martigan just rests against some rocks and tries to sleep while the others try and figure out what to do.

Kindli nudges the sick dwarf a little, rousing him from a distracted state that he was in. The dwarf doesn't appear to be doing too well. Kindli juts her head out, gesturing towards the fog. It seems as though she wants him to move forward, closer towards the fog.
__________________Kindli looks towards Neira and tilts her head. Neira nods in affirmation. She had the same idea. She whispers, It'll be good if we move a little closer, so that we can help our goblinoid companion if he needs it. We can also track his little grappling hook to make sure that we know how he's doing. With that, the triplet move 20 feet closer to the fog, still standing a good 20-30 feet outside it's range. Both of them try to remain very quiet and listen for any signs that they'll be needed. Last edited by Magnai; 05-06-2012 at 01:37 PM. |

This was bad. No, strike that, this was more than bad. In fact it was exactly the reason nobody sane entered a black fog where they would be unable to see and where enemies were near. Without knowing his enemy he had entered a battlefield that he knew disabled his most important sense. If stupidity could be measured, its new unit was the Kolik. Although, if Kolik's most recent lapse in judgment was one Kolik, fractions would be necessary in order to make it practical. Damn it! Kolik needed to see! Powers, let him see! You all hear a commotion happen in the cavern. It's coming from deeper into the passageway and a little to the left. That's got to be where the sneak was going down. You don't hear a whistle or the goblin's voice asking for help but Kindli and Neira look towards each other, knowing that something is going down.
__________________Kindli points to the dwarf, who holds his hand out for the torch. Neira gives it to him and the sick dwarf hobbles over towards the cloud. It looks as though the torch helps the cloud. The torch seems to cast a light 5feet from it and very dim light another 5 feet from it. Kindli points and the sickly dwarf hobbles deeper into the cave, with Kindli close behind. Neira stands back and has her crossbow at the ready. |

Seeing his compainions move forward, Belnan wrenches his hands apart (a difficult thing to do mentally, as he had just been starting into the 5th form of Thwa-tum twiddling, which was incredibly complex and required immense concentration) and jumps up, hefting Ingeborg. He follows close behind them. As they enter the odd darkness, he realizes that his low-light vision ability only allows him to see about ten feet in front of the torch. He huddles in closer to Kindli, hoping that those sounds are only Kolik bumbling about and not something large, scaly and/or possessing pointy teeth.

Martigan smiles and open his eyes at the small commotion everyone is making as they scramble to help the goblin.

Kolik hears the noise getting closer and closer to him at an alarmly quick rate. He can quickly tell that there's a large creature probably running directly at him. It doesn't sound like it's friendly because, by the sound of it, it seems like it's either getting ready to smash his skull into the stone or trample the small goblin.
__________________Martigan hears the commotion and threatening footsteps from down the cavern. They've got to be reasonably close, but he can't see anything at all in this light. The others, closer to the torch, might feel the claustraphobia of the very small, enclosed space that they are experiencing. The light of the torch really doesn't give them very much to work with. It seems like they'll just be working to respond to whatever springs out at them. Kindli allows the dwarf to walk to the center of the pathway into the cave, right at a bifurcation that seems to go both right and left. She stands right behind the sick one, who seems to moan and whimper in pain. She seems to be desperately looking out, standing in a defensive stance and hoping to see whatever comes out at her before it lobbs off her head. Neira stands right behind the two dwarves with the torch, ready to drop it and start desperately trying to respond to whatever is going on. She feels like she might be forgetting about something useful. |

Martigan pulls his sword and looks to see if its gentile glow is enough to light his path. if not, he continues with his sword drawn and the arrow feeling out the cave walls that lead him on. Something is coming.... he says in an almost a joyous tone.

Helplessness was misery the goblin concluded, or at least the tiny part of his mind that was still calm did. All his usual tricks hinged on being able to orient himself and read his enemy. As quickly as he could, he started taking out the slack of the rope to give himself a straight line out and his companions a straight line in. Kolik stuck the whistle between his lips, and as soon as the rope was taut and he could start back out, blew three sharp bursts.
He didn't know if it would help, but he was fairly certain it would hurt. If nothing else, the others would know something bad had happened and exercise caution. ...Although, it might prompt them to come charging into this blackness after him, getting themselves killed along with the sneak- Oh well. One thing Belnan feared almost as much as sleep, was the dark. Dark precipitated sleep. Sleep precipitated bad things that lead to death. From his right, a nightmarish darkness seems to claw at him. From his left, the same thing! Ahead, above, beneath...everywhere he looks, darkness closes in on him like a heavy, suffocating blanket! He begins to tremble. A noise from his right yanks his head around, but of course he cannot see anything, cannot see something! Something that is approaching...Belnan screams. Belnan's scream echos through the chambers, clearly alerting everyone to your arrival. In fact, the deafening sound reverberates in your own head. Kindli darts back and stares at Belnan, declaring, Get a hold of yourself! Now is not the time to loose your head. We've got people out there.
Both Kindli and Neira stand there, frozen. Neither of them seem to want to enter the darkness, but Belnan can tell that they are not pleased that Kolik and Martigan have not come back yet. Neira listens attentively and then cries, By the power vested in me, come back here as fast as you can! With that, she holds out her hand and Belnan can see the light come from her eyes. It cuts through the darkness and you see a dog appear to the left of the sickly dwarf. The dog seems to glow with light and make it so the space immediately around it is immune to the darkness. The dog yips and then darts into the black. Meanwhile, Kolik and Martigan hear this commotion. When Kolik tugs on the rope, Martigan feels a rope come up from the ground and snag him from his left side. It makes him stumble a little. Kolik senses the tension on the rope and the irregularity from it hitting Martigan, but might not know what the irregularity is from. After the yipping, Martigan feels a furry creature run past him, but he can't make out what it was. All he felt was the brush of fur and air go by his leg. Kolik doesn't notice a similar phenomenon, but he does hear the patter of little feet coming towards him. Kolik can also hear the stomping of those huge feet coming ever closer. It seems like there's more energy in the charging steps. |

Martigan hears Niera's words and turn around going back the way he came. man I can't see a thing in here. he makes sure his arms are lax as he anticipates to strike back should he be targeted by anything even with Belnan screaming in fear..

Enough of his wits are still present for the gnome to realize that the screaming might actually bring trouble, and so clamping his jaws shut he stops and stands there, wide-eyed and trembling.

Kolik knew perfectly well what it meant when he felt the rope touch something, it meant that Kolik was going to run into something. With luck it was just a cave wall, with less luck it was a spear carefully prepared to greet him. No matter, the sneak only had this one way out and had to use it. He did not even consider using his last bag of caltrops, but just moved as fast as he could along the rope.
