Diablo 3 Chat
First questions first: who has the game? Who has it ordered, and is waiting (that's me!)? Who is grabbing it as soon as it hits shelves? |

Oh, D3. I feel I'm in a rather unique position regarding it. Here, have a list of bullet points: if you can match every one to your situation too, please let me know.
__________________-Doesn't have it preordered. -Plans to buy it on or shortly after release. -Has never played D1 or D2. -RPG lover, so should probably like it. -Enthralled at the prospect of making real money while playing it. -Still not entirely sure how it's going to play. (Feel free to answer this question for me!) -Likes Blizzard as a company, so willing to throw some money at them to find out. (WoW is a well-designed RPG; the only reason I quit is because of the catch-22 gear progression) -Probably won't disappear for an extended period on its release. (Yes, my games will go on!) -Going to be playing it on a Mac. |

A friend ordered the CE for me (nice friend) but it won't be here on release day. I am not ravenous about the game like I was about D2 so I don't really mind. For personal reasons I stopped playing D2 and I never beat either one.
__________________I played in the closed and open betas but found the first level completely disgusting. Not in terms of being unpolished but just really gross. Zombies full of eels/worms that, when exploding, send the worms/eels slithering out? *gag* Ghouls that barf and zombies that rise up from the barf? *urf* I would have liked to see more content during beta to help me determine if I want to actually push my way past the first level. Will it impact my other games? Not likely. Will I create a backstory, etc? Nope. It's a hack-and-slash and I won't likely put any time or thought into that. For deep story, I go to my beloved DnDOG.

I played d1 for 5 minutes. blah. D2 I've played since release up until now! LOD(expansion) was great too. I have never met anyone who hasn't liked diablo 2. ever. How does one make money playing d3? Its gonna play like an RTS game that is pretty fast paced. You can control the pace by just not moving if you need to slow down. Powers can be tweaked/buffed like in diablo 2, if you had 10 ranks of one skill, it would up a skill below it(stronger) up a certain %. I am curious myself on how the follower system is going to work. Its a 3d character in a 2d sandbox environment. My bet is that I am going to make one of every new class to see what playstyle I like. I am leaning towards shaman because its the closest thing to Necromancer, which imo was the most badass class in d2 |

Wait, wait, wait.
__________________Are you telling me that you're interested in D3 and haven't heard about one of their earliest reveals that shocked half the gaming community, including those that aren't even pro-Blizzard? I wasn't aware that was possible. Anyway, assuming you honestly haven't heard (which I will admit, is possible), Blizzard announced a long time ago (back when I was still playing WoW, which, according to records, I quit on August 31, 2011) that they're going to add an auction house where players can trade their items for real money. If I'm feeling underpowered, I can go drop a few dollars on some better gear, and most* of that money will go directly to the item seller, who is another player just like me. Or I can do the same thing in reverse, and if I'm good/lucky enough, I might actually be able to make a living by just playing D3 (I don't expect to, but one can dream, right?). *Blizzard will be taking a percent of the cut; I'd estimate and hope about 5%, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was as high as 20%**. **Dear Blizzard: If, by some off chance you're reading this, understand that you're literally rolling around in money, and a ridiculously high house cut on something like this is only going to tick people off. You don't need 20%. Hell, you could probably make it 1% and still be swimming in cash. |

doghealer, I read up out of curiosity, and they are screwing people pretty badly on it.
__________________I didn't in fact know about it, since I stopped paying attention to D3 when they pushed back the game another YEAR =( this was last year and I was pissed so I stopped following then. So, I read up on it, its $1 per transaction for the auction house, THEN when you want to transfer your funds to lets say....Paypal? its 15% off the top. So, that is soooo much. I guess the 85% is ok, but you would really have to grind like a mofo in order to make a living off of it. the 15% could be tax deductible lol oh im sorry. its 15% transaction fee and THEN another 15% when you want to send it to paypal. I guess if you don't want to send it to paypal there must be another way to get the money. maybe they mail you a check? 30% off the top feels like WAYYYYY too much edit- there is no other way to cash out that I found except paypal. so if you keep it in your account you can pay for things like WOW subscriptions and such. so whatever you make 1/3 goes to blizz. gay Last edited by kyo; 05-12-2012 at 09:15 PM. |
