Diana... Staring at the creatures, Diana concentrated on them and tried to get them to leave. The result was much more dramatic and final than she expected when they all promptly disappeared, fizzing out of existence like a spark thrown from a flame. Her victory was cut short when she heard a noise, a cross between a roar and a crackling flame, in the distance. Looking toward the sound that was back in the direction of her home, she saw Matthew standing there staring at her. "You're a super! You have powers!" He turned and began to run, "Help! My sister is a super! Help!" Jake... After Jess said good-bye and they hung up, Jake heard a scream from his mother and yelling from Ray. Looking over, Jake saw a small humanoid figure of flame, around two feet tall, running at his house! Jake's mother was running away down the street and Ray looked uncertain whether to follow or stay. Over by the firefighters, some of the neighbors had gotten close enough to jump the emergency personnel and there was a brawl underway. One of the neighbors grabbed the fire hose and opened it, promptly being thrown as they were not expecting the force of the water. The unattended hose began whipping around, smashing into neighbors and firefighters alike. Jess... Rising into the sky, Jess reaches out and feels the clouds all around. They are not rain clouds but they are still charged and she begin gathering them together, bringing them closer and closer to the city. It will take some time to gather them but she thinks that if she condenses them she will get at least some precipitation. Joseph... It didn't take a lot of sweet talk to get the female paramedic to let Joseph borrow her phone. She also offered too check him out from head to toe, asking repeatedly if he had any trouble breathing while Joseph waited for Sam to pick up on her end. he even felt his waist band get snapped as she smiled at him, a glint in her eye. Sam, Scott and Kat... Sam's phone begins ringing as she is fishing but she doesn't recognize the number. Meanwhile, Diana is talking and Sam feels her line connect with something. Using her TK, she begins pulling whatever it is out of the water and it is only a few seconds before she pulls up a mechanical octopus from the water! It's tentacles are thrashing and one lashes up at her but glances from her personal shield. Kat concentrated next to Scott and he feels a surge of power course through him and his power flares. "Can you portal that thing out of here Scott?" Kat suggested. Vielle... Vi's father was on the edge of the spray and was getting soaked as he struggled to his feet again, although it was likely protecting him somewhat from the fire. He slips in the wet grass and goes down again. Lashing out before the charging fire creature can, Vi's hand passes through it and only slows for a moment. She barely feels the flames as her hand connects with something vaguely solid. The flame creature stops in its tracks and dwindles down to a small point that just blinked out of existence. |

Vielle sneers at the disappearing fire, "Pathetic..." she turns and gives a followup sneer at her old man before stalking by him and up the stairs, "Go back to sleep old man before you get yourself in trouble." She moves quickly into the house, towards the back where her room sat and snagged her jacket... she was going out... Fire creatures were attacking her neighborhood, and she wanted to get to the bottom of it... That meant finding another one and following it back home... assuming she didn't accidentally kill it... or whatever she had done... again.
__________________She goes back outside after she had a jacket on, and glances at her dad, "I'm going out. Seeing where the fire trucks are at this point... Hopefully that busted fire hydrant will keep the house from catching fire." She looks over her shoulder back at her dad as she steps into the sidewalk, searching for any other flaming humanoids that she might be able to track back to their lair. Her first goal? Start asking the neighbors, who were no doubt panicking, and try to pinpoint where exactly the firebugs had come from... Hopefully this wouldn't take as long as she thought it would... "This is getting dangerous," Jake grumbled to himself upon seeing the little fire monster and the way the neighbors had overrun the emergency response people. Seeing his mom take off like she did, Jake's first instinct was to go after her to make sure she was safe. He had already lost one parent. He didn't want to lose another. "Go after her!" he shouted Ray, "I'll be right behind you in a minute. Try to get to one of the shelters."
He really did want to chase after his mom, but something had to be done about all the chaos happening around him. Once Ray had gone, Jake turned his attention to the rioting crowd. As much as he would have liked to go after the little flame creature, if these people continued to hurt the ones trying to help things would only get worse. The teen rushed over toward the fighting just as a fire hose got loose and started flailing around like a psychotic snake dancing to the music of a charmer. Both firefighters and regular people were being knocked down by the sheer force of the hose. If it continued, people were bound to get hurt even worse. Jake hesitated for a moment. With his power he could probably get close enough to the hose to snatch it and maybe even redirect it at the fire creature heading for his home. However, he risked exposing his abilities to the world if he did so and that could lead to even more problems. Especially since people seemed to be out for blood. Whether that blood was justified or not didn't seem to matter. Jake readied himself in a sprint stance and watched the hose closely hoping to discern a little bit of pattern to it's movements before charging in. His breathing was quick and intense while his eyes remained unblinking. "Now!" he said to himself as he rushed in and Using Accurate Attack to increase the grab attack by +5 Dice Grab Hose:

Diana's moment of surprise and satisfaction disappeared like cold water splashed over her under the tone of Matt's fearful statement. How did he follow me? How did he know I did anything? I thought no one could see me do that?! The fear in his face and voice felt like a hard punch to the gut as it played off of the fear that she harbored over telling her parents that she had super abilities. She had thought Matt would be jealous, not afraid of her!
__________________Too late, Diana realized that he was running back to where her neighbors stood. If they were all panicking in the same way Molly was, would they turn on her? Would her parents turn on her, want to kill her? Her voice trembled as she opened the mic on her phone again. "Guys, I just disrupted a bunch of the little fire things, but there's a roaring thing over where my house is. I'm going to go see what happened. Um...Matt just saw me and ran away screaming for help. Against me. I don't know if he's going to get back to my parents before I do...but if my neighbors..." She trailed off, unsure of what else to add. "Hurry with the water, okay?" |

The feeling Kat's boost gave him was indescribable, but it seemed like his body shouodn't be able to hold this much power at any one time. He held his hand up above his head, needing Sam for what he was about to try. "Red, I need you to give me a lift, I'm taking that octopus into space. Fly right at me and catch my hand, I'll take it from there. Just make sure you can pass along some oxygen to me..." Scott smiled at Kat and gently pushed her away from him. "Sis, I need you to stay clear of me okay? I don't want to risk that thing grabbing onto you at the last second." Scott looked at Sam, his arm still outstretched above his head, waiting.

"Share oxygen? Am I going to like this...?" Sam didn't wait for an answer and let her line extend so she and Scott would hopefully be outside of the mechanical Octopus's range. She flew over and grabbed his hand as he asked, the moment they were touching Sam extended her shield around him. As she had discovered at the bottom of Scott's lake, she could share her shield and the protection it provided.

Joseph grinned at the paramedic as she snapped his waistband, ignoring Alex's grumbling in the back of his head as he waited for Sam to pick up. Finally it went to voicemail and Joseph just put down the phone before handing it back to the paramedic. "Thank you very much for your help and your offer, but thankfully I'm as fit as a fiddle right now. Stay safe, alright."
__________________He punctuated it with a light stroke of her cheek before he hopped the fence and headed down the street - if he couldn't get hold of Sam or anyone else, they'd go to the backup plan, which was save anyone else who needed it. Since it seemed the fire department was finally getting into gear, Joseph looked out for the fires more like the blaze he had just put out, or punched out, rather. |

Jess continues what she is doing, drawing the clouds to her by creating the opposite charge to them to bring them closer to the city. Since her powers manifested she has been doing a little reading after they refused to go away but it was only in the last few days that she accepted that she might actually have super powers. She wasn't exactly happy about it but if there was nothing she could do about them, then she might as well accept them.

Diana...
"I hear you D...Dragon." Kat's voice replies over the communicator. "Red and Aftershock are taking care of a giant mechanical octopus in the reservoir and then the water should be headed your way. Any of this seem a little weird to you? Fire creatures burning down the entire city? Mechanical octopus? It just seems...very strange." Watching Matt run, Diana saw him passing some of her neighbors, still screaming about Diana having super powers. The neighbors all turned to look in her direction and she could see their eyes glowing red with the light of the burning houses reflected in them...unless they were glowing from within. "It's her fault! She did this!" They began screaming in anger at Diana. Sam, Scott and Kat... Sam and Scott could hear Kat on the communicator talking to Diana but they were too busy with the giant mechanical octopus to comment. Sam grabbed Scott's hand and a moment later the two of them were somewhere in outer space, the octopus suspended beneath them. The next moment they were back at the reservoir but both of them found what they saw to be strange. To Sam, who had been in space before and had seen the distant stars and galaxies, what she saw when Scott teleported them reminded her of something else. Even Scott thought the space and stars he had just seen were odd. Jake, Joseph and Vielle... Jake almost paid for his attempt to grab the hose but it whipped in the other direction and instead smashed into a downed fire fighter for the second time, making him crumple into a ball. As he recovered from his attempt, he spots the little fire creature and several others going after his house and the one next to it. Jake also spots a man who is literally only wearing his boxers come between two other houses. Joseph spotted several of the fire creatures streaking past some burning houses and gave chase. After several blocks, he comes across a scene of pure pandemonium. Several of the fire creatures are rushing two houses that are not burning but across the street, firefighters and other emergency personnel are fighting common citizens. A fire house with water shooting out the end and unattended is whipping back and forth and smashing everyone nearby. A rather attractive girl is running down the street from Joseph's right and he recognizes Vielle from school. Vielle's neighbors had run off but she could see the flashing lights of fire trucks a few blocks away. She makes good time as she runs over to them, neither human nor fire creature trying to stop her. The scene is absolute chaos as two houses are being set ablaze by fire creatures, a tall and powerfully built man wearing only his boxers is coming out from between two other houses, and the common citizens are fighting the emergency crews, all while being smashed by an out-of-control fire hose. Among the people fighting, Vielle recognizes Jake from school and sees his attempt to grab the hose. Jess... The clouds that Jess is gathering around her turn red and purple lightning flickers among them. A small bolt from two different clouds arc out toward one another and meet halfway between the clouds. Instead of cancelling one another or exploding, they feed one another and then it discharges directly at Jess! She is struck by the violent burst of lightning |

Vielle growls, more fire things... And Jake... and some guy in boxers, what... did he just run out of his house when it caught fire? Whatever, didn't matter... right now, she needed information... and there had been a distinct LACK of that information in the last few minutes. Maybe some of these people could help, but first... there were firebugs to deal with.
__________________She ignored Jake and... Boxerboy, and turned toward the firebugs, "HEY! Soot for brains! Yeah, that's right... I'm talkin' to you... Why don't you see if you can burn ME?" She screeches, scowling angrily at her new targets... The fire things proooobably weren't heading back home anytime soon... Unless she could damage them just enough to get them to retreat... So fighting them wasn't the worst idea ever as long as she could avoid extinguishing them as soon as she touched them. Goodness knew she didn't care about the people... but she also didn't want anyone putting out those firebugs before she could chase 'em back home. So she rushed over to where the firehose was attached to the truck itself, swiping at the base, in hopes that she would cut right through it, not only totally removing all traces of water pressure, but also keeping that hose from hitting anyone else and causing any more damage... Dice Attacking the base of the firehose... should be immobile, right?:
So the hose takes 8 toughness drain... And another 8 toughness drain from my draining aura... and then saves vs a DC 23 Toughness save... Last edited by Hawkerra; 06-12-2012 at 10:55 PM. |

"Mechanical octopus...?" Diana thought, finally getting control of her fear in time to see fifty of her neighbors turn to look at her with glowing eyes. Now that Kat said it, the situation was a bit strange. There was no way Matt would have connected her power use with her. Her mother didn't panic the way she was this evening, and the entire group should have had more warning than having the entire city suddenly up in flames for no apparent reason. Almost as if the group had been thrust into a catastrophic situation...much like Sil and the aliens...
__________________"I don't suppose anyone saw Sil and her VR headset, did they?" Diana asked, feeling her heartbeat calming down immediately. If this situation was a set up condition, then Diana's family wasn't actually about to turn on her. This was just a test situation. If this was Sil's doing, she's going to receive a punch in the face. "I'm going to be real bitchy if this is her fault." As of yet, she still hadn't come up with any ideas on how to avoid her neighbors attacking her, or any ideas of what the "K-Maru thingie" was all about. Obviously, the city was being attacked, obviously, the non-super powered people were out for their blood as complications...she wasn't sure what the mechanical octopus was about, but there were options now. "Anyone know what the "win" situation is yet, besides the fire elementals?" As her neighbors kept growling at her, she moved into a defensive stance, not wanting to leave in case there was something else in the area, but not wanting to attack her neighbors, computer constructs or not. Just in case, she opened a dimensional "save" point in the street, in case she had to suddenly retreat and then return. Last edited by FoggyKnight; 06-13-2012 at 09:28 PM. |

Jess screams as the lightning leaps out at her, desperately trying to avoid it, block it or whatever else she can do to keep from getting charred.

Isn't that the girl...?
__________________Yes, that's her. More importantly, why the hell is she trying to sabotage the fire truck? Shaking his head, Joseph ducked past the swinging firehose and grabbed Vi by the shoulder. "Exactly what do you think you're doing, miss?" |

Scott looked at Sam with a perplexed expression, wondering if she was thinking the same thing he was after going into space. "That didn't seem right for some reason..." He shrugged and moved back over to stand in front of the lake, opening up a massive portal beneath the water, with the other portal opening up the town. "Go save the day, Red." Giving Sam his best winning smile, he nodded in the direction of the portal as if to say "fly on through to the other side". Last edited by Cygnus; 06-13-2012 at 09:50 PM. |

Jake furrowed his brow in frustration seeing the hose fall limp on the ground. The fire truck was now just spraying it's contents out onto the ground. Sure there was still plenty of pressure, but nothing like it would have had if it was still traveling through the hose. Not to mention, the water now had no direction to it. It just sprayed outward onto the street. Standing there beside the hose was that Vielle girl who always seemed to have some kind of attitude problem. Now she was going to have an even bigger problem considering how upset Jake was with her right now. What the hell was she thinking anyway? All she had to do was shut the damn truck off if she wanted to get the hose back under control. She didn't have to destroy it. How did she destroy it anyway? Probably had a knife or something.
Jake strode toward her with daggers in his eyes when some guy wearing next to nothing started talking to her. Not that Jake was going to let that stop him. "I'll tell you what she's doing. She's ruining any chance I might have had to save my house!" Jake angrily said as he walked over and shut off the pump for the water and began looking for another hose, "Why would you do something so stupid? What are you having too much fun watching the city burn or something? What's wrong with you? You know what? Forget it. Just try to stay out of the way before you screw something else up." Jake grabbed one of the other hoses and pulled it off the truck letting it fall to the ground in a heap as he grabbed an end of it and began to try to attach it to the truck. |
