The ball drops from your hand and starts to roll around some. Then leaving one end it starts to unwind itself. It travels in a circle around the summoning portal and near some barrels. You have used this item twice, once to find zef and now to find larkin. It is such a simple device really but there is a part of you that is curious just how something like this works.

Just then you hear Kess murmmer, 'Kaladorian ball' Grayfare asks what that is and Kess, looks at him and smiles, 'The people of Kalador were powerful in the art and literally weaved their magic into cloth itself..' the ball heads out the door and you give a quick look to Kess and his history lesson, Kess nods, 'another time then Grayfare' he says as he takes a wand from his hand and the wand shifts into a staff of ebony.

You take hold of the end of the ball of twine and tie the ethereal cord around your wrist as you head to the door. You have, you realize, quite the skill set of people with you and you start to think of how best to use them. As your thinking you see the group starts to form an almost natural defensive rank, mages in the middle, clerics to the side, the fighters up next to you and the paladins taking up flanking positions.

You go through the first room..drawers and some barrels. Another store room you think although you're sure the drawers hold ingredients used in the last room. You pause at the door and hear some walking. You pause for a moment hoping whoever is there will leave. More traffic..you sniff and can smell food cooking..a kitchen someplace..this hall way is going to have a good amount of traffic all day depending on the size of the force down here. You hesitate for a moment thinking perhaps you could wait till a lull.. your heart beats and you realize every second you wait is another second the necromancer has to figure out the other artifacts. You shake your head and burst through the door with your weapon ready and are met by five very surprised zealots'.

OOCSurprise round for you. Zealot three is walking to the kitchen area (north west door) Zealot 4 is walking to the south west. Zealot 1, 2, and the caster were walking to the kitchen as well.

Nice to know where they were walking, but I have a feeling they are about to change direction. I'd like to shove my way past them, to get out of the doorway, but that is a bull rush action and I'd rather use my time for dealing damage.

I am impressed with Kess's knowledge, but say nothing. I simply gather up the thread and follow it.

Without preamble, I burst through the door. With a quick turn of my head to the right, I breathe a line of sticky acid goo all over Zealot 2 and 3 and the caster in between. Then, in the same heartbeat, I turn to my left and cut Keryvain down the back of Zealot 1.

Addendum...
------------

Seeing the stupified expression of the zealots I ready another attack. If Zealot1 falls, I'll rush Zealot #4. If Zealot 1 still stands, I'll bull rush him in an attempt to drive him back away from the door and I'll follow with a 5' step so the others can enter.

(bull rushing provokes)
Dice Roll:
1d20+15 (2)+15 Total = 17

If he's down already here is my attack vs #4 Attack, damage, extra evil damage.
Dice Roll:
1d20+16 (3)+16 Total = 19
1d10+9 (6)+9 Total = 15
2d6 5, 4 Total = 9

Gathering the situation you quickly turn your head to the right and blast a line of acid all over the zealots to the north. Their screams echo through the hallways as their flesh burns. Without missing a beat you make a series of attacks at zealot 1. Your first attack staggers the zealot and your second attack hurts him considerably yet he is not down. He starts to ready for his weapon and you swear and then rush into him. He tries to move to the side and manages to stick you with a dagger but 8 points of damage but you manage to push him into the corner. You hear the others rush in. Zealot 4 rushes forward, opens the door and starts to move through it.

You hear mark at your back and the sound of a Boom with the crackle of lightning. Curses from the other room. You glance back and see the caster preparing another spell. Zealot 3 is successfully keeping William from pressing forward and mark is attacking zelot 2.

ooc - what was my HP at when I woke up and we started this section? Also, did you remember my breath was entangling?
----------

I am impressed with the Zelot's toughness as I strike him hard a few times and he even manages to deal me what would be a lethal blow to a commoner. I need to get to Zealot 4, but this surprisingly tough guy is in my way. I try to hit him at least once, trying to hack my way past so I can get out toward the kitchen.

-------
Not sure if I can do this by the rules or not, but I want to attack Zealot 1 once, and if he goes down, I want to move toward zealot 4. If he does not go down, I want to go ahead and just use the full attack action and get my 2nd attack. I'm not sure if I have to declare that up front, and if he goes down on hit one, hit two is just wasted. Whatever you rule man.

Dice Roll:
1d20+16 (10)+16 Total = 26
1d10+9 (4)+9 Total = 13
2d6 6, 2 Total = 8

If a 2nd attack is needed
Dice Roll:
1d20+11 (7)+11 Total = 18
1d10+9 (6)+9 Total = 15
2d6 5, 1 Total = 6

oocYour HP was at full and yes i remembered your entangling breath and took it into account when the guys moved, attacked, and casted. One of the problems I have with d&d spells is that they do not level well and start to lose their effectiveness at higher levels. Whatcha going to do though eh?

also..you have two standard actions a round so you can attack and move or you can attack up to all your attacks that round..3 or so in your case i think. Might check on that but i am pretty sure its legit

You strike the zealot again he raises his weapon to block but you push right through it and cut deep into his chest. Blood gurgles out of his mouth and his eyes glaze over as he slips off your blade to the stone floor.

You quickly turn and look where zealot 4 went and see the door swinging shut. With a powerful burst from your wings you sprint that direction intent in taking this foe out before its to late. You burst through the door and see the zealot trying to open the next door, the fear on his face is palpable. You quickly glance back at the battle raging to the north then charge forward weapon raised to strike the Zealot!

ooc - I get two attacks if I take the full attack action.
------------

Keenly aware that I have enemies at my back, I do my best to focus on my fleeing target. I didn't expect our element of surprise to last long, but if I can hold onto it just a bit, it is worth trying. I stab at the Zealot and then do a quick thrust at the back of his knees in an effort to knock him down.

mechanics
First attack
Dice atk and damage and bonus damage:
1d20+16 (10)+16 Total = 26
1d10+9 (6)+9 Total = 15
2d6 1, 4 Total = 5

Second attack (a trip attack) Due to my feats, he provokes if I trip him. I'll roll for that AoO on the off chance I do trip him.
Dice trip:
1d20+15 (20)+15 Total = 35
Dice AoO from trip:
1d20+16 (6)+16 Total = 22
1d10+9 (10)+9 Total = 19
2d6 2, 3 Total = 5

The zealot quickly works the handle of the door as you raise the great blade above your head to strike. You strike first across the back, the zealot howls in pain. Your second trips him and he falls. As he does you hear a click, a trap you think and then you see the door being propelled by the falling zealots weight open. You quickly strike at the zealot as he falls into the next room. This time however you hear the words, 'Master...' from his lips in lew of screams.

Looking at the zealot you follow his gaze into the room.

Around a rough honed stone table on which lies a map sit 8 figures. Seven of the eight are dressed as you have seen monks dress although some appear to be more covered than others and one seems to even halve a makeshift robe she is wearing. One however is dressed in white robes lined with a red sash holds himself differently than the other monks. And only one of the eight, a hunched over wizen figure in a cloak with hollow emaciated cheeks, appears to be undead. Upon the opining of the door they all turn their heads to look first at their dying disciple and then at you.

The undead creature looks at you with long dead eyes and smiles a crooked smile, 'Interesting.' It says in the voice of the necromancer. 'Barius, be a dear and go alert the others' she says. The monk in white and red robes rises, nods to his master, and walks calmly to the door on the far side of the room. 'And if the rest of you would deal with our guest' the necromancer says in a tone that does not make you feel as if you're going to be well treated.

The first monk stands and clenches her fist. The second monk grabs a staff with silver bands running up its length. The third monk lets drop the ends of a thin silver chain which is weighted with a claw and a stone. The forth monk picks up two blades with red sashes attached to them. The fifth monk stands and holds a staff which glows at the tip. The sixth monk clenches his fist and as he does phantom blades of purple and black extends from his fists. They all start to move at you in unison, two of them spring over the table and all the while the necromancer simply watches with a smile.

All at once you feel very far away from the rest of your team.

I step back, pulling the door with me. I then run as fast as I can back to the main group. I use my wings to glide a bit even, but stop to shut the doors behind me, locking them if possible. "Found the hornet's nest. Necromancer wasn't alone."

I step in, ready to attack a zealot before the pursuing force arrives. I have a sinking feeling that the necromancer will just puff away, and I'll never be able to get this close again. I chuckle inwardly a bit. Maybe the artifacts are safer with her anyway. She doesn't have them all, she can't unmake the world. If I die here, there are worse places to abandon the Dragon's eye pieces.

oocSo technically you cant close the door since the body is in the way. As i dont really feel like causing the game to stall ill just just story tell some actions really fast

You quickly grab the door and pull it in an instinctive attempt to distance yourself from the people after you. Upon pulling though you realize the body of the zealot is in the way of the door. The monk with the chain lashes it out and strikes you for 13 points of damage in the hand, you swear and recoil it away from the door. In an instant you are an animal existing only on instinct and the desire to stay alive. You open your mouth and gout of flame erupts forward at the monks and In that instant of confusion you sprint as fast as you can for the door on the other end. You hear the sound of the monks close behind you but you dare not look back. Reaching at your back you grab your chain weapon and as you pass the door you use the curved blade to hook into the door and shut it behind you. You pull the chain tightly with all your might and yell back at the others.

The two zealots here are dead and Kess and grayfare are trading spells with the caster while kyle advances with his full shield and sword. The others appear to have been just about to come find you and are relieved to see you. Mark, WIllaim, and you pull the chain hard to keep the door from opening when all the sudden you start to feel the chain grow hotter. The bastards you think..heating this good metal...it will ruin the edge!

ooc - I forgot to include this link in my PM to you. It is the D20 modern Rules. We are using the future part of d20 modern quite a bit. I think the tech level is 8.
--------

I hold the door until my chain begins to get hot. I take it personally, an attack against my weapon. You can strike me and I know you want me dead; strike my weapon and that's just insulting. Feeling safer, now that I'm not outnumberd 8 to 1, I suddenly release my pull on my chain, instead pushing the door hard. I jerk the chain free as I do this, hoping to knock whoever is pulling on the door backward, maybe even catching them with my chain as they fall.

My chain seems shorter somehow, but I chalk it up to having not used it lately, (not to pathfinder rules gimping it *grumble grumble*). I strike out at the first opponent I see.

Dice Attack and damage1:
1d20+19 (15)+19 Total = 34
2d4+11 (1, 3)+11 Total = 15

Dice Attack and damage 2:
1d20+14 (11)+14 Total = 25
2d4+11 (1, 2)+11 Total = 14

oocYes the dragon there might be foreshadowing but you are playing a game that has dragons as a bit of a center point

Your weapons starts to get red hot an then white, you curse and drop it while kicking open the door in the hopes of knocking anyone back. The door bursts open, your weapon in hand you look for any opponent close by.

What you see is the six monks waiting. All the monks stand an appropriate distance from the door and stand with the poise of seasoned fighters. This is to say they are calmly waiting for you. You surmise from this that the other route to the north though the kitchen area must be a dead end.

With a blinding speed monk 4 advances on you and with a flurry of movements strikes you several times with a weapon consisting of two pieces of wood held together by bands of metal and chain. The sound of the metal tipped weapons seems to resound with each blow off your armor and although some of the blows go unfelt there are yet others that cause more pain that you expected they would. (22 damage)

You strike back with your weapon and hit the monk soundly although he seems able to shrug off much of the damage and during your next attack he simply moves out of the way, although you notice you did manage to cut off a portion of a sash that is tied around his belt.

At this moment monk 3 whips his chain blade weapon around and strikes at you once with the weighted ball in the face (8 damage). The sting momentarily distracts you and he sends in his blade. It strike's you around the leg and with a quick jerk he pulls you from the ground and onto your back with a loud crash.

Monk 4 smiles and wipes some blood from his face. The other monks start moving into positions to attack. You hear the sound of the caster's death and from your now prone position see others trying to figure a way past you into the fray.
