The final Post of the Month contest under the old rules is over, and once again the community make our judges' job delightfully difficult.

With this post, FadingEcho tackles a particularly difficult literary device - telling one character's tale through the prism of another's reactions - and pulls it off flawlessly. The writing is rich and evocative, providing a wealth of detail without letting minutia dominate the narrative, and we feel as much passengers as Gideon himself does, following carefully in every step of an assassin's silent boots, experiencing every merciless moment until the grim errand is complete.
