The docks of Bel-Ingran; a continuous miles long boardwalk architecture capped by guard houses at every two or three block interval. The boardwalk armature extended out into the unnamed body of water that is largely tied to the Savsom Sea. Most people refer to it as the Ingran Bay, but no official title has been given.

Ships of all different shapes and sizes lined the boardwalks of the massive spread of docks, many of which were in various stages of construction or repair. Elaborate crane systems were in place, covered with varying sizes of chain and ropes, for use in the assistance of the work on the respective ships. Private docks, public, rental, government owned, some even off the books for the right price. Indeed, Ingran Bay was reported to be the most elaborate docking network in all of the world, and it attracted people from all over the world as well. There were scores of hard, weathered sailors, men and women alike. Soldiers from different countries around the world, nobles, merchants, craftsmen. Of course there were pockets of shifty characters, pirates? Who could say?

One thing was certain, for every ship that was in the water, someone had to check in with the dock master. And if there was something that they couldn't handle, there was the harbor master to pick up the slack. There were dock master stations at every interval connected to the guard houses with the harbor master being stationed at every other interval. The dock masters looked to be of different repute all along the shore line and it appeared that there were different 'districts' of the docks, just like there would be in a city of such size. In fact, that's just what this looked like after taking in the whole scene; sprawling organic city.

There were crowds of people about. The area opposite the water being a cobbled mainland covered in people and all manner of shops and vendors. The towering statue of the scales of justice could be seen just off to the south, a leering symbol that the ever vigilant Teche was watching... Always. Those were the three massive bronze figures just beyond the docks. The figures marked the beginning of the grounds for the courthouse of Ethea. Like the rest of Bel-Ingran, law and justice were pinnacle elements of society. The statues were a shrine to Thaia, goddess of Law and Judgment. The central figure was a barely clothed female figure holding out a set of merchant scales. To her right, a masculine bare chested male warrior wearing a kilt, a round light shield and holding the pommel of a longsword whose tip was resting on the base of the statue at his feet, bare with sandals strapped to his feet and wrapped around his legs. To her left there was a thinner man wearing a robe with the gospel of Thaia etched into a strip of cloth wrapped around his neck and hanging down to his ankles. He wore spectacles, was balding and with a smug corner of his mouth smirk he holds the handle of a gavel in one hand and the hammer end in the other. The triad: Weigh Transgression, Uphold Law and Administer Judgment.

The statues did not impede the order of business within the Ingran Bay harbor, but they did garner the attention of a fair number of people as they walked through, many of the reactions being disgust or repulsion, some of the reactions being respect and admiration. On the whole, though, the general tone of the crowd in response to the statues was that of indifference. Most just saw it as another part of their surroundings, an unimportant aspect of architecture looming over them, something that had to be walked around.

The horses and the wagon were not ill-received. For the most part they were ignored. They certainly were not the only horses in the area. A few strange looks were given to the odd group of people walking out of the small shanty dressed in armor and armed with weapons. A unique sense of power emanating from each in kind.

What I am looking for

I have two and a half players right now and we are struggling to keep things on track. I am open to ideas about what you might want to play, but keep in mind that there are some pretty heavy restrictions on this game so there will likely be some compromising that will take place during character generation.

This is an RP heavy game. We've been going for a little over a year now and there have only been two 'official' encounters. There will be some action, but so far there has been a lot of build up and there may be long droughts between encounters.

Right now they are riding a special dragon away from a land of undead from an encounter that nearly took them down. What's next is up in the air.


Character Creation
Starting Level: 16th
Starting Experience: 120k
Starting Wealth: 260k gp
Starting Races: PHB Core, no exceptions, with Human as preference.
Source Material
  • d20srd.org with limited access to the Unearthed Arcana variants. Please ask first. Sorry, but psionics don't fit here.
  • Core Books: PhB 1 and 2, DMG 1 and 2, MM3.5 (not that you need it) and MIC
  • Complete Series: Arcane, Adventurer, Divine, Mage, Scoundrel and Warrior
  • Ptolus Campaign Setting
  • Cityscape and Dungeonscape (no factotum)
  • Stormwrack
  • Races of: Destiny, Stone and Wild (no ToM/Binder/Factotum/Incarnum stuff please. I offer these books for variety, but I don't know them very well, so do keep that in mind.)
  • Tome of Battle

Starting Items
  • No single item may cost more than 100k
  • Custom Items are allowed so long as they follow the rules of creation and acquire GM approval.
  • You may purchase mundane goods from this Pathfinder List. I find it to be very thorough and flavorful and there is no apparent disparity between that and 3.5.
  • The Adventuring Gear table in Arms and Equipment Guide is also available for use.

Stat Generation
For this you have three options: Point Buy, Rolling or taking an Array. If you choose to roll, you may only roll once and you must keep your roll. No turning back. So for those of you who are die hard random stat rollers, be my guest.
  1. 36 point buy

  3. 18, 16, 14, 14, 12, 10

Hit Points
You may either roll for your hit points, taking max at first level, or take 3/4 hit points, with max at first level. If you choose to roll, please reroll ones.

Things to Avoid
  • Shapeshifting (this applies to wild shaping and polymorph. alter self is legal.)
  • Summoning (nature's ally, monster, planar ally...)
  • Breaking the game in any fashion.
  • Plane Shifting (it just doesn't work)
  • Teleportation Magic.
    • Teleportation only works with a teleportation circle, which means its range and location are fixed and it is very expensive.
    • Dimension Door and other similar abilities or spells are reduced to Close range.

I love this idea and will probably create a barbarian or fighter of the Sparn or maybe a ranger/rogue from land of the dead.

I like it, I like it.... How much time do we have to come up with an app? Juggling which ideas sound best. Would you be opposed to a pirate? I mean, it does seem like it might be a nautical game, after all.

Are you willing to consider classes from Dragon Magic? Specifically Dragonfire Adept? They don't have any plot altering abilities and seem to fit in with the dragon friendly theme.

The only thing I see being iffy is that they have access to an incantation called "Humanoid Shape" and I see that you're opposed to shape changing abilities. I don't fully understand the Alter self ability to be able to tell whether this is more similar to that or less for better or worse.

Firstly, I am in the process of getting the prefix changed to 3.5e so more people will know this is a dnd game and perhaps more traffic will occur.

Land of the dead is closed to any and all character creations. As is Gha'skel'yd. I will put this in my amendment post, once I create it.

Here I see two concerns. 1) You are asking for a source that is not on an already very restricted source list. 2) You are asking for something that has an undefined shape changing ability. Those are two pretty big strikes, and as cool as it would be to focus on dragons, you should trust me when I say that they are not a large part of this game. That was just a snippet of what is happening now with the group. They will be dropped off at some point and hopefully meet someone from this thread and pick up an adventure there. At least, that's my goal. So back to the drawing board?

I'd love to play a Stormlord, but I was wondering if we could alter it slightly where the god could be Thor instead of Talos. Maybe change up some of the abilities to work with warhammers instead of spears and javelins...
