Realizing that there's no way Thrann is going to be reasonable and back down, Nym decides that the only way for the minotaur to survive is by helping him bring down the bear. Also noticing that as of yet, neither Thrann nor the bear has moved, Nym takes a different course of action, dropping his shot and instead rummaging through his pack. He withdraws a flask filled with an odd liquid that feels warm to the touch. Slinging his pack over his shoulder and clutching the flask, he scurries over towards the breakdown of rock, and begins to scramble his way up. This way he can have a clear path, instead of constantly having to worry about firing past his teammates.

Danys finishes casting his spell and the golden shield of translucent light floats defensively in front of Danys. Nym grabs the flask from his pack and scrambles up onto the top of the first fallen boulder.

Thrann quaffs a potion. A dim glow of white light pokes through his wounds as some of the cuts and gashes close completely and others begin the healing process.
The initiative is listed just a few posts back. We're waiting on Sierr and Ozly. |

Sierr loads his crossbow with a bolt and quickly takes aim, one eye held shut and the other squinting past Thrann and Danys at the bear. He pulls the trigger and releases the bolt. It flies over Thrann's shoulder and hits the boulder next to the bear. [swing and a miss]
Ozly pulls out his rapier and quickly thrusts at the bear's chest. With grace and skill, Ozly spears the bear in the heart with the tip of his sword. [critical hit for 12 points damage] The bear roars with extreme pain and Ozly suddenly realizes that he's standing mere feet from a VERY pissed off bear. Maybe that wasn't such a good plan. The large animal attacks Ozly with everything it's got. Two claws grasp at Ozly, attempting to pull him in. Both claws miss their target, causing the bear to fall forward and push the rapier completely into the bear's body. This brings the bear's head close enough to Ozly to take a bite at his neck ... with devastating effect. The bear rips out Ozly's throat completely, leaving a gaping hole under his jaw. The swashbuckler falls over backwards. Ozly's head knocks over his lantern as he hits the ground. [The bear gets a critical miss, a normal miss, and a critical hit. Yeah, I know, my dice are being entertaining today. I thought Ozly would live a little longer but I guess not.] Initiative is the same. Danys finishes the current round then Nym starts the next round. The passage to the bear is only 5 feet wide. One person can pass another (slowing you down) as long as the person your passing allows you past. I'm going to assume that Thrann will not let anyone past him and get in his way, but he can correct me if I'm wrong. Nym, you have a clear view of the bear from where you are. |

Nym cringes at the gruesome scene set before him. Suddenly realizing the reality of everything, he stays as far back as possible on top of the boulder. The bear is still able to get to him, but not without some difficulty. Nym brings his arm back, pausing as the bear's attention shifts towards him. He then whips his arm forward, hurling the flask towards its massive chest.

damage for direct hit Dice Roll:
if its a direct hit, next round the bear must take a full round action to extinguish the flames (DC 15) or take an additional 1d6 fire damage. If it's not a direct hit, but lands within 5 feet, the bear takes only 1 dmg. |

Thrann does not let Danys past him. He gives the human a snort and a cold stare for even trying. Danys resorts to pulling out his bow and taking aim at the bear from a distance. Even though the bear is at a disadvantage, Danys' arrow barely scrapes the bear's hide enough to make a scratch.
Nym flings a flask of combustible liquid at the raging behommoth. The flask skims the back of the animal just enough to cause it to burst open. The explosion is not great enough to do much inital damange but the bear's short brown fur is now ablaze with fire. It roars with surprise. Fire is probably not much of an issue in a rocky cave and the bear seems unsure of what to do next. Thrann and Sierr |

Sierr, with a sharp shout and a quick gesture, unleashes a burst of shimmering, fluctuating energy from his palms. It flies between the heads of all those around the beast and infallibly sears the flesh of its target.

Taking advantage of the bear's momentary state of confusion and fear, the minotaur warrior surged forward and laid fully into the feral creature. Letting out a loud bellow, the half-bull behemoth struck out again and again with its greataxe at the flaming ursan, and then reared back and plowed forward with its horns, attempting to impale the bear against the cave wall!
5 foot step toward the bear, then making a full attack: one attack with my greataxe, then an iterative natural attack with my horns. Power Attack +2. Attack Roll: Greataxe, Attack Roll: Gore. Power Attack +2. Dice Roll:

Realising that firing into the melee is as likely to hit the minotaur as it is the bear, I pause for a moment, considering whether that is a bad thing
It is entirely that bull headed idiots fault that Ozly is dead. However, I sigh, sling my bow, pick up my sword, and get ready to either smack the bear, should the silly moo fall, or rush to Ozly to a) See if he can be cured b) ransack his body for items. Waste not, want not |

Thrann attacks the bear with a viciousness that would normally be attributed to a starving pack of hell hounds. His powerful axe slices through the bear like a knife through butter. Blood and internal organs spill through the wound as the bear collapses heroicly to the ground in a blaze of glory. The light from the bear's burning carcass adds to Ozly's lamplight to show a passage heading to the right and a couple of smaller tunnels stretching away from your direction. Danys rushes past the dead bear to check on Ozly. Finding the little guy sufficiently dead, he pillages the body for anything useful.
Combat is over. I will post more later today. Ozly's character sheet, for plundering, can be found at http://www.rpgcrossing.com/view.php?id=7984 |
