Chapter 2 The Threat of Truth The men gathered around the throne all wear the green and yellow patterned robes of the council. The intricacy and variety of the pattern mark them as the Nine...the full council members who rule the entire mage's order, and the advisers to the King. As the party enters the throne room, the King's voice rises above the others, as the man stands on the raised dais of his throne. "Enough! This is not happening, I will outlaw the entire Council before approving anything like-" The King's decree to the group is cut short as the Nine eye one another, exchanging nods, before unleashing a full array of spells onto the King. A shimmering red hand ensnares the aging man, holding him still and straight as a group of whirling blades manifest around the man, slicing into him on all sides. The King's mouth moves in the cry of a scream, but no sound escapes as a blue dome closes down on the man. Beams of frost, fire, and other destructive energies fire into the King, and in a moment his body is merely ash and soot. Seeing the magical display and knowing that he is likely to die by these evil mages hands Comme feels the handles of his two finest blades, dropes his pack, makes a burst of speed 30 ft.forward, and

Eli Stands for but a moment in pure shock as his mind flails about trying to grasp the reality of what has just occurred. At last snapping back into the moment The cleric lets his hand drop to his side graving his mace as he cries out GUARDS!!! To Arms, The council has slain the king! Her highness Aoibheann yet lives ! To arms! To arms! Pelor save us, the councils power is likely far beyond our own! Eli Moves quickly coming up to stand next Comme ready to protect the boy in any way he can.

Drake is in awe as to what just happened to the king. This cannot be. He was a good king.
Drake in his fury pushes Comme out of the way and charges the closest council member drawing his bastard sword as he runs. Get the Princess to safety I will sacrifice my self for her safety. GO!! Warning: rolls have been deleted from this post.

As the party charges in towards the Council Wizards, a massive blue bell of energy manifests above the throne. It's ringing vibrates through the room, each tolling of the bell painful to a normal person's hearing. Smaller versions pop into existence all through the room and down the hallways. The sound seems to fill the entire castle.
__________________The tolling seems to subdue for a moment, as H4one of the Council Wizards speaks. "This is Flindell, Conjurer of the Council and Advisor to the Throne!" He calls out. His words appear to emanate from each of the tiny bells, his voice spreading throughout all of the Palace at once, easily audible to any in it's vicinity. "King Morhion has been slain!" He calls, "All Royal Guardsmen and Council members to Arms. Stop the interlopers!" As the claxon resumes sounding, a massive steel gate begins to slowly descend Q8/9behind the party. A slight figure steps from the hallway remaining in the shadows beyond the gate, habitum prodigium she blurts toward the group. She stands there for a moment then waves for the group to follow her as she disappears back around the corner.

As the claxon sounds, Princess Aoibheann lifts her gown and runs towards the party, and the gate. Drake, Comme, and Solyon manage to duck under the gate as it's magically held for a second longer. Just as the trio duck beneath the gate, the massive steel structure slams down behind them, with a hissing SNAP as the mysterious woman's spell is undone.
__________________The instant the gate falls, layers upon layers of color begin falling around it, in thick sheets, popping into existence: Red - Orange - Yellow - Green - Blue - Indigo - Violet As the Violet wall appears, A pair of thick, heavy chains of magical energy form a giant X across the gate. Corstine and Fenris turn and run towards the gate, but a black Finger of Deathbeam of necrotic energy slams into the female druid's back. For a second her eyes roll back into her head and her skin pales dramatically, before she simply falls over, completely dead. Her form drops literally inches from the gate. Fenris turns and growls towards the Wizard. His fangs beared and his back arched for combat, the massive wolf charges towards the Wizard. Just as effortlessly, a Disintegratebolt slams into the wolf, however. His skeleton flashes through his skin for an instant, before the creature literally explodes into ashe, which slowly settled to the blue marble floor. Last edited by Causa; 01-02-2011 at 04:47 PM. |

As Drake runs he puts the scimitar in his pack and draws his shortbow and notches an arrow to be ready to attack if need be. As the party makes it out into the hallway, security gates begin to drop every twenty-five feet or so, on both sides, dividing the hallway into segments, trying to immobilize any intruders. Last edited by Causa; 01-02-2011 at 08:46 PM. |

As Comme makes his mad dash to the exit he grabs his pack and slides under the gate. "I never would have made that if it weren't for you thank you very much ummmm savior." Sliding his pack back into place the rogue

The Council mages begin firing spells at the gate, trying to defeat the impressive magic security. The party can hear the impact of spells just a few feet behind them, as orders are barked through the lesser bells of magical energy, which hang in the air every ten feet or so, filling the hallway. "The intruders are outside the throneroom!" Flindell shouts, "Cut them down! By my personal order, Slay these men and avenge your King!"
