World Information

The World Today:

Lower Earth is comprised of nine separate nations. Of these, two are still considered complete wildlands and remain unexplored. The only information on these wildlands are from vague histories from the 2nd age. All major terrain types are represented throughout Lower Earth such as mountains, foothills, plains, forests, coasts, tundra, and deserts. Humans are the primary race in Lower Earth and comprise approximately 75% of its intelligent life. However, large communities of dwarves, elves, orcs and goblins may be found in some areas.

Due to the land’s vastness, travel is primarily done either by horse or sail. Foot travel is possible throughout some nations thanks to improved roads, but the presence of outlaws and foul beasts make this option less than desirable. Almost all nations have access to a safe harbor for ships, but some in the northern most territory are subject to closures due to heavy ice during the winter months. While some nations such as Krenta are famous for their roads, others, such as Telania, are famous for their waterways.

The balance of power between the nations of Lower Earth remains relatively unsolved. Many believe that Corrinia holds most power due to its geographic location and claim on one of the few paths between the Spine of the World. Others argue that Frenoria holds most power due to its vast natural resources and strong army. Regardless, war has carved out the boundaries among all nations in Lower Earth. Currently, there is one declared war between Frenoria and Telania. However, rumor suggests that trouble brews in the island nation of Bydra and many towns and cities are subject to ransacking and attacks by savage tribes.

Overall, much of Lower Earth remains unexplored or forgotten from past ages. The presence of many large cities, however, ensures that each nation’s inhabitants will continue to survive and even thrive in the harsh conditions of Lower Earth. Wars will rage, rulers will come and go, and the age will continue on.

More to come soon
