I made one additional post in the next day so I could get my religion check in. Sorry Tilbert! I don't want to leave you behind!

Happy Easter everyone!

yes ... happy easter to everyone !

It's not my decision, that Prod cannot imagine, what 'in tune with the nature' and 'keeper of balance' are supposed to mean ... he's simple minded, I guess... Even with my post, I am not yet in 'tomorrow' ;-)

Getting to Know the Boards

I'm still trying out the different features of the message board system. I hope I didn't do anything wrong by putting in quotes of previous characters. I felt that it was easier in my last post's explanations. I also hope I did right with the Spoiler tag. Let me know if anything is wrong or simply a dis-likable style.

It's usually best if you refer to other players' comments without quoting their own posts. You would basically write it out from a 3rd-person view, as if you were watching it unfold and then write it out as your character would perceive it as. Quoting the posts of other players kind of defeats the purpose.

... hm ... tricky situation ... I can understand, that you want to give a clear reference to your action, the 'quote-boxes', however, tear your post apart ... which is kind of sad, since you took time to write it...

In addition to the 'appearance' of the post, I would avoid to refer to post that 'far behind' ... in cases other than this, it may look like 'trying to have the last word' ...

also, I think, Crystopher gave a good hint ...

finally and despite the line above, a suggestion how to make it look nicer ...
alternative...Zook comes to stand by a barrel, his head barely sticking over the top. He sits his small, heavy mace down on top of the barrel. He then licks the tips of his fingers just before smoothing out the small strands of hair proceeding from the bottom point of the back of his head down to the middle of his torso. He wraps the rat-tail (as he calls it) around his neck playfully as Rayka

"That I be, my good lady!" His broad smile more than expresses his eagerness for travel. "Already said mi goodbyes to mi family and all!" He then snaps the small heavy mace into his right hand and swings two slowed swings at each side of the barrel. "Huu! Haa!" He raises his voice somewhat with a high pitch, "Bring it on ya nasties!" The gnome glances back at Rayka with a chuckle (Heh.. Heh.. Heh..) just as Ezra walked upon them.

How do you make the text appear when you hover over the highlighted text?

Er.... nevermind... figured it out... sorry everyone.

I edited my post. In the future I will refrain from referring to actions far back in the thread.

Eh. I'd say it depends. It's not like your character is going to ignore somebody else's just because you as a player took a bit longer to respond than some of the other players. There's no simple, widely accepted way to make the fluidity of RP via pbp work, but I think what everyone is doing right now is pretty effective. By that, I just mean that we are, for the most part, all staying together in timeframe (except for Tilbert, whose RP is taking a bit longer because that's the nature of the character being played) by waiting for everybody else to post, and then responding to each person in turn in a single post.

As long as nobody goes off on a tangential conversation and gets way ahead of everybody else (by say, making a bunch of shorter posts that only deal with one other character, which can get confusing and leave other players out), I think the format we're using now is fine. That being said, sometimes RP does call for conversations with other players consisting of more than one liners. That's where things get touchy. I've seen this handled in a number of ways.

Sometimes the DM will make a thread for more in depth IC conversation which doesn't drag down the flow of the overall game because the interaction is being held in a different thread. This allows conversations between characters to be completed quickly without cluttering up the main game thread. The problem with this is that you have to cross-reference when the conversation was held to what's going on in the game, which can be complicated. Another problem is if you start conversations with multiple characters, or multiple conversations with one character, or even multiple conversations with multiple characters(), things can get really confusing.

Another way to solve the problem would be by separating posts out, where part of the post is used to continue a conversation with a character, while the other part of the post is to keep up with the rest of the players in the game. This can be confusing for many of the same reasons as the other solution, and sometimes conversations (like the one Tilbert's character is having with Jubnuk) are vital to what the character does next, and it wouldn't make sense to jump your character ahead to a different situation if s/he might ultimately not be in that situation in the first place because of the results of a previous conversation (that may still be going on).

I like the idea of there being a separate thread for more in-depth character conversations. I admit, there have been a couple of times that I wanted to have a deeper conversation but was worried bout disrupting the flow of the game.*

I imagine that it would be especially useful when we're just walking along the caravan or sitting around the campfire before setting off to bed. In the separate thread for "in-depth" conversations you could always reference the location with a quote, and wrap up conversations as needed.*

I also feel like I shouldn't post in the main game thread before most everyone else has a chance. But with talking to just one or two others you could respond after them. Makes sense.*

We could try a separate IC campfire thread next to the OC one.
The actual locations of where the conversations take place doesn't matter really.
Focusing on when and where these things happen would most likely cause a great deal of unnecessary confusion.

It'd be fun to have, and a great tool for breathing life into our characters.
What i am thinking of is some sort of endless conversation that all of the characters can participate in.
Sitting around a flickering campfire occasionally tossing in a twig or two every so often telling tales.

If this happens it would be best to not allow story events to limit conversation (Ex: The group has been split up for a cleverly planned out ambush)
At the same time allow characters to talk about things that have happened in the story. (Ex: Someone dies)
Another idea would to not allow important discussions to take place here (Ex: The Clever Planning of the ambush)

Hello all,

if you like, you can have the conversations of you chars here: Side conversations

Please be aware that with all chars more or less talking higgledy-piggledy, I'll not play there. Thus, important questions and talks with NSCs are still part of the main Game Thread.

Sweet. I'm very excited to start using that.

I wanted to let you all know that I am having a blast with this adventure so far. This has been a lot of fun. I'm really enjoying my experience with PbP. So, thanks for a really great story and very interesting characters.
