celestial (ECL+4) with 16 levels of fighter gains another level, they're considered epic as far as BAB/Save progressions and stuff go, even though they've only got 16 HD?

(If so, then there's yet another serious drawback to playing races/templates with high ECL+ ratings...the BAB would stay seriously lower than non-ECL+ races, as after epic the BAB progression is only 1/2 compared to most classes with 3/4 or 1...)

It's based on character level, not hit dice. So, if you have an ECL of +4 and 17 character levels, you are considered Epic (because your character level is effectively 21).

Does a holy symbol need to have to be blessed for a cleric to use? If so or not, could a cleric take a number of points in Craft (woodwork) or (silver smith) and make their own symbol?

Yes I would believe so, you can make your own holy symbol if you want to. But if you do a poor job of it, you may end up with a defective Holy symbol (personally as a DM, if your Craft doesn't pass a DC of 10, I would say that the Holy symbol is a makeshift-quality level holy symbol that has a penatly yo Turning undead or the like... but that's just me)

Hmm- I would agree with that. I wouldn't make it too rough though, perhaps -1 per 3 points below the DC with it being completely useless on a roll of a 1.

Cool, thanks. That was one of those things which come to light when you are trying to go to sleep and you can fall to sleep and strange thoughts come to mind.

This is quite an amazing page at wizards and all of the information is free. http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/arch/rg A number of questions may be answered by going here and reading through it first.

I have a question for those who understand psionic classes.
I've found a class named Soulknife, which doesn't seem to gain power points. Do Soulknives gain power points due to the bonus from ability (int, wis, cha) and if they do then from which one? And one more thing: Soulknives gain the Wild Talent feat at first level which gives them 2 power points. Does that mean that Soulknives can manifest some psionic powers too? And what if I choose a race that is naturally psionic and gains power points from itself? Can I use them then?

I've quoted the Sage's "Rules of the Game" column a few times in this forum. I particularly like how he explains the rules of movement, stacking, and the variations of shapechanging (which are worded horribly in the descriptions of the spells/abilities in the PHB).

It doens't say, but IF I were DM I would say yes and base it off Wis OR whater your race's power uses. (unless you have a power there is no need to worry about it)

Only if it is from thier race or another class.

Yes. For instance if you are a half-giant you get +2 pp and stomp + your 2 pp from Wild Talent. So you have 4 pp to use to boost stomp.

Again IF I were your DM I would say you get extra pp for a high Cha. since thats what the Half-giant stomp is based off of. OR if you mulit class (even non psionic) I would use that classes key ability (Int, Wis, or Cha)

A soulknife does not gain any other power points other than what is given by the wild talent feat. If they did, the class would say so, and as it does not then one must automatically assume that a soulknife does not gain any more power points. Each class also states where it might get bonus power points from, and as a soulknife does not mention this, it means that they do not gain more power points.

Quote:
WILD TALENT [GENERAL]
Your mind wakes to a previously unrealized talent for psionics.
Benefit: Your latent power of psionics flares to life, conferring upon you the designation of a psionic character. As a psionic character, you gain a reserve of 2 power points and can take psionic feats, metapsionic feats, and psionic item creation feats. You do not, however, gain the ability to manifest powers simply by virtue of having this feat.
This means that a soulknife cannot manifest any powers (unless they take a level in one of the other psionic classes.). In any case, all of this information is readily available if you just take the time to look it up (like I just did).

Thank you all for your help.
And don't worry, I took the time. In fact I've found everything I wanted BUT I didn't understand it perfectly and THAT is the reason I ask. The reason is NOT that I'm too lazy to find it out.
But as I've said, thanks for your help.
And Valistar: You didn't have to answer me. No-one forced you into it and in addition Xeion answered my questions perfectly so do not blame myself for letting you finding this info without a good reason.

For further clarification: The Soulknife is given the Wild talent feat so that they can manifest their soulknife ability (Staed in the book). This is their only 'psionic' power. Anything else should have been covered..

Yes but this feat is what confuses me most. Why to give Soulknife power points when the ability to conjure his mind blade costs nothing? He does not have any ability that costs him any power point. So this is why I asked if he has anything I didn't notice... *Danny shrughs his shoulders*
