Jack gets back into Elin's vehicle once she gives the okay to do so. While it's established that those two will be traveling together, he still feels the need for at least a thumb up for an invite. Once the two are in the car once more, he puts on his seatbelt and gives some quick directions as to how to get from the park to a proper exit out of town.
He engages in small talk at times during the travel, mostly more of the same banter that could've been overheard by nosy cafe patrons the night before. But it is no non stop chat fest, for he always pauses for a good song on the radio, or any music she says that he just has to hear. he is always polite, and answers any questions she has promptly. Occassionaly he gives further directions to Corpus Christi, always adding music venues or quality restauraunts as points of interest. And every once in a while, he points to a vehicle and says, "I spy three guys. Driverman, Guitarman. Aquaman." Last edited by zevonian; 05-13-2011 at 06:28 PM. |

Alex raised an eyebrow, just one. "Your threat requires two theories, one: that she will be as evasive or forgetful as Jerry, and two: that you can throw me into the street. Laboring under the assumption that either of these is true is not difficult, but to believe both to be true would count you quite mad. Take this as no threat, I don't harm those who do not need it, nor do I badger those who openly share necessary information. Jerry almost didn't share these tidbits with us, and after I likely saved his life and livelihood. I should be appreciative of his stone-walling tactics?" Tone shifted, but he never seemed angry or even emotionally invested in the words. His sarcasm at the end was to point out that while he had been the aggressor, he felt it necessary. "You may speak to her if you wish, but trust when I say there are many people not so open about what they are as I am. As it stands however, as an invalid I should likely appear to be the least threatening, rather than a former police officer, n'est-ce pas?"
The car was likely having little enough trouble. He hadn't been hurling power, but anything with a very high tech level probably wasn't going to do well. If there was a GPS, it was probably not doing so well, and cell phones were iffy. At least the radio would probably continue working, imagine a three hour ride in silence with a riddling wizard, an ex-cop, and a musician. That sounds rather like one of the circles of hell. |

"Stonewalling? Is that what you call it when someone hasn't even had a chance to talk?" Nikol responds scornfully. "Don't try to excuse your uncalled-for behavior; we all know that Jerry did absolutely nothing to deserve the attitude you gave him, which is why I have concerns about letting you anywhere near this woman. And yeah, I could take you any day of the week. Don't delude yourself otherwise, as practiced as you may be at it." Nik pushes open the door and steps out. Whatever Breck decides to do, he's not going to stay in the car with the demented freak a moment longer. "I'm not going to let you bully anyone else, so don't even think about it."

"Whoa whoa whoa," Breck said, inserting himself between the two potential combatants before anything untoward happened. We're supposed to be working together here remember? He said in his most soothing and professional manner.
In truth he thought that Nick had a point, and Alex's manner might be a little offputting to the woman, but Alex also had a point. He wasn't exactly polite to Jerry, but then again Jerry didn't really deserve it, since he was so reserved and even secretive about the real reason behind the attack. He may not have actually known the reason why but he sure wasn't very helpful either. "I think it might be a good idea if Alex approached the woman", Breck said. "He's the least intimidating physically", Breck paused, looked Alex then added, "no offense", then continued, "and that might work in our favor". He let the suggestion hanging near, hoping that it cleared up the problem and didn't cause even more, which he suspected it just might. |

The cars find themselves parked in front of Galveston's beach, a small building with a sign proclaiming it to be "Red's Surf'n Ski" shop not far in front of them with a half-painted 71 camaro parked next to a rusted chevy truck that looks like it was built out of rust and prayers parked beside the shop. There are a few other businesses in the area closed down for the winter but this one appears to be open, if not particularly crowded.
__________________You've checked the street twice and other than a few closed shops, a small hotel, a fast food place, and a gas station/mini-mart combo the street has nothing. No places of residence, apartment buildings, or anything else that would be a home address. The shop appears to be the right street address though so perhaps the woman you are looking for owns it, works there, or just left a decade ago and never changed her address. "You've got to be kidding me!" Nik snaps, looking at Breck as if he'd suggested adorning themselves in feces to make a good impression. It's apparent that the former police officer has lost a good deal of the younger man's respect. "You know what'll happen if you send him in? He'll open his mouth, and she'll call the real cops on all of us." Nik makes a fist, but catches himself before punching the door, and drops his hand. "You go, Jack goes, that chick goes, hell, I'll even go. But you'd have to be crazy to send him. Ted Bundy walked with a cane, too, on occasion."

"Red's Surf and Ski...because the market for skiing equipment alone proved to be not so lucrative...right around the time of Texas gaining statehood." The first words out of Jack's mouth upon exiting the car may not be historically accurate, but they are uttered nonetheless. He waves to the passengers of the other car as he pulls a just spotted piece of lint off his pants. "This place better have a bathroom."
He checks back on the status of Elin, gauging her happy-to-be-here-factor on a scale of blargh to ossum possum. He thinks he's got her figured out and turns to the trio that seem to be doing as much scanning and mulling as he is. "So, what's the name of this lady, and what am I suppose to be asking her about? Jerry and their I love the 80s click?" He seems to be amusing himself, and looks directly at Breck. "I mean, I'm supposed to be the Face of this A-Team, right Hannibal?" The questions linger in the air, letting everyone decide for theselves who's B.A. or Murdock. |

I'm sorry you feel that way Nik, but sometimes if you give people a chance they can surprise you, Breck said casually to the agitated young man, then turn to face Jack, contemplating his suggestion, and wondering why is he hadn't thought of him to begin with.
Yeah that's pretty much sums it up, Breck responded to Jack, not really getting the A-Team reference. We just need to know what happened back then with Jerry, and to find out about the magical business that he mentioned. Which is why I thought Alex would be a good choice, since he seems to know the most about that sort of business, Breck shrugged, not too sure why everyone else hadn't thought of that, then added, we don't even know if she still lives around here, so we might as well just check it out together first. There may be a surprise in store for us if she is involved and they want her for the same reason they wanted Jerry. |

"Oh, I'm just gonna walk in and ask around till I find what's her name and then say Jerry recommended this place. I'm good with first impressions." Jack seems wholly uninterested in letting anyone but him take lead on this, and decides to back up his self-appointed first guy in decision as he clicks through some photos on his cell phone. "What if she doesn't know any hocus pocus, but just knows guys that we need to talk to next? Just let a guy that can talk about surfer gear grease the wheels first before you people go all Severus Snape on whomever's in there."
And without further debate, Jack clicks his phone shut, pockets it, and walks towards Ray's. |

Alex shook his head at all the childishness going around. He might actually be the youngest in attendance, but he was more grown up than many of them by necessity. Severus Snape? As if I'd be such a whiner, if anything I'm more of a... He hadn't actually given it any thought before now. Given that he was in fact the closest equivalent to a wizard in actual life, which of the Potter series would he be? There weren't any of them who were physically disabled as such, he was rubbish at potions, and in fact was only a good hand at battle and wards... He shuddered to think that perhaps were he in such a situation, he'd be extra number 17 who is briefly encountered at the Ministry, in an elevator scene in one of the movies. "I resent the implication that I'm a weepy lovelorn double or triple agent. Also, the next best thing to the Aurors are hunting me down right now, to speak in your paradigm, in order to likely recruit or behead me. I do however love the comparison to Alan Rickman, who is a fine actor and a charming gentleman."
He pondered the A-Team comparison now, mind working backwards as it had time to do so. Being the metaphysical muscle of the group, was he to be B.A. Baracus, or due to his perceived loose grip on sanity was he Murdock? The comparison to Sharlto Copley or Dwight Schultz, probably the latter as we were presumably speaking 80's A-Team, was again quite the compliment. He should like to not be considered solely a driver and heavy weapon specialist, and liked even less the comparison to a large black cliche. "I do wonder if there's anything even remotely female he won't attempt to talk the pants or skirt off of. Also, while I acquiesce to the fact you may be the elder and wizened ex-cop, would I not seem to fill either both or neither of the remaining roles? I am entirely within my sanity, but outside of yours, so I am clearly either Murdock or not, and I am the strongest here while physically weak, so I am obviously both B.A. and not. If anything, to again draw us from Alan Rickman's history, this is Galaxy Quest, and he is the captain, Tim Allen, you are technical sergeant Chen, Tony Shalhoub, and I would be Alan Rickman's alien character, whose name escapes me. The guitarist can be Guy Fleegman, the extra who died in an episode, but came back for a convention and got sucked into the adventure. Which fits, since I still have no clue why he's here given his lack of usefulness." As he was to have no part in the plan himself, Alex was apparently content to belittle Nik. The man had just compared him to Ted Bundy. It was an even greater injustice than being compared to Al Bundy! Though he could see a correlation to Bud Bundy... again with the comparisons to characters, what was this a movie? Alex twirled his cane idly in his hand as they waited, looking at the shop, and then at the cars. "That... is the sort of car someone like me would drive. Just to tell you. We may wish to be watching it should she choose to, as they say, 'rabbit'. I don't know if you could keep up with it." |

"Yes, good idea." Nik agrees, when Jack volunteers for the role of spokesperson. Anyone would be better than that bile-mouthed lunatic. As Alex begins blathering, Nik just ignores it as the creep's not actually doing any harm right now, but when he hears what seems to be a reference to himself, he rolls his eyes. "None of the above." He corrects in a bored tone, pulling out another cigarette and lighting it up. As the cigarette starts to burn he flicks some ashes in Alex's direction. "Ramble all you want, but leave me out of your fantasies."

As the group sits arguing and discussing the A-Team a kid in jeans that look like they went through a shredder and a light, burnt orange sweatshirt that reads Texas in white letters on it walks out from the store and over to the camaro. He leans against it, lighting a cigarette as he nods his head to a tune only he can hear. You're too far away to be sure but unless he's hearing things it's likely he has ear buds in. He finishes up his cigarette, puts it out on the ground with his foot and slowly walks back inside the store, yawning and stretching along the way.

Jack walks on in the shop while the kid lights up. He thinks he hears Alex going on about Alan Rickman, but doesn't break stride, a testament to a lack of caring. Once inside, he gives the place a good look-see for all of three seconds before uttering, "Howdy. I hear you all got Volcon and Killer Dana gear for the extra tall. Need something for a friend." He then looked at one of the racks while waiting for someone to actually respond, not that he made eye contact with anyone while talking beforehand.

As Jack walks into the, quite empty, store, the kid outside mutters a curse and puts out his cigarette, jogging to get inside the store right as Jack is looking around, Hey, the kid grunts, a bit annoyed at the interruption of his cigarette break, Can I help you? His words are saying one thing, while his tone is clearly saying, "Buy something or get out, I couldn't care less."
