"It is better to enter a building invited, though rude to rob a host." He frowned at that and rubbed his beard in thought as he spoke on. "It would be good to enter, to look about and learn more of this place. I can think of no better manner to do so than to be asked in." Grinning just a little the master thief leaned back now speaking as if he had solved all problems. "By my grace, I can enter as a dancer, juggler, or any other form of entertainer. Lady Nessa, your voice alone would be enough but your other talents would make there little chance of us being turned aside. It would be a fair and wise course of action for us to enter invited, preform and speak to guest, to case the home and then leave. Having stolen nothing and harmed no one, we would have been model guests. To return later and commit what acts we will is of no barring on what actions of grace had happened before." |

The honour of a thief. Nessa's prior brief experience with Hel-Esh had left her with a fondness for the man. She was glad to see his charm and good bearing hadn't diminished in the slightest. "You have spoken the truth of the matter, Hel-Esh."
If only all professionals were so...professional. She grinned to the halfing, "Sir, I believe we have ourselves a caper." |

The barman chuckled to himself and shook his head. "Seems like you'll have no problems. Anything else you need from me? If not, I'm likely to be missed if I don't return soon."

"We have all we need."
Ahk-Hel-Esh said with a smile. "If you are needed else where, do not let us keep you." He looked to Nessa then, and made sure he spoke from them both. With a nod from her, he turned back and added a firm nod and 'thank you' to his statement. Once the barman had left them, the halfling stood for his seat and stretched his arms, smile undiminished. "With grace and charm like your own, it maybe a simpler task to find a lone man invited, and become his escort than to enter as a singer, or performer." From unseen pockets the small man had pulled forth a half dozen small bottles, likely holding magical potions. He did not pause, as soon as they were in his hands they were tossed in to the air, a juggling show of bright coloured glass and sloshing magic liquids. "For my way in may not be as simple." A girlish giggle bubbled from Nessa for a moment before she remembered herself. "Ah, quite perfect. For my part, I intend to discover more about the ball and it's guests before our big day."
Nessa finished her wine, and then stood, "Please Hel-Esh, as you prepare your plans let me know if there is anything I can do to aid you." She smiled to the bartender, "You have been of great help, but one last question. This ball...when is it?" |

The man stood and collected the wine and cups as he readied himself to get back to work. Nessa's question made him blink. "Right right, of course. My apologies. In two days. I can't be sure of the time, other than it's in the evening, but two nights from now." After waiting to see that they had no more questions he took his leave of them, letting them take their time in moving along.
__________________After leaving the tavern, Nessa began her search for more information. Despite the bartender's insistence that everyone knew the gnome, surprisingly few people actually knew anything about the fete that would be taking place. Her investigation brought her only two tidbits of relevant information. The party was starting at around 7pm in the evening two nights from now, and it was invitation only. |

Ahk-Hel-Esh smiled at the small joke but said nothing more of it and simply nodded to the man as he left. Afterwards when his partner went off to ask questions he sat in the room and drank sips of wine while deep in thought. He had to enter this party invited, and the best way he saw was as an entertainer. To do this, it would be best to find some already invited and get hired, failing that he would simply need to slip in with unnoticed, to blend in with the crowd. He did not really need to get it, Nissa would be enough on her own, and he had no doubts she could enter. Still two sets of eyes, two minds were better than one.
He would try for juggler, or something like that if such looked like it could work. A man of his profession was often a master of many minor trades. |

Nessa inclined her head as she left, "Gentlemen, see you soon."
As she walked around the city she had intended to begin with snobbish coffee shops, and higher end shops to ask about the upcoming party. Soon however she found herself completely lost amid the twisting city streets. Nessa cursed her distracted thoughts, but began her work regardless, attempting to find her way back as she went. Zippo, Nadda, Nothing. Despite the innkeepers assurances that everyone knew this gnome, she was apparently off her mark. Several hours wasted. Nessa leaned up against a storefront and closed her eyes to wish away her frustration. She was off her game today, and needed to focus. It had long since become a tedious notion to compare her daily stresses to those her sister must be experiencing, however wasted time still gnawed at her. She would free her sister from hell, if she had to spend a small kingdom's wealth to do it. The thought gave her a second wind. She hailed the first cabby that came down the lonely street she found herself on, and with determination found herself in what she hoped was a more promising area of town. Here we go again.
