In anger Tnit dismissed the spirit he had called forth. Before departing, however, the spirit lashed out at the man it was next to. The mood of the kreen must have been felt by the spirit as it weakened the human severely. “Need to refocus,” the psion said softly. |

”It’s rude to ignore people Mr. Dwarf” Poppet sais as she To M7advances on the nasty setting-people-on-fire-dwarf-who-doesn’t-want-to-answer-my-question, and tries to get his attention by jabbing him with her fairy wand. But the stab could not be more poorly aimed and she all but drops her wand.
Good girl Poppet. Try keep him occupied. Horris communicates while watching from a distance. He stands his ground with mace and totem in hand trying to keep tabs on Poppet and everyone else. None of ours dead yet! Good. Zi Char is looking ragged though. And that guy's on fire!!! |

The chubby halfling is angered both left and right by the burning attacker who has a go at Lakta-ta, and the other aggressive fellow dancing with Zi-Cha. "Give 'em the treatment, Lakta-ta! They've asked for it!"
__________________A thankful wink at Horris is followed by a swing of Biko's dejada arm, and another sharpened knucklebone flies from behind the halfling's shield, in the direction of Zi-Cha's distracted foe. The halfling steps a few paces to the left, clearly planning to aid the slimmest of the kreens. |

As the battle unfolded itself, its sounds snapped Zy'leen out of the concentration her gift required. She had not been the only one to have noticed the dirty ambushing tactics their oponents were using and that helped her feel more confident on her companion's skills.
__________________e started glancing around the battlefield, looking out to choose her next battle-target -or prey, as the Kreen liked to call it-, when she saw Zi-Cha wounded and enraged. Then a zapping sound caught her hearing, as another one of the raiders got hit by Lakta-ta's lighting powers... She had to choose, and fast. "Zi-Cha can hold his ground... but Lakta...." The tiefling reminded how much the shy kreen avoided confrontation whenever possible, choosing to get cover and throw his chatkchas before engaging in close combat. "He knows his weaknesses... this looks bad... if he were pushed over to loose control again..." Zy'leen gulped away her worry and immediately took action. One glance upon talker, and both of them darted off to slay the one enemy that had hurt Lakta-ta. "You won't get him. Not on MY watch!" Swiftly, the Tiefling and her Tembo caught up with the man, hitting him before he could react properly. She could feel her Dragonpaw's Obsidian blade sinking into he target. The ripping sound of fabrics being torn appart, the creaking of bones and the Tembo's fierce growl preceeded the raider's howl of pain. "That will teach you to mess with my comrades, you SCUM of the sand!" Silently, Stalker and her surrounded him. She hoped to intimidate the others, or to at least draw their attention away from Lakta-ta, as the last thing she saw was the shy kreen getting away from his attacker. "Are you ok, Lakta?" she asked. Zi-Cha's words still echoed in her heart. "After all, he is one of us, and as long as he remains so, I'll do whatever I can to help and protect him." Last edited by Felicia; 06-25-2011 at 03:46 AM. |

Zi-Cha'Kak destroys the human's spear that just stabbed him, freeing himself of the grasp the human had on him while empowering his defenses with psionic energy. Zi-Cha'Kak's panther attack, followed by Laktata's lightning, Tnit's exploding spirit of athas and Biko's knuckle bone all ravaged the human to no end, dropping him and his broken stick to the ground dead.
Laktata's lightning blast also hit the fiery human too with the brunt of the blast. The human's attention was solely on the kreen when Zy'leen and her companion Stalker came up behind him and proceeded to rake, stab, claw and puncture the man with the business ends of their deadly weapons, (Stalkers being his claws), until he too, fell dead. The duo both (5 dmg Stalker only) felt the flames from the man, but Zyleen was used to the heat. On behalf of Horris, Poppot floated towards the dwarf, missing it with her 'stabbity-stab' maneuver but the dwarf stepped away yet again, unleashing a blast of the sun towards Laktata, (5 dmg) scorching the kreen. The halfling moved back on the rocks nearby and seemed to 'concentrate' towards Poppit but the spirit companion didn't seem to notice. The raiders had already lost more than half their numbers but that didn't seem to phase them. Last edited by Davion; 06-29-2011 at 08:52 AM. |

Lakta-ta looks on in dismay as the power he unleashes burns through two of the enemies and helps them towards their death. Somehow, the fact that it was the uncontrollable power within him, as opposed to the simple physical tools of his kind, made the act that much more sinister.
__________________In his internal anguish, the Chatkcha he held slipped through his claws and landed softly in the sand at his feet. But the conflict and disgust within him was short-lived - Biko's words spurred him into action. "No!", he answered, the very thought sending shakes of fear through his limbs. "I cannot control it - I do not want to unleash it ever, lest it feed upon your life force, too!" Instead, he moved northwards, seeking cover behind the rocks, and drew another two of the bladed weapons. Reaching the rock, he threw one at the dwarf - it was not a powerful attack, not as effective as the lightning blast, but it was controlled, and it was natural. It was only a threat to his enemy, and would not destroy his friends. That was of most importance to Lakta-ta. |

Zi-Cha'Kak's head whirls around at the sound of another burst from the dwarf cowardly attacking his clutch brother. With +2 from Panther Range; Speed=9 for nowsurprising speed he fairly bounds across the sands and the pond, occasionally dropping to run on all fours like a tembo might. Easily clearing the rough rocks in front of the dwarf, Zi-Cha lands and unleashes a flurry of Whirling Frenzy followed by Thri-Kreen "Flail"arms and lotulis. The mantis-man could not be contained. He refused to back down. He swung the lotulis around in a mad fashion, slashing in an "X" across the dwarf trying to hit with both ends of the lotulis. Zi-Cha'Kak then lashed out with his claws against the dwarf. "Attack me," he thought, "leave Lakta alone!" |

When two of the ambushers drop to the sand, mauled, electrocuted, clawed and knuckled, Larry Biko chuckles, though the sweat on his upper lip reminds him of the annoying bits of exercise that accompanied such a battle. The struggle for water, how the halfling hated having to fight for the life-giving liquid. He was more of a city guy. Then again, he loved the road. In his ambition to become a caravan leader, he could combine the best of both, and let others do the fighting. That day was far off, however.
__________________"Yes, you can, Lakta-ta!!" Biko shouts encouragingly at the kreen, whose antennae were even slimmer than the others'. "Only one thing to do: LEARN!" Inspired by these words, Lakta-ta Cha'rel finds himself compelled to listen. His saliva somehow becomes very sour, and he cannot subdue the urge to spit it out... at the dwarf! "Clutch Leader, mind your wounds!" the halfling merchant calls out next, to Zi-Cha'Kak, who courageously had taken the battle to the side of the fire-slinging dwarf. Whether by psionics or by sheer charisma transferred through Biko's voice to the kreen's wounds' edges, Zi-Cha did clearly feel the rush of blood to them. Wound-knitting blood. |

"You'd better leave the fire lover to the ones used to the flame's caress" that was Zy'leen's reply to the others, specially to Zi-Cha'Kak, who seemed to be seriously injured, though she knew deep inside there was a chance his enraged state would not let him stand back from the battle to recover from his wounds.
__________________Even so, her people had long ago made a deal with the lords of hell, those who lived among the infernal flames, and her people's resistance to it was yet another unmistakable sign of their dark dealings in the past, inherited by a debt of blood. The fire that Dwarf spewed out was nothing compared with the painful, searing flames that spun and burned around her and Stalker every time they used any of their infernal gifts, so they bravely and swiftly darted off in the direction of their chosen enemy, enclosing their approach on both sides of him, unwilling to let him leave alive. "Now that puny bastard will feel what it is to have a stronger foe striking at his weak flesh." Zy'leen smiled maliciously, almost savoring her enemie's blood in her tongue, while a hungry, frightening bit of saliva escaped her mouth through her bared teeth, slightly fang-like, her eyes turning a hellish shade of red... While the rest of the group focused on the dwarf, Tnit saw an opportunity to try and enforce his will on the halfling. Moving from behind the others and into range, the kreen began concentrating on his enemy. Once again he could feel the other's mind resisting his own, but that just made the psion try harder. Still he found it difficult to penetrate the other one's defenses.

Somehow, the halfling's words brought a new rage to the powers swirling within him, and Lakta-ta found it increasingly hard to maintain his focus. With two extra hands grabbing his staff, he steadied his body, closed his eyes, and focused his mind at keeping the sparking power at bay.
__________________But something else stirred within him - another forgotten power. Instead of struggling out of his arms, it squirmed up his throat, threatening to choke him. He knew the energy behind it had been summoned by Biko, but he also knew that he could not survive keeping it down - trying to call out his frustration to his short friend. All that came out was a burning wad of phlegm. It did not travel as fast or as accurately as the lightning, and gave Biko's target a lot of time to react, but what it lacked on delivery it made up for in potency, as the hissing, acidic orb of acid threatened to eat through whatever it touched. |

The dwarven and halfling bandits now received the full attention of the group and Poppet soon had friendly company alongside her. Horris bid poppet to protect his friends and help channel healing power into them. Poppet sidled up to the dwarf and smacked him with her wand. Scuffing through the sand as fast as his stumpy legs could propel him (run to N13) Horris moved closer to the action. Breathing heavily, Horris focussed on the tall Kreen and offered him the power to heal.

Laktata advances, spinning a well aimed dagger into the dwarf causing him to grunt in pain just as the maddened Zi-Chakak comes sprinting over the shallow water/mud to face him. Zi-ChaKak's lotilus flailed wildling, (miss, 3 dmg) injuring himself in the process but the kreens spare arms clawed the dwarf regardless.
Biko moves up and spots an opportunity for Laktata to attack again but this time the kreen chose to summon some acidic spit to do the job but the out of practice spitter aimed poorly and the was flew high. Zi-Chakak benefited from Biko's inspiring words as well. Horris advances to help heal Zi-Chakak as well as he directs Poppit to float over by the opposing dwarf and smack him with her wand a bit. Zyleen marks the dwarf as she and Stalker advance in to surround their prey. The crazy eyed tiefling's presence, compounded by the rush of opponents around the dwarf cause him to momentarily flee from the pack around him, suffering severe hits as he runs, especially from Zi-Chakak (crit) who landed a solid blow that nearly knocked the dwarf to the ground. Tnit's mind thrust, as he advances, was deflected by the halfling wilders strong will. The halfling returned the mental nudge with a mind thrust of his own but Tnit was unaffected, a strong will of his own at play as the two psionicists did mental battle. The dwarf, having sufficiently ran away, turned and unleashed another blast of the sun's power back at the mob chasing him but managed only to evaporate some of the water of the oasis nearby. Zi'Cha'Kak marvels as his body knits itself at the hands on his clutchmatches. As the fiery dwarf dashes away, Zi-Cha'Kak lands a solid blow but watches in frustration as the dwarf stands out of range of Zi's blades and attempts to blast his clutch with another gout of fire. His focus steady, the thri-kreen charges Charge to R3after the dwarf, his lotulis aimed squarely for the center of the dwarf and plunges it deep.

"Now" breathed Lakta-ta heavily, his voice raw and crackling, still healing after the acid had burned it moments ago, "is not the time, Biko!" Quickly, he moved across the sand and around the rock. A final accusing glance back at his friend was followed by another warning. "The Chatkcha I can control - that within me I do not know yet!"
__________________Taking up a position in the bushes, where he hoped to gain a little cover from unwanted attacks, he watched the fire-tossing dwarf's movements, learning his steps, his pauses, and watching Cha'Kak charge in to distract him. There was the distraction!, he thought, and his claw snapped forward, the finely crafted piece of bone propelled towards his foe, the carvings aiding in both the propulsion and speed of the Chatkcha, and for a moment, Lakta-ta felt like his martial training had been of some value. The bone blade spun true, and he found it far easier to use than wrestling with the destructive power within. Sure, it was less effective upon connecting with the dwarf's skin, but it was far easier to control, and Lakta-ta didn't feel drained or weary after throwing the dagger. Quickly, he crouched down in the bushes, and felt for the dagger he had thrown a few seconds ago. Finding it, he watched the halfling atop the rock, wary of what the pair were planning next. |
