More groups? I don't fallow, but....
I owe my Life to Kindli for bringing me back from the brink of death. I would owe your friend but its more of making sure his work goes as planned.

He thinks for a second. oh sorry. I must have slurred. I meant the 2 factions. he shakes his head as he thinks of Fractions.
I have only heard of the Orcs and Dwarfs that have been waring and for some reason have not come near this place.

Of course this is the extent of my knowledge and I haven't heard news from the town crier or any postings. hmmm I really should put of a job posting board in here so i can get some quick work.

Abel nods in affirmation. Surprisingly, for all the talking that he implies that he does, he's being a remarkable listener and being quite patient. He just looks at you and allows you to talk your thoughts out.

You get the sense that he already knows what's in your head, but he likes to hear you say it.

He doesn't seem to move at all as the words flow out of your mouth. It's like he's an expressionless shell.

so as you can see I am at an impasse, Raph has taken an oath to protect everyone by fallowing his gods rules, which I have yet to read and see what the rules are.
He even vowed to strike me down even if I were to assault the gone in any way even if it was well within my right to do so for being assaulted first.

Martigan stands and paces back and forth as he continues, anger growing in his voice. Who is his god to say weather I am in the right or wrong. they only care about having more followers. Whey don't they walk the earth instead of having us do their dirty work.
He stops and looks to able bringing his hand in an uppercut punch but stops at chest level and points a finger to the sky like a preacher giving a sermon.
And who does he think he is. If I assault the gnome he threatens to take my life even at the cost of sin. but he kills Hobgoblins and orc's left and right not letting them at least leave with their life. what kind of follower of the cloth is he? a paladin would have struck him down 3 days ago should one have been present.

He calms down a bit thinking about what he had been doing.
Well..... I'm not a follower if the cloth and I'll strike down any one who tries to take my life. hell I even saved one of the hobgoblins from the brink of death. Martigan feels Abel's eye on him. YES! YES! I admit it was for my own gain or I should say our gain seeing as that little guy's tongue would have let us know if we were well prepared for the fight.

But they are gone now and I am left with nothing but my debt to Kindli. Yeah I know I screwed up but that damn gnome and his slapping was the last straw and my anger got the better of me....... For gods sakes I was killed, and given another chance, that is not something that "emotionally" you just forget about and it angered me to no end that the orc bested me, that they did not keep formation. that the casters did not use that greasy stuff on the pit walls. it all got to me.

He stops and looks to the ground cupping his chin in his hand with his thumb and index finger latching on to each side of his jaw.
I think it might be best if I just finish the job on my own. I spent almost all my money to heal my self in combat and no longer rely on them.
He looks at his bracers and amulet and runs his fingers over them.
You know.... these were going to be a gift to kindly for saving my life. He sighs letting his hands fall to his sides and turns his back to Able as he looks into the pitch black darkness that surrounds them both. But now that moment is gone and ruined.

He looks to Abel. I would ask you, "what should I do?" but to tell you the truth, I think I should figure this all out on my own.
Martigan smiles at able. Thanks Able, you always have all the answers.

Abel looks at his open hand and his closed hand. He looks up and seems very very confused. He looks from side to side, seeming to quest whether Martigan was really talking to him. He shrugs nonchalantly. I am glad you could stay a while and listen to my answers, even though I am unsure how I gave them. You are coming a far way.

He looks over you and tries to see your emotions. He can see your thoughts quite well but emotions are harder. So what now? Are you to build up your name and learn the ways of Tristrast or are you to move on? Or are you to find others that you can join with so that you can join with your former group later? Abel listens to your answers intently.

Martigan thinks a bit on Abel's questions. I don't know......
I want to do so much but have little time. a name would be of great use to me, and I think I need a little time away from the others lest I kill the gnome on sight for bringing my world crashing down around me.

He continues to think. I'm thinking of finding some one who can help me with Barbarianmy anger. Help to channel it away form the others. Might you know of such a person? I'll be sure to visit them after I work out a little frustration out in the forest.

OOCRemember that he can only really take direct questions.

I'm sorta bending his rules to be able to respond substantively.

Abel sees into your mind and sees a warrior which focuses his rage towards his target for the sake of his companions. He looks within the image for markers as to where it is. He looks back from his mind towards Martigan and continues, There are many such creatures. You will find them in all walks of life. They are mostly in the square by Griswold wandering around and attempting to best each other. You will find many there. He closes his mouth and hopes that he has managed to be clear enough and give Martigan the answer he desires.

Excellent! Martigan chimes in excitement. well now that that little problem is taken care of. he opens his book and reads off a page.

I'm looking for bracelets that are black with green streaks on them. They become one with the wearer and bring them closer to the elements of nature. do know know where such bracelets exists?

Abel nods. The little ones with their silent friend asked about these as well. Come closer. The old man holds out his left hand and you see a large reptilian creature materialize and walk around on his hand. You see that it is wandering around in a watery place. The image materializes and you see that it resides within a tube like thing that you could find underground or perhaps within a cave. There is earthen material all around the walls of the tube.

Abel watches his work with you then looks up towards you with the creature still materialized on his hand. Does that answer your question?

Abel giggles and shakes his head. This manifestation alone takes great power. It is impossible to give you a full image without transporting your mind there, which is extremely difficult and risky. Abel hopes that Martigan and hopes that he knows what to do. He wishes that he could help more but he's worried that Martigan will have many many things to do today. He does need to find more friends.

Martigan leans closer looking at the small creature and wonders if he has seen this creature before in books or heard it in a story on his travels. what is that thing....
Well maybe you can help me with something else? do you know which direction of the caves, where Kindli and Raph spoke about getting their armor and other items?
He pulls out 2 silver pieces and places them in the open hand of Abel. It's not much and I wish I could give more but its all I can afford for right now.
He scratches his head. don't bother giving it back, think of it as services rendered.

oocrolled 9 for nature, and 23 for dungeon. for knowledge checks on the creature.

Martigan is able to see that the creature is in some sort of cave. He guesses that it's probably towards the west because there are more caves around there. Towards the east there are other outposts and there's the land of the orcs. They tend to make sure that there are no caves that dwarves can hide in.

Martigan doesn't recognise the animal past that it must be reptilian.

Abel shakes his head. You need to pay me. I do well with my identification service. The cave that the others got their gifts from is towards the west. I believe that only Kindli, Devin or Neira could lead you there. There are too many to direct you there. Sometimes I wonder if they are all portals to another location and the caves decide which one you go in, not you. But that's just me. I haven't actually been into one. They're way too far away and they have nasty critters in there.

Abel slowly stands up and reaches towards the heavens and opens up both his hands. The daylight streams back into Martigan's eyes and they sting a little as they accommodate.

Martigan bows to Abel. I thank you from the bottom of my heard Abel. I shall seek out the ones who can help me control my anger at Griswold's place. from there, I think I'll head out and see what all the fuss is about to the west. Martigan waves goodbye as he heads back to Griswold's place.

ooctrying to make a map, the west is where we got out butts handed to us , the east is orc's, the south was the Hut. but where was the War taking place?

Abel waves and watches you leave. You hear him call out to the crowd. Stay a while and listen!

You walk south towards the city wall. You turn left and walk along the town wall. You see that the stairs up to the wall are now open. You may wonder what is up there.

When you reach the southern gate you look at your map and turn left to move closer to the center of the city. You make it to the central square and see that lots of people are around now. They are bustling around and are all looking at you with great interest.

You then turn right down the artery to the south of Griswold's shop. You look to your right and see the now familiar bazaar and then to your left to see the many warriors out and about sparring and trying out various weapons. You notice many people of all different races that you can think of. Here is a sampling of what you see:

Two dwarves in heavy armour and tower shields sparring with long metal swords.
A singular large minotaur in hide armour weilding a particularly large axe
An elf weilding two dual blades, one of which is larger than the other. She seems to have flowing hair and be beating up a wooden sparring dummy with great speed.
A couple halflings in chainmail weilding crossbows and taking aim at targets a good deal away.
A lizard-folk with a polearm sparring with an orc with a grappling hook.
A human with two swords sparring with a gnome with a singular axe and a shield.
A hobgoblin with a particularly large bow just standing around.
A human with a singular sword and a shield sparring with three different opponents: a dwarf with a dagger, a gnome with a polearm and an elf with an axe.
A large orc in hide armour with a particularly large sword swinging at one of the practice dummies.

Martigan walks over and inspects the others fighting. he smiles as he hears the sound of combat. he skirts the area of combat and stops in between 3 of the fighters. The Minotaur seems to be a great candidate to help him with his anger issues. He remembers Baet's notes on integrating the wild beasts into common society.

His eye also catches the Human with the large bow and he smiles even more. Ah a chance to sell my wares to a fellow human. maybe I can get more than what Griswald wanted and I can even part with a few arrows and some healing if he decides to accompany me.
His smile turns into an eye-squinting devilish grin as he sees the female elf. jackpot.....

He tries to size up their ability. who has experience in actual combat rather than just "going through the motions" from training behind walls on only dummies for partners. and who might be able to keep their heads on their shoulders in a fight.

He makes his way to the elf and stands outside of the combat are. taking a seat on a bail of hay for people to rest on. Hay litters the ground both for a softer landing and from the aftermath of the dummies being pulverized.

He takes a look at the Elf, he lens sideways to get a better view of her finely tones assets. My my my, she has got a few moves on her, but can she handle a moving target, or fight through the pain in real combat.

He chuckles to himself thinking of sparing with her, then disarming her, grappling her to the ground but allowing her to be on top. Even though he is visually in control he gives out mock cries of mercy and exclaiming how overpowering she is, and finally feigning death. he shakes his head with a smile. No no, she would only take it as an insult and a warriors pride is something you don't mess with.

He is kind of new to the area and doesn't know if there is a pecking order on who fights who or if you can just walk up to any stranger and ask to spar so eh hits and watches all that goes on for a minute or to wondering if anyone would like to pick on the new guy.

He feels he has a good understanding of the others since they all practice the same type of combat
