Holding up the orb between her and the frozen skeleton she focused her mind, and the returning power coursing through her blood drove away a small measure of the cold. After a moment the skeleton appeared through the mist, her target acquired. She focused her thoughts, calling to mind the feeling of a roaring tavern common room. Projecting that scene into the creature's simple mind she smirked as it halted in it's tracks. The feeling of warmth all around it was throwing off it's unnatural thought process, and the sensation of the flames at it's back made it unable to take a step further. |

With a roar, Silver claw ran forward "Vile creatures of darkness, I will destroy you!" he bellowed as he neared the southern undead. He plunged his axe downwards in both hands, and caught the undead with a solid blow, and then followed up by breathing a blast of lighting over the two undead.

Kaestra was about to remark on Valynna's rock trick when chaos erupted. She looked up to see what was going on and reached for her sword even as Valynna made her suggestion. She pulled the blade free and held it firmly in both hands but hesitated. Instead of advancing, as her sister suggested, she instead backed off. "I don't want to fight in there with all the ice and cold... Let's hold the doorway and let them come to us..." She readied herself in case one of the zombies tried to attack. "I'll stand guard here and you with your bows and spells can hit them from behind." Only she and Silverhand used weapons and although she had seen Georg fight up close, she guessed it was not his most favorite way of engaging an enemy. With the Lizardfolk having already rushed forwards, it only made sense that she did what she could to defend the others from direct engagement.

The fire sizzled and crackled as it filled the room beyond. A burst of cold air was expelled, as the heat took its place, and then the shattering sounds of the remaining two pillars was heard. Neither zombie caught in the blast vulnerable (5) fireappreciated the intense heat of Georg's magic, but the two now emerging from their prisons were left untouched, for now.
__________________Leaning around, Valynna barely manages to catch the first ice-covered zombie with her magic, but the spell still traps it in place, as well as the ice had held her moments ago. He starts swinging his torch about him, but the intense chill slows the frantic motions. The other hunters fire arrows towards the zombies at the back of the room, but their concern for their friend distracts them. Valynna slowly backs away, still staring at the battlefield through the orb. "It seems they bring their chill with them. Hmm...I'll keep them confused, maybe I can turn them on one another."
She focuses on the images in her orb again, seeing the Are you a lizardman or dragonborn? It seems to switch from time to time.large scaled warrior surrounded by chilled skeletons. With a mental nudge the images blur until the man appears to be surrounded by duplicates of himself, and a burst of energy pushed the image into the minds of the skeleton. "There, now they can't tell the difference between our large friend and their own brethren." |

Kaestra gasps in horror as one of Caerwil's Elven allies is swallowed up by the expanding ice. "Get back from the door!" she warns the others. "Silverhand! Get out of there!" The poor Lizardfolk was going to be stuck like Valynna had been and like the Elf was now if he did not retreat. The young Eladrin raised her sword, which suddenly glimmered with a sheen of viscous liquid over its surface. She slashed at one of the zombies as if it were standing right in front of her, sending a spray of acid at the creature. "Come on, Georg," she suggested as she withdrew past the wizard and away from the ice.

"Yes," Georg agrees and withdraws next to the eladrin. Noting the benefit his fire had against the creature of ice, the wizard unleashes another torrent of fire into the room. He keeps the flames away from the closest zombie in an effort to spare Xavroar.

"Urgh, what vileness is this!" Xavroar said as he swung his axe at one of the skeletons. His first attack, the back swing of his previous attack, landed a solid blow, but he was too distracted by the chill of the ice to land either of his next two swings. Feeling the bite of the Ice, Xavroar backed away from the skeletons.

Valynna steps away from the chilling effect, and throws another illusion into the room. All those within see imaginary foes around them, though the zombies do not understand what they are. As Kaestra retreats, she delivers an acidic blow to one of the zombies, and watches as Georg's fiery attack all bloodieddevastates the other three.

From beyond the zombies, the noise of more shattering ice is heard, and the grinding of doors being pushed open follows. Whatever was within the southern chamber is now awake, free, and will be joining the battle soon! But for now, the zombies slowly move forward. As slow as they were, Xavroar could not quite escape them, and two one hit; 13 damage, immobilised (one round), and 5 ongoing cold damage (save ends)charged at his back. The ice crept forward, but slightly slower than before; whilst kaestra, Ceorg and Xavroar all felt the 10 cold damage eachfrosty auras around the closer zombies. "I won't be able to hold them off much longer. Someone bolster my strength if you can, then back up out of their chilling Aura. I'll hold the line as long as I can." Xavroar said as he once again swung his Axe, and once again missed the enemy in front of him.

Kaestra stepped forward to join the reptilian warrior, taking on one of the badly burned zombies. Her sword glows with psychic energy and slashes at the abomination. "Don't worry, you won't be facing this threat alone." Emotional energy flows from the young Eladrin, heartening and strengthening the warrior's resolve. She then turned her attention to the zombie, raising her shield and sword to defend herself.

"'Hold the line' is not sufficient, that is a decidedly 'last stand' course of action. I'm not dying here and neither are any of you."
As her last illusion left the group of skeleton's minds began to fade she focused on one and recharged it, driving it into striking what it thought was it's lizardman foe. Instead it lunged at it's ally, leaving it exposed to counter-attack by Xavroar. |

"Get out of there!" Georg complains to Caerwil's archer who stands in prime position for another burning. His words come out slightly slurred as the cold aura saps the heat from his body. Raising his staff to the zombie which now lumbers uncomfortably close, the wizard lets out a clean ball of force that rockets to the creature and bounces on to his companion. Georg then attempts to put distance between himself and the monsters once more.

Xavroar stood, trying to fight off the zombies, as his feet slowly became attached to the floor. But Kaestra was not about to leave him behind - stepping forward, she attacked the weaker of the zombies, and helped shatter a little of the ice off of the lizardman's armour.
__________________The zombie then turned and, under direction from Valynna, 12 damage (bloodied), and immobilisedthumped its companion; Xavroar let the situation I elected not to get Xavroar to attack. If he did, he would attack first, possibly killing Z2 before it attacked. Also, he wouldn't be marking (thus defending) Kaestra! Moments later, an explosion of pure magical energy tore the remnants of the zombie apart, though it left its companion unaffected. As the zombie exploded, an intense blast of cold went forth; Kaestra was quick to cover her face, but Xavroar caught the crit! 20 cold damage, slowed (save ends).full force, causing him to blink intensively to clear the frost from his eyes. One of the elven hunters landed an arrow in the struggling zombie before the final pair moved forward. The final two zombies closed in, intent on taking down the immobilised lizardman, his cold blood causing him to hazard: 5 cold damage, slowed (save ends)react so much slower than he wanted. Fortunately, his armour still held fast, and their dead hands thumped harmlessly against the strong metal. But that wasn't a problem for their final foe: from the depths of the shadows, another shape moved. It stepped forward into the light, and those outside saw a four-armed demon look out. It held a nasty trident, and had ice covering most of its body, which was slowly cracking off as it moved. Standing just within the hallway, it breathed in, then belched out a toxic blast of Xavrora and Kaestra take 10 poison damage, 5 ongoing poison damage (save ends)poisonous vapour which wafted over and around the pair, stinging them and shaking the fighter's already weakened limbs. Inside his armour, Xavroar's zombie aura: 10 cold damage to Xavroar and Kaestrabody temperature continued to drop, as did Kaestra's. But whilst Kaestra reacted with Ardent Outrage triggered, everyone gets CA next turnoutrage, Xavroar drifted into the distressing realm of unconsciousness. "Withdraw! Kaestra, withdraw! NOW!" Panic grips Valynna as she sees the lizardman fall to the floor, with her sister still in the path of the skeletons and the newly arrived demon.
Her eyes flash and begin to glow with power, and she starts to build a mental block in the minds of her enemies to slow their advance. However in her haste she makes vital errors, and the skeletons break the flawed block. The demon, fortunately, had been subject to less of her magic and was not able to spot the inconsistencies. To it the hall suddenly seemed filled with swinging blades, jets of acid criss-crossing, and spike-covered floors. |
