OOCCrap... i thought i posted this before i left for work...

"Mhm... I need to settle the big girl in her stable and catch a cat nap before I get a prayer in. I'm bushwacked..." my hand hovers over the phantom slash... "...maybe some sleep will help with the tension." Without paying much attention to anything else I dart outside to get the horse settled in and fed. Returning inside I smile and wave at Atma as I pass by and nodding at the new face... my gaze otherwise fixated towards the stairs.

OOCAssuming i'm not stopped or interrupted, I head to my room, drop off my gear in the closet/chest, catch 2 hours sleep, wake and pray for spells, then head back downstairs to find everyone else.

Martigan enters an hour late and looks around for the others and sees Devin sitting by himself. He shrugs not seeing anyone else and heads to a booth. once situated he stretches and pulls out an apple, munches on it, and dozes off to sleep not fighting it one bit.

Raph goes through the door and walks up the stairs towards the rooms. He listens for any noise on each of the doors and hopes that he can manage to hear Kindli somewhere.

He reaches midway down the hall and hears something inside one of the doors. He opens the door slowly and peeks in. Once you see his face, he sees a small item get flung towards him and hit the door that he is using to block his body. He sees Kindli in the far corner, near the closet, curled up in the fetal position hiding. You look to see what she threw at you but you don't see anything. Must have been something light and meaningless.

Kindli sees that it's Raph and calms down a little, but brings her knees up to her chest and wraps her arms around them, pulling them closer. She places her head on her knees. She speaks slowly and articulately, That monster. He's just so wrong. So incredibly wrong. She shakes her head over and over again.

"Note to self... knock. Knock like my life depends on it." I smile while slowly cracking the door open enough to slip in, leaving the door cracked for a little illumination. I keep near the door and lean back against the wall. "He is a harsh, unruly, ill-mannered cur... But I have faith in people. More so than any man possibly should, I'm sure."

I look around the floor to see if I can better spot what she chucked at me before sliding down the wall to a half seated position on the floor. "Everyone knows, Kindli. Honestly, I think you're the most collected of us in light of everything. You lost someone dear to you, already, then Neira disappeared from out sights, and you maintained. You're a strong woman, Kindli, though that creature was stronger than all of us. There was no way you could've known what it was capable of."

I roll up to my feet and walk closer to Kindli, kneeling within arms reach. "And I also instilled to Martigan before he stormed off after his childish temper tantrum, should he keep up his antics, or try to harm any of you... I would kill him myself with no remorse." I slightly slap Kindli on the side of the arm. "Now come on. There's a certain woman down stairs drowning in ale... we need to salvage the rest of her brain cells." A smile as I nod my head towards the door a few times.

Kindli looks up, desperate for those words that she just heard. I... I am happy that he is gone. I cannot work with him today. He does not know what he does and he is a danger to himself and those around him. Good riddance, I say. She shakes her head and holds out her hand for Raph to help her up. I... I need to go kill some zombies or an orc or two. Can we go do that? Kindli seems to be pleading with her words.

As Raph helps her up, she gets to her feet and wraps her arms around him. He feels the cool metal of her black armour against his skin and doesn't particularly know what to do. She mumbles into his chest, which is about her head level, You are a noble servant of Pelor. I only wish that I could be more like you. She holds the embrace for a little longer then releases and walks towards the door. We do have a crew to keep up.

With good old fashioned dwarven stubborness and brute leadership, Kindli walks out the door and down the hall to return to the others.
OOC+100 exp to Raph for comforting Kindli so well.

If you had succeeded on rolls (had you made any) then that number would be higher.

'I knew you were a softy...' I follow behind Kindli as she makes her way back to the group, keeping a warm smile on my face.

OOCNothing I could think to roll for... seemed more inherent on dialogue. That aside, am I back in the main thread?

Raph marched through the roads of the town with his head down, dragging the cart with three charred corpses behind him. He chose to enter through the southern gate because that would minimize the exposure of his quarry to the town. Unfortunately, the town was extremely busy, as always, so he was seen by many people on his way to the town.

Raph passes by Abel Pole, who nods to him solemnly and knowingly as he enters the square. He walks through the huge gates of the church and one of the minotaur priests comes up to him. The minotaur is dressed in dark robes and has a horn hanging from his neck. He also has the head of a minotaur emblazened on his chest. His face looks kind.

The minotaur holds his hand out towards the cart with the charred corpses. I see you have lost. May I ask who these poor souls are and what we can do for them? He looks like he wants to help you in your task.
OOCWelcome back Stozzy!

Drearily I stand, worn from the travel back to town carting the remains of those I failed. I hold the cart firm, yet to release the weight from my arms. "I failed them. I failed them all... the least I can do is deliver them to the road to glory by giving them a proper burial and performing the rites." A tear swells in my left eye. With no free hand to hold back the moisture, the single tear slowly streams down my cheek. Looking towards the minotaur, I muster up enough strength to beg assistance... and forgiveness... "Could I plead you into showing me to the burial grounds. I'll also need three bottles of holy water, if you could spare..." My arms quake... the weight of the cart and the war weariness take greater hold as I stand idly by. "I'm unfamiliar with your burial customs in this town, and will follow accordingly out of respect... but the Burial Rite of Pelor is a service I owe these three..."

The minotaur looks down at the charred corpses. Why, of course. We will help you as you request but... there is a complication.

He walks over to the cart and moves the corpses a little so that they are lying in a more organized fashion. He seems to be attempting to identify or recognise the bodies, but they are charred beyond recognition. He asks, May I ask what happened to these poor souls?

Before you can answer, he continues with his explanation. The thing is that our cemetary is quite a ways away. You'll need to wait the night before you go to find it. You'll also need an escourt to get there. As I'm sure you know, it's not safe outside the town wall. We know some people that can be hired and we could have go with you. We have some of our own that could help as well, maybe teach you something along the way that would help you develop your art.

He turns his back to you then glances back over his shoulder at you, I do notice that you follow some of our ways and that you seek to learn more.

You notice that this minotaur has not yet introduced himself and he's acting quite mysterious. That's not normally the way of followers of Pelor. You sense something is different about him. You've never seen a minotaur priest before. You do notice that everyone is mingling about the interior of the church just as if he is another one of the priests. You do notice that there are other minotaurs about in robes similar to his that are speaking with other patrons.

The church interior is large and has high arched ceilings. To the left, there is an altar. To the right, there is a stand which you could imagine that sermons are given from. In the middle, there are many lines of pews with scattered patrons in them.

Along both of the walls there are wooden doors into what seem to be rooms. There are people going in and out of them. You also recognise that this building is shaped like the Louvre and you are at the center. There are two arms to the left and right of you that wrap back. You see the same type of wooden doors leading down there.

"We came upon these three in the brush outside of town. A group of us have been investigating into the blight and crept up upon them thinking they were up to something. After making our presence known we were ambushed by a small band of orcs... the lot of us survived, but a mage seared the flesh of the innocents." I clench my fist tightly... "I told them they would be safe... and I watched them burn to death. I've devoted my life to healing through the grace of Pelor and defending the innocent... and I failed." After enough self pity, I muster up enough civility to speak properly to my patron. "My name, is Raphael Shelton... a servant and healing hand of Pelor. All I can tell you of these three is the girl was ill when we came upon them... I had not time to root the cause of her ailment." I look upon the minotaur curiously before speaking again. "Again, I know our customs vary, but you seem out of place when I compare you to other patrons of Pelor I've met in my travels... and not that I've had a great dealing with the minotaur peoples, I surely have not seen a priest of your stature before. Perhaps you could enlighten me as to what exactly it is that goes on here... if you wouldn't mind, of course." I cover the bodies with what material I have available... bits of cloth and brush make do as I place a gold coin over each eye. "Pelor shine brightly your path to glory. Take comfort in his grace, and take your place at his side in Elysium."

The minotaur nods, I am unlike other priests that you have seen in the past. I follow Baphomet's teachings.

He looks at you and sizes you up a little. That is unfortunate that these innocents fell at the hand of the orcs. They embrace their power so fondly and tend to enjoy flaunting it. They have no regard for collateral damage. You sense something different about the minotaur as he says this.

He shrugs, Well, we will grant you the holy water and accompany with you as you seek out the cemetary. As I said before, it is a distance aways. The rising afflicted make the citizenry a little squeamish around the dead, so we separate them from it as much as possible. He glances out towards the doors. It is too close to sunset to embark now. If you permit it, we can store these corpses for the night and then compile a group of companions to accompany you in your quest tomorrow.

As the minotaur says this, you notice a human in orange robes and firey red hair notice your interaction with the minotaur and rush over with a little haste. He gets to you and smiles, glancing at the large minotaur. It is nice to see a fellow cleric here. We will help you with whatever you need. I see you have lost. It is very easy to notice that this human is much more kind and forgiving than the minotaur. He holds out his well washed hand. I am Haar, follower of the more chaotic side of Pelor than you.

I take the hand of the human who extended theirs with a firm grip. "I am Raphael, a healing hand of Pelor." I turn my gaze back towards the minotaur. "I'm familiar with Baphomet... the demon lord of the Endless Maze, yes? Though I'm less familiar with his teachings, I do know most of his priests share his stand point on good vs evil... his followers being the latter of the two..." I turn slightly with a cautious eye towards the minotaur. "...so perhaps you could enlighten me further as to what cause a follower of a demon lord has in such a town as this."

The human smiles and places his hand lightly on the minotaur. You can tell that he does it quite hesitantly and is quite ready to pull away at any time. We in Tristrast are accepting of all ways of life and ways of thought. He nods to the minotaur, This priest, who seems to be chosing to not reveal his name, is a servant of his natural god from before his time at the cathedral. We respect this decision.

The minotaur is quite impressed that you know about Baphomet. He takes a knee and lowers his head, You are wise in the way of the world. If you have not noticed, Tristrast is one of the few... or only... places that minotaurs can live and work within society. I am here to provide them services in regards to their religion and the pieces of their past that they would like to hold onto.

He gestures towards the corpses behind you. We have our own customs which comply with the accepted laws of this town. I specialize in the arts which other priests are too shy to take care of. This is particularly useful when and if the church is overcome with afflicted. Me and my followers are hardy enough to take care of them, if worst comes to worst. The minotaur raises his head and looks at you, still on his knee, in respect for you.
OOC+50 exp for befriending the minotaur.

PS. The number is low for a reason... you might be able to get more out of this friendship than you expect.

"Please, stand, stand... I'm far from royalty." I extend my hand to the minotaur. "I'm well versed with the gods, of many types and faiths. While my Path has been set forth by Pelor's light, I find it best to learn all I can about other religious beliefs and teachings. Though you are the first minotaur I've formally met... and it is my pleasure to make your acquaintance." I eye my gaze towards Haar. "And while Pelor's path is far from linear, it is always a welcome sight to find another of the faith." Breaking attention back to the nameless minotaur. "Now then, might I ask your name? Calling you by your heritage from here on is far too disrespectful for my tongue." I smile... the first I've made since meeting up with the three in the woods while they still drew breath.

The minotaur rises and you notice that he stands noticably farther away from you than before, making him seem smaller and less threatening. He speaks slowly, I call myself Perditazu after, as you know, the souls that are lost in the Endless Maze. I am but another soul that is lost and must follow Baphomet. I hope to maintain a small and not noticable existance. The likes of Oostarix and the Knights of the Horned King are too brazen and aggressive to live peacefully amoung other races. That is why we try to keep our gathering less known compared to them lest they insist upon us taking power from the rest of the people here.

The minotaur looks towards Haar and nods. Tristrast is unique in its acceptance of our kind. We would like to keep it that way. Besides, there are many strong forces here that would crush any uprising before it takes true hold.

Perditazu shakes his head a little. But we digress. We will store your dead for the night and prepare a group to accompany you to the cemetary tomorrow, if that is to your liking.

This entire time, Haar is listening quietly and looks quite happy that you are interacting with the minotaur in a friendly way, both for your sake and Perditazu. He adds his two cents after the minotaur is done talking. I will help in the recruitment of aid. Do you have special requests?
