There is a good chance I am going to regret that Unarmed rule, but it is one I always house-in...
__________________Also, I may move this to the Team 1 forum and then let the other DMs make their own houserule thread for their teams. This was we can each DM the way we like. Of course that is only if the players are cool with that. We will try to keep things roughly the same but everyone has their own preferences and rules and I want to accommodate. |

So basically you gave everyone weapon focus and greater weapon focus unarmed strike/touch attacks.

On the bright side, they still provoke AoO's without improved unarmed strike --- though maximized shiverring touch just got 10% more awesome!

May I make a suggestion to the Unarmed Attack bonus?
__________________I suggest making it a +1 Attack, but only if you have Improved Unarmed Strike, with no negatives to damage. And a -2 to damage, if you don't have Improved Unarmed Strike. An untrained person can hit, but without proper training, including self-training, they lack to ability to maximize the potential damage caused by a hit. |

I'm happy I took Improved Unarmed Strike

I wouldnt recomend the -2 damage as it already has a smaller die and nonleathal showing you cant throw a killing blow bare handed but as for giving a bonus to hit in unarmed becouse it is part of you, would you give this bonus to all natural attacks? an orc's punch? a wolf's bite? a dragons <Long list>? most every monster? it's not just unarmed as that is a spread of possable options but if being one with your weapon gives the bonus it would be higher wouldnt it? What wolf hasn't mastered biting things? Moreso it does so more than any untrained human punches.

I just vote against house rules unless they're to remove obviously broken things (Candle of Invocation, Dust of Sneezing and Choking, Planar Shepherd with Time traits), or to improve obviously awful things (Tier 5 and 6's, maybe).

That was the point of my little rant, and thus my vote against the rule.

I like the rule and I'm not saying that just because my PC has a few monk levels. The Monk is underpowered in d&d. In real life boxing matches & MMA bouts fill arena's the world over. When is the last time you say a fencing match on T.V that wasn't part of the olympics? go ahead I'll wait...
My point is in real life few people get as excited about a combat sport involving weapons as opposed to 1 vs 1 match were two men enter the ring or cage armed with nothing more then their fists, and perphaps a horrible fashion choice that passes for trunks. |

Despite the fact that my character would benefit from this house rule, I think we have too many already, so I'm going to vote no too... Someone typically loses if a new house rule is made, even if it seems "more realistic" to some folks. I really don't want to have to keep all of these custom rules in mind either, it gets too cluttered, and it might unbalance some things. For example, this rule would benefit my character's unarmed strikes even further, when his unarmed attacks deal damage as an effectively colossal+ size creature in terms of dice with the increases in size, and feats/items that increase unarmed damage (which all stack). He will eventually be able to make his unarmed attacks as melee touch attacks too at the expense of power points. This is balanced with a lower BAB, so he hits less often than, say, a fighter.

I suppose I'll just remove it then... Doesn't bug me much from the DM's POV, you guys wanna be nerfing yourself from my generosity, go for it... Gonna recommend that ryator keeps this rule for his team, though...
__________________Alright. It's settled then. You guys will not get this, though I do hope you don't regret it...

I've got to agree with this, the less house-rules the better.
