Is the battle map accurate for round 2 or did I misread the movements of the kobolds. According to the current map, there is no kobold in I-11, and I tried to move into I-11 for my next movement, but the text says otherwise. I'm confused...
Disregard, there were two movements. Sorry. Last edited by Cavuste; 09-19-2011 at 02:05 PM. Reason: oops |

Hey, so I read NCSamurai's rp post and that got me thinking: I'm tired of looking up elvish words in elvish dictionaries. Can we have a color coded language system? Like NC did for Xin, Purple could be Draconic, Green could be Elvish, Yellow/Orange/Gold could be Dwarven, black is common (obviously) etc, etc, etc. For example, Captain Damakos speaks elven and dwarvish, in addition to common, so in conversing in these languages we can keep the bold text to indicate speech, but color it as well to indicate language.
Just my 2gp! |

We're already using a slightly more...secretive...system. Secret tags.

Gramorn will be telling you, in character, what he heard when, you know, there aren't evil midget-lizard-people trying to kill us. When I used my challenge? Same thing. Secret text to those that understood. |

Yeah, honestly I should have secreted it. That's a flub on my part, I was using the system from another game I'm playing, sorry.

I can read and make quick posts from my phone throughout the day, but in general the main posts (ie those with rolls or more than a few lines of text) will be limited to early morning, early evening, or late evening. I'll do my best to post at least once a day at a minimum!

Great! I didn't even think of secret text as a way to do language specific text. Great stuff!

Both colored bold text and secret tags are "standard" ways to do non-common language speech on these forums.
I like colored text better as it lets me follow the story better though. As for taking prisoners I believe one can take a free action out of their turn to talk. |

From the Player's Handbook
Free Action: Free actions take almost no time or effort. You can take as many free actions as you want during your or another combatant’s turn. The DM can restrict the number of free actions in a turn. Examples: speaking a few sentences, dropping a held item, letting go of a grabbed enemy. Lol. I didn't know it would copy the shape of the text from the PDF. Last edited by NCSamurai; 09-20-2011 at 01:36 AM. |

Yeah, I'd rather we used secret text if that's alright with everyone? There'll be several occasions where language will crop up and I'd like to keep it as realistic as possible and have only those who are able to speak it understand it and then have them translate if they want to. It's a bit of a faff looking up languages or even typing in gibberish so in fuiture I think I'll just describe what a language sounds like and then translate through secret text. There won't be any major parts of the story missed out if you dont understand the language, and their certainly wont be any bits long enough that your friends won't be able to explain.

Sounds good! There are advantages to text in PbP apparently. In my old tabletop games my DM would just say "he says 'hi' in Draconic, but only you two can understand him" and we just have to RP like we don't understand it. I suppose he could have written the text on an index card and just showed the two who understand the language, but it would have taken up time, and in most cases not furthered the plot. PbP allows for a little more RP in this case, which is cool!

And now round 2 is done.
I like tactical maps. Yay for putting another one up!Poor KM4. All alone against 6 guys waaaaaaay bigger than he is. RUN LIKE THE WIND LIL' KOBOLD! (Actually, don't, I want xp for killing you.) Anyway, I read Divine Challenge's description a little closer, and it says that a mark on a target only ends "until I use this power on another target, or I fail to engage the target". I didn't fail to engage. And I haven't used it on another. So that KS2 that ran for mommy should theoretically remain marked for all eternity until I challenge something else. Of course, theories have this nagging tendency to be wrong here and there. Also, that mark is STILL going to do 6 damage to his 5 HP if he attacks something that isn't me. Poor guy is pretty much dead almost no matter what. |

Ha! I just picture him sitting down to eat dinner with his kobold family when young kobold talks back to his momma. Dad goes to smack him and just vaporizes:-p
You sir, are responsible for a single-mom kobold and an emotionally scarred kobold youth. I hope you can love with yourself! |
