"No, you can tell them Di, it's ok." Kat looked at Juliet and shrugged. "It turns out Scott Reynolds and I are half-siblings. Can you believe it? Considering the way he used to try and pick me up all the time, it's a little disturbing if I stop to think about." She turned back to Di and gave her a look that said a lot. "People swimming in the floor? Come on! Really?" She looked to Juliet for confirmation and shook her head when she got it. Kat saw Jake looking her way and gave him a wave before turning back to Di and Juliet.
"Will do," Bill replies to Jake about the pictures. "I'll send them over to you when I get home. I uhh, have a secondary e-mail account I use sometimes so I'll use that one. You happen to have something similar? "I'm still going to keep an eye on Chris's place," Dave says. "Maybe just half of one now if you really think he isn't up to anything but I still think I saw him flying." "It's cool," Rico replies to Alex. "I'm headed to the shop to change my order, I was a second issue one of that new release. Want to go with me? |

"Really. I'm serious." Diana said deadpan, looking around at the other students. "Wait, Scott tried to pick you up before? I can't picture that." She really couldn't. It was like Scott and Sam had been together forever, in her head. Trying to picture Scott pre-accident pre-white hair couldn't click in her mind.

Unlike a lot of her fellow classmates, Jess loved school and had looked forward to going back on Tuesday. With her camera in hand, she had snapped pictures in between the different periods and had caught the books hovering in midair but not the rumors of students having to swim through the hallways. She had been proud of the getting the books but after reviewing the photo she saw that it just looked like books thrown into the air. She really should have turned to video mode and filmed them hovering.
Waiting to be dismissed so she could head to the yearbook room to go through the hundred or so photos she had taken that day. She wasn't sure whether to include the books or not but as she was considering she spotted Diana, Juliet and Kat of the soccer team talking. Raising her camera, she started too take a picture of them and leaned back to get a slightly better view. Leaning back turned out to be her undoing as her book bag shifted and threw her off balance. Jess desperately tried to regain her balance but she was also determined to keep her camera safe, a combination that left her with no chance at recovering. Tumbling on the bleacher, she fell into another student and they started tumbling like dominoes, leaving a pile a four or five students lying at the base of the bleachers. Horrified and embarrassed, Jess started pushing herself off of the student she had landed on top of and realized it was Jake, the quarterback of the football team! "Jake! I'm so sorry, I was just trying to take a photo and I fell. Are you hurt at all?" That would be Jess's luck, taking out Jake and his never being able to play again. As she tried to get up she counterbalanced and fell once again, landing on one of the other players, was it Dave or Bill? "Sorry, I'm sorry!" |

Alex shook his head, giving a small, rather weak-looking smile. "No, it's okay. I think I'm just going to head home and chill for the day. I'm not going to let an early day go to waste, you know."

Unfortunately Diana got Quentin in what seemed to be a zoned moment. The truth however being he was in a bit of a conversation.
__________________Are you talking about the sound system or the student body. Because the first I agree with completely, the other - well, I'm a Mind Controlling Telepath and even I find that creepy. Quentin tells his 'roommate'. When he realized what had happened, he fired a text to Diana. That's it. That's the day he's going to roll the dice. Chris Kane died to save the world, the world turning back time to save Chris didn't seem like much to ask in return. Order, in itself, should never be the only goal. No matter what you're doing. |

The ensuing domino pile of cursing students definitely got Diana's attention and she looked over to see Epic Fail, as Melissa had dubbed her, apologizing profusely to the quarterback and his friends as they and a few other students struggled to get up. "I wonder what photo she was trying to take." Diana said, raising her own camera phone and quickly snapping a photo of the still sprawled students on the cascade of bleachers. Glancing at the result, she showed Kat. "Would it be mean to print this and stick it up on the board she uses?"

Kat rolled her eyes and smirked while Juliet tried to stop herself from laughing, not that it would have mattered over the rest of the student bodies comments, laughter and various jibes being thrown around. Kat took Diana's phone and sent the picture to herself before handing the phone back to Diana. "You know she takes submittals? I have the e-mail address for it. Let's see if she'll put it there herself before it mysteriously appears there. You want to send it to her or should I? Everyone expects it from me so if it just shows up then they'll think I did it."
"Humph" Sygma simply replies to Quentin. The normal dismissal chimes sound through the PA system and the students begin heading to the buses even as the students still pick themselves up from the tumble. Last edited by Daygamer; 06-03-2012 at 09:48 PM. |

The sudden tumble was unexpected and had Jake been even the slightest bit aware of what was going on around him, he might have been able to keep the disaster from happening. But what if's were of little use now. "It's okay ummm... Jess," he replied to the girl who had started all the commotion. She wasn't exactly someone he hung out with, but he knew here well enough from all the yearbook photos she took of him given all of the activities and groups he tried to be a part of. For the most part she seemed pretty cool, but he never really got to know her. Kind of like everyone at school. It was weird. Jake had always been surrounded by people wanting to be friends with him, but he never really got to know any of them as well as he probably should have. Mostly because he was afraid of losing his popularity. Actually getting too close to people could compromise everything he worked for. It was easier to walk away from people that made mistakes if he didn't have to feel bad about it.
Jake pushed himself up to his feet and reached down to help Jess up before anything else embarrassing happened. Plus it would look good if he helped the girl out. Dave and Bill would be fine on their own, "I've taken harder hits than that." He smiled at her reassuringly, "So what happened there? Somebody push you?" |

Startled that Jake would try and help her back to her feet, Jess chalked it up to Jake wanting good exposure. She didn't think that in a bad way or hold it against him but he was one of the popular kids and the jocks and she didn't belong in their circle. Everyone knew it, Melissa the soccer captain even called her Epic Fail, although they were all pleasant enough to her. "Thanks Jake,' Jess said the surprise and gratitude clear in her voice.
Jess glanced around and saw that Juliet, Kat and Diana were all looking her way and gave them an embarrassed grin. "No, I wasn't pushed. Just my natural balance and grace at work again. What's the saying? If I didn't have bad luck I would have none at all? You're not hurt right? You're sure, I would hate for you to get injured because of me." Like a lot of the girls at school, Jess had a crush on Jake and found herself suddenly flustered, "So," she started but then didn't know what she was going to say so she blurted out the first thing that came to mind. "Who are you taking to the Prom?" |

Jake went wide-eyed at the question. He was even more unprepared for it than he was for getting knocked over by the girl in front of him. "Prom?" his voice cracked in response and before he could even think about an answer his mouth was running at a mile a minute, "I hadn't really thought about it. I mean I've thought about it, but I haven't asked anyone to go with me or anything. Why? Do you wanna go?" Oh crap! Did I just ask her out to prom? I think I did. Oh man.. Well might as well go with it. "I mean cause if you want to, I suppose you could you know... go with me." What am I getting myself into? I don't even know her that well. "I mean if you want to that is." This was the point where Jake felt like maybe he should learn to think before speaking and maybe even try not to be such a nice guy all the time. Still, it could be fun. There was nothing wrong with Jess. Sure she wasn't one of the popular kids, nor was she a cheerleader, but that didn't mean it was all bad. It wasn't like she was one of those goth kids or one of those geeks from the Modern Arts club. And she was pretty enough in her own way that it wasn't like he was comitting social suicide. Maybe it would all work out for the best after all. He hoped.

"What? Me?!" Jess couldn't believe her ears that Jake, JAKE!, had just asked her to the prom. She was elated, she could go with Jake and it would be the best night of her high school life, she would remember it forever! "I would love to go to the Prom with you. I saw a dress the other day I thought was gorgeous but nobody had asked me."
While she was talking about the dress, reality set in and she stopped. Jake didn't really want to go with her, she wasn't his type at all. If she hadn't stopped his sports career with the fall from the bleachers then she would when they went out on the dance floor, probably a broken foot or torn Achilles tendon. It was a recipe for disaster. "I really appreciate it Jake and I would really love going with you but you don't really want to go with me right? I was just curious, I didn't mean to put you on the spot. It was sweet to ask though." She gave him a bittersweet smile as she gave him a way out, even as she desperately hoped he said otherwise. Wait! Is she really really turning me down?! She can't do that! I'm the one that is supposed to turn her down. I'm the quarterback of the football team. I'm the one who is popular in this school. There is no way she can turn me down. Doesn't she know how that will look for both of us? "I do want to go with you," Jake said emphasizing the words a little too much, "I wouldn't have asked you if I didn't. Plus if you've got a dress all picked out then it will be easier for us to coordinate our outfits." Jake smiled at Jess. He could understand if she was nervous or even a little surprised. He was surprised too, but he wasn't about to back out of something just because he wasn't sure it was such a good idea at first. He was committed to it now and there was no way he was going to let her get away now. Especially considering how enthusiastic she was after he asked her. That alone was reason enough to go with her. To see her that happy made him feel good inside. And he liked that.
"Look. Jess. I know this seems a little surprising, but I do really want to take you to prom," Jake said a little more calmly, "The question is, would you do me the honor of going with me?" Jake knelt down on one knee and reached for her hand. |

Juliet had been watching Jake and everyone get up from the spill that Epic Fail had caused and had started to walk toward them to offer her support to Jake. She was close enough to hear him ask her out again and her mouth fell open when she saw Jake go down on one knee to Jess. She was mostly behind and to one side of Jake so it was unlikely that he saw her but Diana and Kat had a clear view of Juliet's face as she turned around and walked directly to the girl's locker room, her lip quivering and blinking quickly to keep from crying.
Kat stared daggers at Jake and Jess and Diana knew the look all too well. The most memorable time that Diana had seen it, two members of the opposing team had been carried from the field. Kat turned and met Diana's eyes before moving after Juliet. When Kat and Diana found her, Juliet was in tears and kicking a locker. "Stupid Jess! She falls on Jake and he asks her out. I could have done that!" |

Turning bright red when Jake got down on one knee, Jess put her other hand over her mouth as she giggled. She couldn't believe it, Jake really did want to take her to the prom! Best. Day. Ever! Even if she knocked the punch bowl over and caused a minor riot at the Prom, nothing would ruin it for her if she was with Jake. She only wished she had a picture of Jake asking her so she would always remember it. "Well of course I'll go with you! I just didn't want you to think you had to take me."
Jess was beaming when she accepted his invitation and hugged him excitedly when he got back up, something that threatened to send both of them toppling to the floor. "Sorry!" Jess said laughing as she stepped back, only to almost trip over her book bag that had started the entire thing. "Do you want my number? I mean I know we'll see each other in school but in case you want to talk and coordinate. Oh thank you Jake!" |
