Stop shouting and abandon your pretentious expectation for me to kowtow.
Without so much as a trace of that treacherous thought on his face, Adin smiled (not that you could tell under the wrappings) and kowtowed. He approached so that neither of them would have to shout: “No rest for the dead, is there? I‘m actually here to make your day a little easier if it’s within my ability to do so.” He pulled one of his gloves down, lowering it just enough to reveal the edges of the runes stitched into his desiccated flesh. “I inquired with Morresus’ pet hobgoblins; amidst the grunts and squeals, your name came up as an employer of finesse and talent. As it so happens, I am finesse and talent looking for employment, so I thought to myself that perhaps I should see if there was some task you needed done.” |

You hit him in the face once dealing a nasty 21 damage.
Dice Roll:
Dice Roll:
Total Damage Taken: 93 The vampire gives one look at the ambitious ghoul in front of her. Alright big man you want to be a serious part of this faction then we'll give you some serious work. If you didn't know BugRott the proclaimed King of the Ghouls is choosing to remain neutral, you filthy undead care little for politics and only for carcasses. Your task will be to convince him to serve our Lich King when he is called upon. Him and his ilk always lurk in the shadows by the funeral altar, it's the area you walked into when you walked into the district. You know as well as I that the only way to convince limb-eaters like you is by brute force and you'll probably have to kill the wretched King and a few ghouls, make sure you don't kill ALL of them. You probably want to do this with a group or maybe you don't, maybe you have an undeath wish but if you EVER come back here without finishing my task I will kill you myself and let your comrades eat your cadavers. Don't care how you do it, don't want to know, make sure the ghouls support us King or no King, now Go. Warning: rolls have been deleted from this post.

“Your will be done, milady.”
Adin left the Black Chalice and immediately made for the rooftops: for what he had in mind, slumming it with the pedestrian rabble would be unproductive. Leaping, climbing, and tumbling his way over the clustered dwellings and narrow roof-walks, he slowed his pace when he returned to the funeral alter. His final few steps were cautious, and he took cover as he stalked forward. From his hidden vantage point, he observed the macabre congregation of ghouls as they fed. The so called King of Ghouls was likely among them, and Adin sought to take his measure before making plans to take his unlife. |

After spending a day gathering information for the mistress Iliv decides that it's time to spend a day gathering information for himself and seeing about work for himself; thankfully he can both support the will of his ersatz matriach and serve his own will at the same time. Considering his skills as a drow of the underdark he has decided his best bet is with the head family of the ghetto of foreigners and soon finds himself at the gate of their manor major.
Assessing the man at the front as a mere guardsman Iliv will approach with his arms crossed as his slave comes up a couple of steps behind, head bent deferentially: "I would talk with someone about employment; tell them my skills involve tracking and moving freely within the underdark where others may not as well as no small combat prowess." Grashek: When he tries to grab you you lunge forward and pummel his face with your flindbar. First you hit his right eye effectivley "popping" it, with bloodlust in your heart you hit him on the side of his head cracking his skull, then you hit him in the exact same spot which caves in that part of his skull, he falls over dead. The crowd roars with excitement. Look like we have a winner! It is the Gnoll. The crowd goes wild and starts chanting Gnoll, Gnoll Gnoll!
You leave to the underbelly where you see the battlemaster grinning. Lucky bastard. Well you have earned it, you had exactly ONE kill so you get exactly 5 gold. I was gonna get you to fight a second fight directly after this one but I think I'll hold off on that. You seem quite popular with the crowd. I'll call on you when we have an opportunity to put on a better display, and you might or might not be trained in showmanship I'll see what my mistress wants. Just stay in town or you'll be sorry, now get out of my sight. Adin: While there are about six ghouls around, none of them seem to be particularly special looking. That could be that the King hides in plain sight with his minions or he just isn't there. Even though the area you are looking down is a "town square" of sorts, there are many crooked alleyways adjacent in all directions and it is possible there are more of your kin lurking in the shadows. You as a Ghoul know exactly why there are not any Ghouls out in the square, the corpses have been almost consumed in full, not much is left. You could wait for a funeral to occur so the vile things can come back out after it's over or you could go searching for these creatures on your own, it's up to you. Grashek howls as the giant topples at his feet. He gouges one of its arms and rips out a long bone, then cracks it and eats the marrow. Droplets of blood speckle his black armor like rain. The flind nods as the battlemaster debriefs him. "Very good. I will be available any time, outside my other duties." Grashek leaves the arena with a spring in his step and the rattle of gold in his pocket.
Returning to the inn, he goes upstairs to check on the others. |

Erelehi-Cinlu being a Drow city, Adin is certain that there is no shortage of freshly made corpses. Rather or not they receive funeral rites is another matter, but hunters must be patient.
He elects to remain hidden, still and silent as only the dead can be, and waits for the next funeral. Hopefully BugRott will make an appearance. |

The guards, at first snarling at you, have their interest peaked when you mention you can track through the underdark. We may have a use for you, there have been a few looking for trackers. I'll show you to someone who may be of interest, that..thing will not be allowed in for security reasons and you must surrender ALL weapons.
Dice Roll:
The guard leads you to Knucklebone's inn and as ordered the slave of Iliv must wait outside. The place is in severe disrepair but the Dwarf propriter does not seem to care, but the structure looks like it could collapse at any minute. You see that a good third of the main floor has been occupied by some sort of female official who has created a temporary VIP section which she has her back to thee corner, as any good politician would. You see she has a line waiting to be received by her so they can grovel like good subjects. Most likely they are asking for favors in return for whatever dirty work she needs done. You and the guard wait for half of an hour to even be considered to be recieved. The guard whispers in her ear all while taking the proper etiquitte procedures, she finally speaks to you. You are not employed now? Why? Stray animals are stray because they have served their mistresses poorly in the past Grashek: You meet up with Talneth and inquire on how else you can serve her, you also fill her in on what happened. Talneth: You are at the Black Widow inn right now so do you hold fast or do you do something else? Adin: Four hours pass by and a funeral procession does show up. You can't really hear what is spoken but the whole ceremony lasts less than 20 minutes and the dead noblewomen is buried in a humble shroud, no need to waste anything on the dead. The group leaves quickly for the feast is about to begin. About a dozen ghouls show up and some other strange undead with tenticles wrapped around them show up, but they hover like the hyenas when the lions are consuming prey. You look very closely and see one particular ghoul stand out. This ghoul is shrowded in insects gnawing at his flesh. You see what covers its body is half insect crawling on his skin crawling and half rotten flesh, it seems to do whatever it wants in terms of consuming parts of the corpse, it may be BugRott it may not be. One thing is for sure, the ghouls are sparing no piece of flesh and they are fast at consuming their food. Last edited by AlexN; 06-06-2012 at 11:56 PM. |
