Tartan looks to the group. "These goblins are not to be taken lightly. We did vanquish some in the sewers, but not with out risk. I propose this.. Let's not just walk straight into the ruins. Let's circle around and make sure any outlying groups are removed. If we went straight in and then make a ruckus, we would then be surrounded. I volunteer to scout ahead... I'm fairly stealthy."
__________________He pauses a moment and thinks. "An option would be to send someone else as a decoy ahead of the group.. I'll be watching them from fifty paces back. The rest of the group fifty to a hundred paces behind me." |

Kalain nods at Tartan "That could work, I'm rather useless when it comes to sneaking about and would probably make a fine decoy should you need one..." he says with a slight smile "I wont pretend I am any good at planning these things, I just do what I'm told, usually.

Gearing up, the party heads out into the all-but deserted streets around the temple, heading north, towards the ruins. Once again, you were all dressed in your Children of Westcrown uniforms, fully prepared to show off your heroics to anyone who might see. The ruins were, as many of you had guessed, not a terribly nice place. The buildings hadn't been touched since the death of Aroden, many of them abandoned just weeks after the catastrophe. Some buildings along the main road had even entirely collapsed, and you know you can see the occasional figures watching your from the alleys, but despite Kalain acting as bait, nothing jumps out at you for the moment. Maybe they had heard of you - or maybe it was just too open out on the street. Either way, it leads you safely to northern edge of the city, where Whitechin the goblin king supposedly lorded over the other goblins. But, there was a lot of space here, where exactly might he be? |

Devlan scrunches up his face. "I guess any plan is better than no plan. But I have to admin that I'm not too keen on the 'send out the dummy' kind of plan. No offense, Kalain. I mean, aren't we basically sending out a noisy announcer to give any goblins or other creepy crawlies down here advance notice of our approach? And if they somehow miss the rest of us following up and attack Kalain, it may not be pretty."

More than once I've had to go unseen in the streets, to street thugs or for various reasons when enforcing the peace with my master. I've also got reasonably keen senses, at times. Perhaps a couple of quiet scouts might work better than the herald approach?" "Or wait -- was that your first idea? Ok. I like your first idea better then. Also, interrogating one of the creatures early on might be worthwhile, so maybe we try to keep one or two of them alive." +6 stealth and +7 perception, take 10 for stealth 16 and perception 17ooc |

Tartan and Devlan slink into the alleys, seeking out any sort of goblins. Their practice in staying unseen and unheard seems to pay off, as eventually, the pair comes across a pair of goblins standing over a fresh corpse. They're rifling through his pockets, and don't seem to notice you as they occasionally wipe fresh blood off their hands, as they irregularly poke one of the corpse's fresh wounds.

An itch at the back of Devlan's mind develops into a full blown thought. Damnit, we failed to agree on any signals or contingency plans. He looks at Tartan and raises an eyebrow, trying to indicate uncertainty, then nods his head back toward the group and makes a walking motion with his fingers in that direction for good measure.

Tartan raises his mace and is about to step toward the goblins. He then see's the look from Devlan and nods as he lowers his weapon. As quietly as he can he follows his companion back to the group.

Devlan slinks back towards the others.
__________________In a whisper, he says, "Sorry, Tartan! I wasn't sure about our plan. Two goblins ahead, folks, up to no good. Seem unaware of us. I'm thinking maybe we lure them towards us into an ambush with the hope of an easy mark. Tartan and I go ahead and wait until they come by to investigate. Once they get to you, you attack, and we close in behind them to cut off their escape, so that they can't run and warn others. Really, we could have figured this out ahead of time and not needed to discuss it. I feel kind of dumb about that. Or does someone have a different idea?" |

"Sounds as good any plan, I guess." Kalain whispers, scratching his beard "Want us to do the decoy thing again or how are you proposing we do this?"

Fortunately, as the group stands at the mouth of the alley, nothing comes up and jumps out at you. Still, in this part of the city it'd be best to get moving quickly.

"Tartan and I will sneak up to get their backs and cut off their escape. One of you lie down and groan or something -- act wounded and like an easy target. Who is the best actor? Locke, perhaps?"
__________________"The other two hide around the corner. When they approach, we spring the trap. We should try to get them alive. Maybe we can get some useful information out of them." If no one is opposed, the monk nods to Tartan and slinks back into the shadows to position himself for the ambush. |

Tartan and Devlan circle back around to the pair of goblins, who had finished picking through the body's things, and were now taking turns kicking the corpse. You knew there was a reason you hated goblins. They probably thought it was fun.

Tartan waits for Locke "to show up" so he and Devlan can sneak behind the pair and attack.
