The Olmec- People of the Coatzacoalcos
To the east of you lies the Mayans, our oldest allies and friends. We have helped each other along the path to greatness since our nations were born. They will most likely accept any deals of trade we offer, and together we can grow strong. To the south lies scattered tribes of maize growers. Although they lack organization they are too dispersed to make anything approaching military action worth it. To the west are yet more, maize growers. Rumors come from far to the west that some peoples have learned to use a metal they call bronze, which functions much like obsidian but more malleable and less prone to chipping. To the North lies a great ocean that we can not cross. Your people have faced challenges before, and will continue to face them. As long as we stay true to the gods and face our foes with courage we shall prevail. |

Spring 599 BC
Your chieftains gather in the audience chamber of your palace. They await your orders, the orders that will start a new age in the history of the Olmec. You have much to do, the powerful Maya, thankfully your allies, are suffering from raiders to the south, if left unchecked they may move to you next. You also have the problem of low population compared to your neighbor, but this can also be helped with simple time and effort. No matter what plan you enact the whole of this land is open to you, and the seemingly infinite land to the north waits for your people.

"Po Ngbe - A ruler from between 900 and 600 BC" - This will make a fine name, and is more "Olmec" than anything I could come up with on my own.
__________________From Tres Zapotes, I would like to recruit a group of skirmishers. I would also like to create a coastal clearing here. In both Laguna De Los Cerros and La Venta I would like to work on procuring a wild harvest and hiring a diplomat. However, I am curious. Can I currently talk to Maya in the diplomacy thread? Or are they being NPC'dd? And I am fine with Spanish. It is easier for me to read. |

The Maya are being run by Ulfgar, so talk to them in the Diplomacy thread.

Summer 599 BC
Your chiefs move to enact your will, and the construction of the coastal clearing and adoption of Wild Harvest begins. You diplomats are prepared and begin training. In the meantime an herbalist joins your inner circle.

I would like to train heavy skirmishers in tres zapotes, and send the first skirmishers and first spears toward the Mayan capital.

Autumn 599 BC
Your army heads off for Mayan lands and your new skirmishers are trained in Tres Zapotes. The town also finishes its coastal clearing affording a safe place for boats to beach. All is well in the kingdom of the Olmec.

Maybe I misunderstand the way that income works, but it seems my money level isn't changing, despite me spending significantly less than 5000.
__________________Also, my heavy skirmishers are not listed under my garrison. But, more to the point, I would like to produce a group of archers and a doctor in tres zapotes. |

Winter 599 BC
Winter arrives and construction begins on a place for the local medicine man to practice. Your archers finish training as well.

I would like to train skirmishers in tres zapotes.
__________________If the diplomats are ready, I would like to send one of them to the west to look for these tribes that are using such strange materials. If the pitiful peoples of the west have these tools, why should the Olmec's continue to chip and break our spears? My diplomat has simple orders, offer a small coffer of 200 to dazzle them with the generosity of our people, spending his time while there making note of these treasures. Perhaps the rumors are false, and these men are nothing but farmers carrying spears of lesser stones... But great Po Ngbe must know. |

Spring 598 BC
The new years brings the promise of new growth. This is reflected most clearly in the implementation of the wild harvest techniques in most of your towns. Your army continues to grow as well, with the addition of a new unit of skirmishers. Your emissaries head off to the west in search of these mysterious craftsmen.

Tres Zapotes should recruit another group of light skirmishers.
__________________Laguna de Los Cerros should build a call of the tribe. If these raiders to the south become more aggressive, more than Tres Zapotes should be defended. The heavy skirmishers should then be sent off to see that the city is defended, at least until this endeavor produces results. La Venta needs a doctor. The 2nd Bowmen should be sent with a troop of light skirmishers to serve as a garrison. With our newly enlarged armies, we should better protect our people. |

Summer 598 BC
The new recruitment center begins construction alongside the doctor. Your treasury fills to overflowing, as do your nation's granaries. The people are happy and proud to call themselves Olmec. It appears as though the raiders to the south have slacked off in their banditry. Whether this is in preparation for a larger attack remains to be seen.

I would like to train spearmen in tres zapotes, and diplomats in my other cities. All else is going smoothly.
