LA Buyoff here

From what I have gathered, I will be able to reduce the LA by one at ELC 9, 15, and 18. When I hit level 9, I can pay (Current ELC -1 x 1000) exp to reduce my LA by one. So when I would hit ELC 9, I would pay 8000 exp to be rid of a level of LA, making me ELC 8 and 8000 exp behind everyone else, but overall I am better off because I don't have that LA hanging over my head. Similarly, at ELC 15 I pay 14k, and 18 I pay 17k.

I would make the argument that in hybrid form, or once I attained the level of warshaper and was able to grow claws without actually 'shifting' in human form, I would retain a climb speed of 20.

oh, hey Joc, that's right, you kind of came in late didn't you? Your history might only need to be some couple sentences long, unless you have a very unusual background, like explaining why you got caught up in the affairs of the greater world. Otherwise, all you need to do is explain why, at the start of the adventure - which we won't be RPing out now that we're starting at 10 - you were on the Wizard's isle. Centris was a very important city, controlled arcane magic and the Reich across the known world, no lord or lady was without a Centris Wizard in their court.

Oh, sure, alright. I could say that she went to Centris first because she wanted to ease herself into human(oid) culture without dealing with the surprise and fear recieved from being a magical creature in more mundane parts of the world.

Do i have to edit it to say that she is still there now, or that that's where she met the group?

No, just why you were there in the first place. Though at this point of the story, it won't make a whole lot of difference.

Read the first post in the new "Flashbacks" thread. You met in the manner described, and since then had many adventures together that led to your having gotten as much XP as you have now. You all felt tied together mostly by the tragedy of the events you witnessed together. It might have been the best therapy available to you to stick together.

Recently, you've been able to move on a bit; each of you having gone your various ways, but you meet several times a year. That is where this game will start up; the appointed time and place to meet once again with your fellow survivors to see how those closer than family to you have fared in the months since you last saw each other.

We can (and will!) be referencing "past events" even if we didn't play through them.

Hi, I've been off on a weekend camp for the last two days, so there might be some delays with me if the game has already started (I'll also have to modify Vens stats and level him up a ton, plus buying all his stuff)

Oh yeah, that was the other thing. Because I didn't want a rolling thread, where does one level up? I do have a thread for that, I'd like for everyone to keep a 'log' of what changes they make at each level, and this includes but see special rule about re-rollsrolling for HP.

Tomorrow I shall hopefully finish my character bio. I have some of the basics down, although I still am not sure on the base race (I have wild elf picked currently), or a name. The NAME is the big one. What would were creatures name their children? Lol..

Err, something I forgot about. Are we sticking to class alignment restrictions? I will have to change my alignment to some kinda lawful if we are. Also, will people who take monk (me) be allowed to further progress as monks after leaving the class for a prestige class?

Been slowly working On Ven for a little while, I'm not done yet but I think I'm pretty far along (if anyone looks at the sheet now note that I might still change stuff) really just down to choosing my spells and powers and spending my gold

And while we're on that matter I'd like to change my prohibited spell schools from enchantment and abjuration to enchantment and necromancy if that's okay with our DM

How'd I do what? Get that much time off? I'm disabled, and been living on the margins from disability checks. Now that all my kids are in school, I can get a job during school hours.

Yes you may change your schools as much as you like for now until we actually start.

You may go back into Monk after leaving to pay off your race - I never really saw what that rule was for. Alignments don't really count in this game, just like in RL, people are people. Even very good people can do bad things, and evil people can show mercy, so don't worry about alignments too much (try to stick to a lawful mindset though). To me (for humanoids) alignment is more like a guideline than a fast quality of your character. No one will be able to smite you with a Smite ability, and Detect Evil won't be able to help you sift through a crowded restaurant for they guy you're chasing (although they guy who is meeting the woman for lunch he's been cheating on his wife with would show up, even though he also works at the hospital). Undead and outsiders will always match their alignment.

Hey I've never played a wizard before so I had a few questions about spellbooks

1) Is there any rule that says you can't have more than one spellbook (using more than one to prepare some spells from each)
2) By spells taking 1 page does that mean both front and back or only 1 side of the page?
3) Are you allowed to not take some of the starting cantrips in order to free up some pages in your spellbook (wanted to cut out ray of frost and dancing lights to make space for Mirror Image)
