Dice Attack Roll:
Missing horribly he sighs in protest. Stepping onto the boat for Stormreach, I never thought I'd be reduced to this... Giving it his all and pulling back on the clumsy club, Decipio concedes that this form of combat is not his forte. Last edited by Quori; 04-29-2012 at 10:02 PM. |

Tiring of the skeleton's hopping and dodging, Altar steps forward and seizes it between his metal arms. The woody fibers beneath his composite plating contract, squeezing the undead like a vice and filling the room with a chorus of cracks like snapping firewood. A plume of smoke goes up as the last of the alchemical fire gutters out in the dust and what is left.
With the battle over, you take a better look at the entrance to the crypt. Empty, toppled pedestals that may have once displayed art or some sort of trophy lay toppled upon the floor beneath the raised platforms on either side. Strangely, it seems as if someone were cleaning up before the skeletons arrived. Rubble and debris have been piled up at the bases of the pillars or pushed into corners, making clear walkways. You also see two wooden doors, one to the east and one to the west. Although obviously old, they are made of strong-looking vertical beams of wood. A lever-type mechanism is on the wall beside either door. Looking back, you can see Ratter peering in through the entrance from the tunnel. "Skelton bad juju. Rattax stay here," he croaks in barely understandable Common, crouching in the grass and looking about as if paranoid that more skeletons would appear at any moment. Altar nods to the little creature. "If were are not back or trouble finds it's way here, we will not blame you if you run."
__________________With that said the priest picks up a femur from one of the fallen skeletons, which he promptly discards upon seeing a more intact one. He say a few words of prayer and magic infuses the bone shedding some light in the room. He looks at the other femur just discard and picks it back up casting light upon it as well. With two bones one in each hand he looks about the room. He then looks to his companions. "I assume they thought this area secure and someone further in opened a new room, ushering the skeletons on them. I suggest we be wary as their may be straggler skeletons in the hallways ahead. let's go area by area, together so we can not be overwhelmed, starting with the closest." With that said the warforged Move to I4 and open the door. He will hesitate a moment incase anyone volunteers to search for traps first.begins to move to the nearby door. |

Altar pulls the lever upon the wall and the door retracts into the ceiling amid the clatter of gears and pulleys, revealing a short, cobweb-strewn hallway that opens up into a larger room, nearly as big as the entrance hall. In the center of the room, his light glints off of what appears to be a pool of water, fed by a fountain on the wall above it. The fountain has a stone statue of a weeping maiden holding the body of a slain warrior, but his head has been broken off and is nowhere to be seen.
"Magic is the key," a voice booms out from the darkness above. It slowly fades, leaving a dreadful silence. |

Altar looks into the room, tossing one of the femurs forward to get a better look. He then casts detect magic, looking around the room visually inspecting it again.

Minharath watches Altar move around, his hands laced in his sleeves once again. His eyes are nearly shut, just open enough to give him the ability to see while throwing others off. He had little to contribute here so he stood back and stayed politely out of the way.

Decipio drops the club and alerts the group to the items he found in the man's backpack in case they are interested.
__________________With that, he steps forward with Altar who looks to be very cautious (maybe even more so than himself). He offers to Dice Search:

Altar tosses one of the light-bearing bones into the room to get a better look at things, the bone clattering as it slides to a halt against the pool's edge. Cobwebs drift in the breeze overhead as he peers intently into the room, trying to discern what, if any, magics are afoot...

Helice raises an eyebrow; even as the last echoes of her ancient paean of respect for the dead pass, she watches Altar harvesting femora as if they were glowrods with not a little discomfort.
She lets it pass for the moment though, instead relying pointedly to Rattax Not 'juju', they were once people, who lived, loved, fought.... her voice quavers a little; she continues it's not their fault someone used Evil to play with their bones like puppets. She sticks close to the other party members as Altar opens the door and hurls his grisly trophy into the room. When the warning voice booms forth, almost simultaneously with the Warforged priest she mutters a short incantation. Her eyes suddenly light as if from within and she joins him in scanning the room for any traces of dweomer. |

Altar walks in the room, following his bone to the edge of the pool. "I detect only a trace of illusory magic, most likely the source of that voice."
__________________Closer he looks the statue over, and looks into the pool to see what may lurk in it's depths, and if it is too deep he drops the bone inside. |

Altar steps to the edge of the pool, which is a three-feet-high containing-wall made of the same stuff as the walls, floor, and pillars around you. The surface of the ledge was once decorated with flowing artistry, but it has since been chiseled and hammered, it seems - defaced much as the statue has been. Water flows from the wall and down the body of the woman, over the form of the man laying within her arms before splashing into the clear waters below.
Altar peers down into the waters, unable to see a bottom. Dropping one of the bones bearing an enchantment of light, he watches it for several long moments before it comes to rest far below. The pool is quite deep... and as you peer down into its depths, you cannot help but to think that you see something else at the bottom. Something metallic? It would almost seem that the bottom of the pool is lined with gold... Those of you that approach the pool can see two sturdy oaken doors in the south wall similar to the one through which you passed, but neither of these possess levers with which to open. |

Decipio rubs his chin for a moment, looking into the pool of water. "Altar, good thinking."

Altar looks down to the "gold". "I bet that is a trap.." he says simply. "As I don't breath, I could jump down there at the end of a rope and look for any levers."
__________________He says that as he waits for the results to Decipio's magic. "Hmm.. That may work as the voice said Magic is the Key." |

Minharath follows Altar, grateful at the Warforged's initiative. He stayed back to the back of the group, looking around to make sure nothing got the drop on them. "Ladies and gentlemen, be careful. I have a feeling we aren't the only living people in here."

"Are you suggesting that the entire nation of Karrnath relies on the use of evil magic, Helice?" Sesha for her part simply follows the party. A golden pit of water, a mysterious voice, she seemed completely untouched by all of it. She followed and she waited.
