She'll keep it looking natural, but thick in places needed to hide it well or mislead. She'll try to use the lay of the land, the native plants, and natural patterns to help blend it in well from all directions, land and air. If the ivy is breaking up the keep's stone, she'll fix that, but keep the ivy. Maybe use a mesh or some trick to alow it to grow without harming the keep. She'll also go off wondering, collecting herbs and helpfull plants to seed the place so they can have tubers and fruit and things. She'll plan it for a long term, so some of the nut trees or fruit trees may take many years before they produce. But the potatoes, honey bee's honey, and berries and things should be ready by the following year. She'll also chart the paths too and from the keep, and try to make those trails less noticable by the same plant minipulation. Bending the tree branches to hide it from the air, moving rocks to help keep the tracks to a mininum, (rocky ground). She'll do things like attract hornets to build a nest where the unknowing might disturb it by following the wrong trail or not ducking when they should. She'll also listen to the music of the forest here, get to know it's sound so she'll be able to recgonize the alarm sounds should someone unknown enter. As for the keep itself, I'm not so sure. If Tau knows how to make it more defencable, he will. He'll set up the magic anvil int he forge and do what he can with a limited budget to get the forge operational. Gwen can help rot away the old timbers and whatnot using her magic. She'll use this rotted wood and things as fill for her landscaping. Jet...er..Tau, will ask Larkin if he can make wind chimes that can be hung in the trees around the keep that are hard to see, but let out a creepy moan when the wind blows. Like a faint ghost noise, to spook away unwanted guests? Their best defence is secrecy, so they'll do what they can themselves. Tau will get to know the faces of all who are helping him, and keep track of who goes where. The secrecy of this keep wont last long, but the longer it lasts, the more time they have to bolster its defences. If Grayfare can set any magical traps, he's encouraged to do so as long as the good guys know how to bypass them. Also, if Larkin can, Tau wants fake documents made up stating that he, Tau, is the rightfull owner of the keep, showing clear deeds or whatever is needed. Hopefuly, nobody will care to check, but he'd like papers to show just incase. Custom armor eh, that wasn't in the write up for dragonborn...Well, such are the pains of having wings I guess. Griffon barding would be a bit big he thinks. Maybe he'd better just go in and get fitted properly. Can he use a cloak and the cover of the early morning lack of light to act like a hunched over old nobody, or are the wings too huge for that? They need supplies anyway, rope and wood. He'll have to rent a cart too, or buy one. He'll buy one if he can afford it. Gwen can pull it as a horse. He also needs to ask around for honest craftmen, the kind who don't ask questions and don't discusess jobs. They shouldn't be looking for him looking like this, but he still doesn't want to stand out. So, he'll do what he can to hide his wings and face and ride Gwen-as-warhorse into neverwinter to check out this smith himself and do those other things. If the smith doesn't seem like the best, he'll go check out the griffon armorer later, as time alows. |

Ok..from the top.
Sorry i did not put room numbers, thought of it after i made the stuff and sent it and figured..eh.. Sooo...the rooms added onto circle 2, the northern room and sothern room that jet off from the circle..the top one is the forge room while the bottom one is connected to the elevator shaft... As for teleportation portals and what not...you have been through a few...you could always try to figure out how to bring those over...might cost some though.. The elevator system could be brought up to good working order for about 1438 gp...this would revamp pully systems to work with chain, chains, a more secure platform etc...Grayfare and larkin will start to work on a ghost chime system...total cost on it will be about 790gp per set of chimes (chimes are magic and will let out a haunting ghost sounds..) Plant growth is not hard, the fertilizer you got is great and works really well. There are some hominoid creatures in the hills and the area..most are tribal critters like bug bears or orcs or goblins who seem to have some pit mines in the crag area...there are other animal creatures arround though and the are not the best or most hospitible place to to be for the faint of heart or uninvited. Larkin suggest that you contact lucien of the explorers guild..he knows of what is going on and might beable to find the records..expecialy since they are probably in the waterdeep archives anyway Grayfare can set up some minor magic traps or he can buy some that will be a bit more powerful than he is capable of right now..would depend on what you want really.. also there is plently of rock if you wanted to extend rooms or what not. As for the custom armor, yeh the wings kinda add a kink in wearing non customed armor, Not a big kink but something to take into consideration. Your wings folded will almost touch the ground when you stand (they dont drag in the mud mind you)...all in all they are quite impresive. As for griffon barding..not quite the idea there..just people that know how to make armor for winged creatures.. As for time...you dont have all the time in the world but you have the feeling that you hve fallen off the radar for a little bit. Jet'al is gone...janis's people are not looking for, nor do they know that Tau exsists. ...yet..(now dont think you have all the time in the world either..you will eventaly be found out ...just you now have the advantage) You go into town, you are wearing crude robes cut in a combat style that allows quick movement. as you walk up to the gates you are detained for a moment and expect some trouble when a woman in full plate walks up to you, on her breast plate is the symbol of Tyr. 'I am Aribeth de Tylmarande paladin of Tyr' for a moment you expect trouble of some kind 'i welcome you to Neverwinter' you are let in and follow her through the gates of the city, she walks twords the temple district 'Im sorry for the guards detaining you but your visit was a bit unexpected, it is not often that a follower of the platinum one grace our fair city but when it does happen we do try to show our respect and gratitude' your taken aback a bit..your chin raises some as the old manarisims of jet'al are replaced..people look at you...oh they stare hard enough to cause you to feel odd...but you feel no hate, just respect...bahamuts words ring in your head from your previous conversation..A representitive of bahamut.. |

The chimes have to me magic? Why can't they just be mundain? Seems to me like it would be like a flute or something that larkin could widdle out of swamp reads and when the wind blows, they make a low moaning sound. Magic ghost sound seems overly expensive to me. I saw the idea in a movie, like robin hood or something. They just hung pipes in the trees, cheap and effective. And that is the name of the game now, cheap and effective. But if that's the only way Larkin can make that, then we'll just make one, and place it around where one might pick up the trail leading to the keep. (not visualizing the access road/trail very well).
__________________As for adding rooms, I'd love to add a 2nd wall, or secret study, but I don't have the time or money at the moment. If this keep lasts for a while, maybe, but Tau isn't going to spend everything he has fixing it up when Janis will probably just send a dragon in to raise it anyway. I'll get the stuff to fix the elevator. The stuff to build the ghost pipes, (or pipe as the case ma be). As for the armor...(just looked at my map, Griffons' nest is where you said I could get that griffon armor possibly)... Tau considers Griffon's Nest. He has armor from there that is quite nice, and now a smith tells Gwen that they are still actively making specialty armor to this day. He looks at his funds. It is more gold than he has ever hand in his life. But then he looks at his jotted notes and expenses, both for the keep as well as what he's had to spend so far, and his pile of gold doesn't look so big. Who funds these evil people? He sighs. He'll go into town to get the needed equipment and speak with the smith about the Griffon's Nest who to ask for should he go there. He wanted to go there when they started out, and the idea of some good armor appeals to him. They may have materials suited for flight. The response in town was one he wanted to avoid, but he's glad it isn't hostile. He does his best to be gracious and polite when people stair at him. Better get used to standing out in a crowd he thinks. He knows this respite from pursuit is temporary. Had they all transformed, perhaps, but even in disguise they had been tracked. There are just too many spies around, she is very well connected it seems. He wonders how somebody like her can gather such a strong following. She could be a danger to the King if she wanted. How many more are like her; minions spread across the land, secret networks of warriors? Then he wonders about the good guys. Are there the same networks? The Royal Explorers seem to be a bit like that. That reminds him. He'll return to the guild hall, say he had hoped to find Lucien there, and could he get a message to the old elf. He'll just say he's an old friend, but not go into details. At first, he wanted to just come clean about who he was, but if the Royal Explores have a bad egg among them, he didn't want to tip his hand to them. The letter will say, I wanted to know if you could locate documents that could be used to show proper ownership of the project Torm discussed? If so, could you have them delivered to the R.E. guild in Neverwinter addressed to your friend Larkin? Look for a recent publication of a place you recently visited. I have news of him, but it is of a private nature, not something to be sent in a letter. You may want to look at chapter 7 of the Treaties of the Knights of Ohr Your friend, Tau. That chapter refers to some obscure battles and tactics, but it also has a brief description of the aid of a dragonborn of Bahamut, though it doesn't go into much detail. He'll seal the letter and send it off, hoping he can trust the guild members. Anyone with half a brain could glean much from it, but he needs the guld's help, and until he can become re-admited as Tau, he can't risk it. He can't be tied to Jet in any way if he's to maintain his new advantage of ananimity. It would be good if he could generate false reports of Jet popping up in other locations, to keep eyes away from him. How could he manage that? If only he could trust the guild more, they could spread such rumors. He could uses a spy in her network. He'll talk to Torm about that, maybe he knows a way to do that. - So my thought is, We'll work on the keep for a bit, but without too much delay, head out to Griffon's nest. ok...
Larkin is able to make some sound making devices that indeed do produce low sounds that could be thought of as being moans or shispers. Most of them are crafted from large trees that have been hollowed and placed with a cap in such a way that they act like some sort of instrument. (thinking sounds like blowing across a soda top..just lower..) you dont think they will fool anyone who is to smart..or an intelegent person for long..but there a good start.. Also,,..as for aribeth...you have not met her yet..sorry ...i had written a big plot thing ...you show up at town..can you help us..etc...and did not like it so i deleted it..forgot about her though...you were let right away into the town but still got stares and what not... Ok you send of fyour letter and hope for the best...you figure it should be a few days befor you hear anything back. .... you spend a few days working on the keep and getting some of it up and running. You head back to the town and to the post office wher eindeed you do have a letter. It is From the royal explorers guild: (read note) ...... Upon a cursory glance your not sure what to make of the letter from the guild... the other are making a good headway on the keep, within a week you are able to get some supplies together from neverwinter to help repair it. ________________________ well kindof work the keep this way..you tell me how much money you put into it and that much will get fixed. There is a amount that will fix the entire keep up but i will assume if you say Room X is Tau's and i spend $XYZ to furnish it you might get better basic stuff in that room. You are free to outfit what you want the rooms to look like as far as stuff in them, where the kitchen is..etc..Kinda want you to have some ownership of it which is why i did not give you really any constraints. Its easy enough if you want to add doors or even close up a gap if you want a placement to be in a diffrent place. Specilitie items might cost more and what not...your also welcome to put together a team to go retrive stuff from places...ie...set some adventurer types out to the marshes to get your tile floor..or whatever...anyway lots of freedom ______________________ Work is going slowly on the keep but you are happy with it, its nice to have a home for once...you can feel in the air that things are in motion though...janis is probably pulling her hair out searching for jet'al...it wont be long before her hunters show up in neverwinter... One morning you decided tha tyou need some better armor, you have studdied the map and see that its should only be less than a weeks travel by air and a few weeks travel by land..you opt to fly...you take to the air in the morning, taking only what you need for the long flight..as the first rays of the sun move over the ground you launch yourself off the cliff and into the air... the thermals carry you high into the sky and you find your getting better at feeling the air and staying aloft longer. Your wings still ache some but you know that they will ultimently become stronger and possibly faster as you use them...it takes you about 2 days before you see the hills that are identified as the griffons keep...you fly twords them with a thrill.. as you get closer you can see a large castle situated in the mountians in the distance..its white alabaster surface reflects the sun in such a way to make it almost a beacon from the air..you fly in closer, it soon grows a bit chilly as a shadow passes over you, you turn your head to see a magnificent griffon above and slightly behind you, it regards you and tilts its wings. you look arround and see 2 more close by..in formation they fly past you and dive to the ground, it is only now that you notice their riders, doned in a familiar griffon armor and carring large spears..they keep formation up to the castle and then two of them break off, your flowling the first and middle most griffon rider as he lands...you land close behind, you strethc your wings and them fold them to a resting postion...the rider dismounts and comes twords you removing his helmet. 'I am Captain Rennis' says the large bearded man with his hand out stretched 'Welcome stranger to griffon keep,' he looks at his griffon ' i must take care of Bartlebe first but my squire will take you to a resting area if you are tired from your flight.' you go with his squre and rest a bit, the keep is high in the mountains and the air is crips..it is not long that you are lost in day dreams befor CaptainRennis comes in, hes out of his armor and in lighter cloths..some sort of silk perhapse.. 'It has been a long time since a Child of Bahamut has walked these halls, long enough indeed that it is spoken almost as a story than a fact,' he nods his head behind you wher eyou see some chldren gawking at you from behind a pillar..he smiles 'Now then, im sure you did not come here for a relaxing time in the clouds, although you are welcome to stay if you need a break from your duties' Last edited by Gir; 02-03-2007 at 08:20 PM. |

After some more chatting and eating Captain Rennis takes you down to the blacksmith, he walks into the forge and you hear some raised voices and soon enough silence..the sound of a hammer being put down and the clomping of boots as they come arround the cornor...A large dwarf looks you up and down and with a smile says 'Ie, ill make you some armor whatcha looking for'
as your talking to the smith a page comes in..you hear parts of the conversation.. sir, the lord wishes to know about our guest, he is awaiting your report...tell him ill be there in a while ...but sir he was rather vocal on th..listen..i will talk to lord denris and give my report when my report is ready..do i make my self clear..um..sir.. Rennis glowers ...I apologize Tau..duty calls, ill leave you in the hands of fenrik and catch up with you in a moment.. he turns and leaves you with a unsettling feeling your your stomach... 'Now then, let me get those measurements..' (kinda a clifhanger there...not sure if you wanted to chat up fenrik or what not about your armor...Med and heavy armor is out due to your wing strength at the moment...unless you want to have to take your armor off to fly... ..but alot can still be done...You will need to pay for it although your feeling like you might get a nice discount...) |

- especally if I trade the magic hammer for it ya?
__________________Oh, and medium isn't out if it's mithral, that is treated as one catagory lighter. Also, should I gain the endurance feat, that may also do that. Not sure if it stacks. It might. It might be that with endurance, and mithral full plate, the armor is regarded as light. seems wrong though, but maybe. Last edited by Still_Pond; 02-04-2007 at 11:30 AM. |

Our chat today..
The Capp Daddy says: hey Shawn says: oi The Capp Daddy says: I have an hour or so The Capp Daddy says: you put my character in a tough position with these powerful artifacts The Capp Daddy says: he's not the safest place to keep them, but he found them, so he has some ownership in them, and responsibilty for them. If he turns them over to some dude, and then they go an make something nasty with it, it's kind of his fault. Shawn says: could be..hard to say The Capp Daddy says: Plus, he want's to be able to use them from time to time without paying for it. The Capp Daddy says: he is a smith after all The Capp Daddy says: but it would be like giving you the most state of the art military heleocopter that every country wanted to steal. The Capp Daddy says: here ya go, keep it safe. use it well. The Capp Daddy says: Gee thanks. what am I supposed to do with this? Shawn says: yeh...hate that The Capp Daddy says: go win the war all by myself. Trust the U.S. goverment to do the right thing with it? Shawn says: you know bush would do the right thing with it..after he forged the rings of power that is The Capp Daddy says: ya Shawn says: -here iran..here is a ring of power..heheh..hehehe... The Capp Daddy says: after he bent us all to his religious beliefs, then there would be unified peace. The Capp Daddy says: one world under one god. The Capp Daddy says: not an evil goal really. Shawn says: no..not really...could work..if you and i were in charge that is The Capp Daddy says: one world in peace chuging along until the comming of christ and the rapture. The Capp Daddy says: so, what can the smith do for Tau? The Capp Daddy says: he doesn't mention the hammer yet The Capp Daddy says: he doesn't know these folks that well Shawn says: yeh...everyone seems so nice to The Capp Daddy says: Well, they are in tall keep with griffons. doesn't seem like an evil place The Capp Daddy says: and as places go, if they are good, it seems a fairly safe place to keep such an artifact. The Capp Daddy says: do they seem genuinely nice, or nice on the surface only? Shawn says: yeh..might be bad eggs here though..i meen..the captain did seem a big disgruntal with the lord about reporting Shawn says: *dun Dun DUUUUUNNNNN* The Capp Daddy says: could just be he is a hardass commander The Capp Daddy says: and they have personality conflicts The Capp Daddy says: but two palidins who disagree are still both lawfull good guys Shawn says: true The Capp Daddy says: and it's 100% fact that griffons are always good The Capp Daddy says: right.... Shawn says: well by the monster manual The Capp Daddy says: by the word of god you mean Shawn says: hhehe Shawn says: yeh The Capp Daddy says: well, I'm here and I'm not going to go running off unless I have good reason too. The Capp Daddy says: so I talk with the smith Shawn says: k Shawn says: whatcha say Shawn says: hes all measuring you up and what not.. Shawn says: takes you into his forge which is laied out like some shirne..everything has a place and it seems significant where it is.. Shawn says: (anal retentive dwarven smith really) The Capp Daddy says: "Do you have special materials or techniques to make armor designed for flying creatures?" The Capp Daddy says: -what's your alignment? Shawn says: hehe The Capp Daddy says: -May I see your Character Sheet please? Shawn says: 'Ie, its hard cuz sometimes a critter cannot fly with heavy barding...ive seen a few that can wear full plate but usualy its the older ones that can do that..Ive had some success with mithiral although the dam metal is hard to come by in good quantities sometimes.. The Capp Daddy says: -really, it isn't too expensive in the PHB. Shawn says: Also had good luck with peice mail, leather that protects the hard to reach spots and plates that protect the squishy bits if you get my drift.. Shawn says: he smiles a bit at that joke The Capp Daddy says: "Ya, and every foe has squishy bits. Well, do you have anything on hand, or will I need to commision something?" Shawn says: he sizes you up again..'well have to run some tests..ive never seen one of your kind..have to see yeh fly to get the right aerodynamic fit for yeh..or you might find yourself listing to the left half the time..cant have that you know.. Shawn says: ..on hand? naw ill have to make something special for yeh, usualy working on barding for the griffons you see and the knights..made every set of griffon kight armor for the past 60 years..he says with pride in his voice.. The Capp Daddy says: "Good point." The Capp Daddy says: - so, a novice then, by dwarven standards. Shawn says: hehe, naw just been here for 60 years The Capp Daddy says: "Well, that is impressive. Any chance I could collect some mithral for you? do you know of any laying around where most people tend to not bother gathering it?" Shawn says: brb bathroom The Capp Daddy says: -a pile of mining till that has a 1st level goblin who people think is 5th level, so they stay away. Besides, there is only enough mitral for one suit of armor. Shawn says: back Shawn says: he thinks for a bit 'you know give me a day to ask arround and i might beable to find some that you could go pick up.. Shawn says: you cant some more and he takes you out onto a large spire...at the top the wind is blowing softly from the weast and it seems like you can see hundreeds of miles...he places a shirt with small riped peices of cloth on you and has you fly arround some...he jots things down in his book and then has you try other things...after about an hour of flight testing and right about the time your starting Shawn says: to get fatigued he calls you back..'Ok let me figure this out and ill get back to you tomorrow afternoon about what we can do here..' he seems prety excited..you imagine it might be a bit of a challange for him ... Shawn says: or perhapse its just nice to be doing something else for a change.. The Capp Daddy says: I thank him, and try not to sound as winded as I am. Shawn says: you head down a page is at the forge area and looks a bit worried like he lost something..then he sees you 'ah there you are, Captain rennis request your presance at the dining hall' Shawn says: -ie..its dinner time ..let me show you the way.. Shawn says: you follow him to dinner and see the captain along with about 30 other people all arround the table..the captain stands and introduces you to the collective bunch.. The Capp Daddy says: I follow The Capp Daddy says: so many forks! The Capp Daddy says: which do I use? The Capp Daddy says: I nod and smile Shawn says: your seeted near the captain and between a female pilot who everyone calls char Shawn says: your also next to a young half elf looking man named Dilagren.. Shawn writes: Shawn says: rest of the table is full as well just did not do in all the knots... Shawn says: knots=dots Shawn says: Dinner is probably one of the finest you have had in a while, and by the looks of it ...a bit more fancy than what is the norm arround here.. The Capp Daddy says: ok, does my placement mean anything to me? As in, 2nd to the right of the host is where you seet the one to be fed to the lions? Shawn says: From the sound of it all these people are pilots, callsigns are in place of names most of the time and all in all they seem to be a lively group Shawn says: placement you figure is a place of honor, Char is the lutennient under the captain.. Shawn says: there is a rank system, but dinner seems to be one of those times where it is a bit more loose.. The Capp Daddy says: I watch what everybody else does as far as manners and try to be polite. The Capp Daddy says: I'm probably a bit obvious that I'm uncomfortable with the finer types of meals like this. I've eaten rabbit over a camp fire for the last several months, and before that, stew in a wooden bowl and ale was good enough. Shawn says: They do a good job, their conversation is without slurs and fouwl language and stuff.. The Capp Daddy says: I refrain from telling my better jokes, the ones that make orcs laugh. The Capp Daddy says: -what's the difference between a fag elf and a food locker? The locker don't fart when you pull the meat out! Shawn says: hehe Shawn says: -you know how i know your gay...cuz your #### taste like ass.. The Capp Daddy says: Any mention of evil plans or domination of the lesser creatures? Shawn says: not that you hear off hand The Capp Daddy says: -ya. I refrain from those. The Capp Daddy says: nobody wanting to raise a draco-litch? good, I enjoy the good food and do my best to listen. Shawn says: dinner goes buy fast..a few courses and what not and after dinner everyone shakes your hand and departs.. Shawn says: the captain says, 'baker wing if you can stay behind' Shawn says: about 4 people stay behind..you all move into a side chamber and relax a bit.. Shawn says: he introduces them, This is charlette, Lance, terra and Dillian..i trust them all with my life and they are fine good pilots.. Shawn says: he sits..'tau is here for a few reasons, one of wich is that he has a special mission..seems one of our's has ben taken prisionor..' he looks at you to fill in the rest... Shawn says: -Cue Giant spot light... The Capp Daddy says: "How many of you know or have met Jack (last name)?" Shawn says: Char speaks up 'only heard of him, hes kinda a legend in his own right arround here..although there are some that are trying to upsurp him' Shawn says: -ie do better than him and be the next legend arround here..kinda competiveness... Shawn says: you find that only two people have actaly met him, the captain and dillian The Capp Daddy says: "Well, that's somethingt to strive for, so I understand. let me get to the pont...I've never been fond of idle chit chat. He's been captured and his daughter hunted. The last word I have of him suggests he's still alive, but is being torchered. I'm not sure where he is, but I have a few leads. Those who have him are very wicked and seem to have influence in many places. Possibly even here, The Capp Daddy says: how can I know? So, I came here looking for information and possilbly assistance in his rescue." Shawn says: there are some murmers as you talk..terra a elf speaks up 'Sir, I would be honored to assist,' the others speak up the same.. The Capp Daddy says: I raise a hand, 'There is more you should know. Helping him may provoke the wrath of these people or creatures. Dragons my be involved. Bad dragons." The Capp Daddy says: "They hunt me and those who aid me, and there is likely great risk involved. I do not judge any of you ill should you say no." Shawn says: i bit of a murmer..the captain speaks up 'this is a volentary assingment of course..anyone who wishes to walk...you know where the door is..for the rest of you meet me at the center spire at 0500 for advanced flight training..' the all stand and give no indication that they will not be there..' Shawn says: after they file out the captain looks at you and smiles 'Dragons eh, well that could make it more intresting for sure, now then we need to figure out where he is being kept..' you tell him about your vision, you see that in another he might question following a dream..but from you he has no doubes it came from a higher source... The Capp Daddy says: I have the repors of the memphet as well The Capp Daddy says: i tell him that too Shawn says: A castle in the snowy mountains eh..he pulls out a map of the spine and the surrounding areas..its a huge area you realize..'I would hate to tip anyone off that we are planning something by sending in recon groups, although we do perodicly fly over the spine for reasons...Raven group should be back in a few days and might have something.. Shawn says: A report from a memphet would be nice as well, he smiles...it should take as a few weeks to train up the wings for a proper assault on a castle..figure 2 wings of 5 griffons..he chats at you some about plans and what not..the weak link you realize is not knowing the location Shawn says: he seems unbothered by that at the moment though The Capp Daddy says: I'll mention that weak link The Capp Daddy says: and how a pre-mature attack could be fatal. Shawn says: he agrees with you The Capp Daddy says: "I was looking for information, sugestions, and assistance - in that order. A quick assult sounds great, the sooner we free him the better, but we can't free him if we don't know where he is. Are there that few castles in the north?" Shawn says: Its not that there are that few, its that its a prety unhospitable and poorly maped area... Shawn says: The ice dragons in that area make it hard to tavel or build any lasting structure and then you have the tribal bands of frost ogeres ... Shawn says: all in all , the perfect place to get lost The Capp Daddy says: 'Ice dragons you say, white dragons?" Shawn says: 'i dont think any of this will be easy Tau, but we will be behind you, just give us a few weeks to train up..dragons..should be intresting..' he smiels Shawn says: Ie white dragons, dam things turn everything to ice.. Shawn says: like a spider wraping a meal in silk really.. The Capp Daddy says: "They may very likely be involved, but I'm not sure. Look, between you and I, you should know that Jack's daughter is twisted up in the fates of dragons. She's likely the reason Jack's still alive, they want her. Has something to do with her mother I think." Shawn says: 'so do we know anything about her mother? might beable to use something. The Capp Daddy says: "Not a lot." I tell him what I know. that she was a palidin of (dragon) and she was killed. Shawn says: he looks at you..a bit shocked..and sits back down.. The Capp Daddy says: "She may have been a dragon rider, though I'm not sure. Sometimes, my..um...visions are a bit...cyrptic." Shawn says: 'shes about 17-18 years old or so?' The Capp Daddy says: "Jack's daugher? yes." Shawn says: ..His wife was a dragon rider of Tamara, she and her mount were killed in a battle against a great black dragon..atleast thats the story jack told everyone.. Shawn says: she must have had a daughter at some point,..no wonder he left the order.. Shawn says: probably the safest place for her...im sure the black would hunt her down if he knew about it.. The Capp Daddy says: "I've seen the hole in his armor, so I'd believe that. Now you understand the danger." Shawn says: I do..sooo...does his daughter seem to posees any of her moms abilities..i meen of a paladin. The Capp Daddy says: "It is said she does, yes." The Capp Daddy says: -growing a bit suspisious The Capp Daddy says: "how does that help us?" Shawn says: 'well..he mothers mount had a cave a few hundred miles north east of here.. Shawn says: after her mother died we never saw her mount again..figured it went there,..but decided to give it the respect of leaving it alone.. Shawn says: Her mother from the storys..was part of a long line of femal paladins in the service of Tamara..its possible that her daughter is behing handed that mantle as well..maybe her mothers mount would know though.. The Capp Daddy says: "I see. Yes. Can you give me specifics, mark it on a map? I think I'd like to visit her." Shawn says: of course..Ill have to consult the recods..but ill have it for you tomorrow The Capp Daddy says: "Thank you, that is very hepful. I must press home how sensitive this subject matter is. Don't speak of it unless you must, and only to those you trust. I take a risk in trusting anyone, but I need alies, so I must takes such risks." Shawn says: Understandable..this business with his daughter will not go beyond this room Tau.. Shawn says: -the eyes of the painting the the room seem to shift ..you look and they seem a bit less lifelike than before... The Capp Daddy says: -well you know, can only be so safe Shawn says: yeh The Capp Daddy says: -I lock myself in a box and only think thoughts of treason. Ok, the king has mind-reading psions who find you and kill you. Shawn says: hate that The Capp Daddy says: "So, I have a few things to do while you train it seems. Your smith may have something for me to fetch, and I should go speak to this dragon I think. Can I be of help to you in the meantime?" Shawn says: help? i would suggest getting some rest Tau, might not beable to get a good nights sleep soon..he smiles Shawn says: your more than welcome to come and watch the training in the morning though.. The Capp Daddy says: "Very well, sounds interesting. Oh, what did your commander wish to discuss regarding me?" Shawn says: he smiles 'ah heard that eh..well you have to realize we have not seen a child of bahamut for many generations, everytime we have though..it means that something big is going down somewhere... Shawn says: Long story short, after a bit of polite yelling back and forth about how your business here was yourown and how i was not going to but into it..he paused for a moment and told me to make sure you were acomodated well.. Shawn says: something about how the old pacts would be upheald even in these days.. Shawn says: not really sure what he was talking about but the jist was that we were supposed to help you in any way we could.. The Capp Daddy says: "Ah. It wasn't my intention to cause trouble. What old pacts? -Oh, too bad. Becoming a child of Bahamut doesnt' come with a manual and lesson history, unfortunatly." The Capp Daddy says: lisson on history The Capp Daddy says: lesson The Capp Daddy says: "there is much I don't know about the chosen, or, actualy, little I do know." The Capp Daddy says: "But I would think, knowing what I do know about Bahamut, that he would aid his followers regardless of any pact." Shawn says: I am sure such knowlage will come in time Tau..i dont know much of bahamut but i would have to agree with you..Still pacts between men and gods can be powerful things..would have to talk to one of the librarians to find out more though The Capp Daddy says: "Librarians? You hae a library here?" I say, suddenly a bit excited. The Capp Daddy says: hae = have Shawn says: Yeh, down in the lower levels, care for me to show you? Shawn says: he smiles at your excitment and leads you down to the library..its in a cooler part of the castle and you figure yo might be under ground some at this point..it is quite extensive and you realize dangrous..as you could probalby forget about everything and spend a long while pooring over tombs of knowlage... The Capp Daddy says: -that would get dull. Shawn says: yeh after a while.. Shawn says: not enough blood shead for him.. The Capp Daddy says: "I think I'll spend some time here. You are lucky to serve in such a fine place." Shawn says: It is an honor, not many are chosen.. The Capp Daddy says: "I know the feeling." Shawn says: he leaves you to your reading The Capp Daddy says: I gain ranks in lots of knowledges The Capp Daddy says: gaining lots of synergy bonuses Shawn says: The Capp Daddy says: -so, off topic for a sec..I'm working on my keep some. On the mid level, it looks like there is a small inner wall, about 5' wide by your drawing. is that like a defencive tunnel or something? The Capp Daddy says: areound the permiter The Capp Daddy says: around The Capp Daddy says: like for archers or whatever to run aound to the arrow slits? Shawn says: Inner walls for heat mostly, would be easy enough to make secret rooms there The Capp Daddy says: heat? ok Shawn says: the kinda v shaped divits are alcoves The Capp Daddy says: see , I know nothing about keep designs The Capp Daddy says: let me show you what I have so far.... Shawn says: think an insilating area The Capp Daddy sends: The Capp Daddy says: it's kina big. I'm playing with a program called dundjinni The Capp Daddy says: it's a big overkill map maker The Capp Daddy says: damn, slow Shawn says: yeh it is being a bit pokey You have failed to receive file "keep.jpg" from The Capp Daddy. Shawn says: does seem a bit overkillish..expecialy after using the easy method you came up with The Capp Daddy sends: Open(Alt+P) The Capp Daddy says: ya The Capp Daddy says: not sure I'll keep using it The Capp Daddy says: I can use many of the graphic icons in photoshop anyway. most are PNG files You have successfully received C:\Documents and Settings\Shawn\My Documents\My Received Files\keep2.jpg from The Capp Daddy. The Capp Daddy says: and it's a bit cumbersom Shawn says: yeh Shawn says: thats prety cool though..have to admit The Capp Daddy says: it looks like computer games Shawn says: yeh it does The Capp Daddy says: but it is very slow to make The Capp Daddy says: so not so good for wam-bam combat maps The Capp Daddy says: but for the keep, it's cool. Sitll not sure it's any better than photo shop. Actually, I am sure. Photoshop is better. Shawn says: yeh, looks like some nice icons for things The Capp Daddy says: ya The Capp Daddy says: their website forum has lots of art The Capp Daddy says: searchable too Shawn says: i did not spend alot of time on the keep, the midle part was the floor plan of an actual keep but i did not clean it up well or at all Shawn says: thats handy The Capp Daddy says: http://www.dundjinni.com/forums/foru...asp?FID=8&PN=1 The Capp Daddy says: ok. Shawn says: Looks good.. The Capp Daddy says: I'm just putting #### in place kind of as I think of it The Capp Daddy says: oh, I need a bath place... The Capp Daddy says: where do I have room for that Shawn says: so a kitchen and food storage room.. Shawn says: Stocks? The Capp Daddy says: ya, then the forge, baths and bathrooms. The Capp Daddy says: stocks? The Capp Daddy says: oh, the bathrooms Shawn says: stairs going down and up as well.. The Capp Daddy says: that's their outhouse icon Shawn says: let you place them wher eyou want.. The Capp Daddy says: well, the elevator didn't look like it went to the lower level Shawn says: no just to the middle level The Capp Daddy says: so you have to get down there some how The Capp Daddy says: but what I'm saying is I'm placing things as I think of them, without too much knowledge about keep design or stratagy The Capp Daddy says: I try to pay attention to it some, but I'm ignorant Shawn says: Figured stairs up and down to the other levels..thought i would let you place them though The Capp Daddy says: I can see I'll want a water pump at some point. The Capp Daddy says: hauling buckets fromt he bacement will get old fast Shawn says: all good, any advantage you have can be taken away by a strong general.. The Capp Daddy says: great... Shawn says: just the way it goes you know.. The Capp Daddy says: ya Shawn says: i meen alaxander the great defeated a 15000 man strong army with 2500 men.. Shawn says: guy had some large brass ones mind you and was a genius..but still The Capp Daddy says: Tau doesn't have the ranks in Knowledge Military Stratagy needed though. The Capp Daddy says: liked my temple placement The Capp Daddy says: light can shine in The Capp Daddy says: so later, I can make a stain glass window there The Capp Daddy says: not sure if I want to make it to a specific diety though. I mean, I'm not the only one living here. |

In regards to your chat..
- especally if I trade the magic hammer for it ya? Oh, and medium isn't out if it's mithral, that is treated as one catagory lighter. Also, should I gain the endurance feat, that may also do that. Not sure if it stacks. It might. It might be that with endurance, and mithral full plate, the armor is regarded as light. seems wrong though, but maybe. ______________________________________________ Yes if you traded the magic hammer you might get a bit of a deal..throw in the intresting forge and well..who knows.. As for armor, Mithiral drops the type by one..so mithrial half plate is light armor..full plate acts like meed...i thin kthis is all a proprety of weight...Endurance i dont belive drops the level but it would help with you flying longer and not getting fatigued.. Im kinda disapointed with some of the dragon stuff in the book..they mention feats that are not in the book and it seems there is not really a way to increace your fly speed in any way. and fly speed of 30 feet per turn is a bit off i think...i meen really any bird out there should beable to out distance someone who is walking when flying..I understand you might not be the best flyer..but it also says advrage speed for your flying ability is only 30...I also understand that whole balance stuff..So for the sake of balance but also for some added coolness im going to add these caviat onto the fly speed.. First: Your fly will increace by 10 feet every two rounds to a maximum of two times your base speed. Second: Swift Flying - with a sucessful fortitude roll you can go twice your base fly speed up to 10 rounds every day. A failed roll will cause you to become fatigued for 1d6 rounds. Also i will allow you to take feats that will add stuff to your fly, base dragon manuvers like wingover, strafe..etc..hover and the likes.. |

I don't understand your first rule, 10' every two rounds? So 5' per round? So 35' is my new speed? I figure right now, he's not going to fight much from the air. he can't hover and he needs lots of room to manuver. But I agree, the 30' thing is dumb. How far can you glide in a hang glider or a parasale in 6 seconds? More than 30'. Maybe 30' is the virtical speed?
I worked on the keep a bit more, changed a few things. I moved the temple to the western side so it gets the evening sunset. Also streamlined the halls so you don't have to walk through people's rooms just to move through the keep. I tried to keep a 10' wide hall from the elevator to the central part of the keep. This way I could move in larger things or whatever. I'm not sure how much basic furnishings are, but being that 1 silver is a day's wages, I can't imagine that basic cheap furnature would set me back too far. I also tried to have the kitchen stove and forge share a chimney. There seemd to be a general lack of heat, so i added a central fireplace. I haven't worked on the other levels much. In the basement, I want to add a cage or jail cell for the occasional prsoner I might capture. It will mostly be for storage and our water. The upper floor will be a social/game area. Probaly have dummies set up to spar on and such out on the porch. A catapolt or some kind of defence thingy up there might be in order. Mostly I just tried to figure out how 20 or so people could live in this place. it's cramped but I think I got it, (bunk beds!). Tau ofcourse gets his own room and a king sized bed to accomadate his wings. Figure Zef and Gwen could bunk together. I didn't see why I'd need more than one central stair? It's only 3 levels, and it's not a very big keep. So I just added that. I put stone doors where fire might be a danger or where I would want better security. I can see a few places for traps and secret doors, but didn't go into that too much. |

Sorry 10 feet every two levels past 6 and up to twice your base speed...figure this will show the progress of your wings gaining strength...The fly rules are prety lame in the game...advrage human walks at 5mph and runs at 12 mph..and most birds atleast double that...Your not falcon fast but i figure that in short burts you could get close. Dragons in the book seem to have a the innate ability to do certine manuvers like hover and wing over and stuff...so ill let you take some manuver feats if you want, at the moment im not seeing a problem with just lumping a few manuver things in togeter.
Anyway your flight speed will increace as time goes by. Keeps looking really nice by the way, glad to see your having fun with it. Figured i gave you alot of room to play with and to do what you want with. Also since you have the mountain side you can expand it that way if you want as well. The one thing you do notice is that there is no excape route..if someone found the door and barred it..your kinda stuck a bit... They key is having a nice flow of movement for people and supplies...while at the same time being able to defend well against an invasion force..Its obvious that they did not really have the latter in mind when they built this..although the elevator is prety defendable as you can stop it from working..This was more of a long term observation keep but can be made into anything you want or need. |

So, I got the basic layout of the Keep for now. If we can move a portal or two that would be great. I'd like to eventualy add some secret doors and maybe a secret stariway and exit. Right now, A rope off the balcony is probably my cheapest escape rout. I can just jump off, but Zef and the others can't. I can see expanding into the mountain at some point as well, but again, that takes money. Right now, Jet isn't sure how long this keep can last. They don't have any kind of army and it wasn't designed to be overly defendable. It's more of a watchtower. A dragon could easaly take it, and that's what might happen. So He's not going to make it home just yet. It seems like anytime he starts to think he could settle someplace, Janis and her lackies are closing in. So, obvioiusly some of the decorations are just for fun, and not actually what is there. (yet) And a few things could be tweeked. Where the piano is should be a fireplace and chimney carried up from below. There are too many "sitting" rooms, so i think I should make one of them a training room, (weapon dummies and the like). but it's a start.

So I am not sure how far I can push custom armor abilities. In trying to come up with stuff that might help me in flight, I basically keep reproducing feats. Can armor grant you a feat? And how much would that cost? Two ideas I like are something that helps my speed. I can see armor specially shaped for aerodynamics, maybe the links are like little wings, that ovoid shape. Maybe there are grooves that guide air around me that are less resistant somehow.
__________________Another idea is one that helps me gain altitude. It fits for scale mail better, but I'm thinking like little flaps that lay back when I fly forward, and flair out, causing drag, when I stall, (flapping) and prevent me from falling backwards. Basicaly like the little burs on the bottoms of cross country skies that help you go up hill. But these ideas are basically the same as adding a feat that increases my speed or the one that allows me to climb at no penalty. And I keep coming back to the idea that armor is meant to protect me, not help me fly. But then I think about the skin of an airplane it is there to protect AND aid in flight. So...shrug.. Another thought I had was I'm about to enter cold mountains, so cold resistance would be nice. Also, if I'm flying very high, I could use both cold and low oxygen resistance. Again, those are a bit like feats. It might be nice if the armor could cast a gust of wind or an updraft for me. That might be handy when there isn't a runway or a cliff to jump off of. Maybe I could hover for a round or two using it. I thought about the idea of the surface of my wings having folding armor plates or something that I could use as a shield in combat. Like two tower shields on my back. They would be good for arrows or using them to block a dragon's fire from a baby on the ground. I have the belt that helps me resist piercing weapons already, so that's nice. In the air, most attacks would be with arrows or things like javelins or spears, all piercing weapons. Other things that would be used against me are magic. So spell resistance is always useful, but very expensive. Too expensive for this stuff I think. So there are some of my thoughts. I could just go with +3 AC, but that seems so dull. Especially when I know you'll just balance the monsters to hit me about the same amount. If I'm still going to get hit, maybe I should have more style then. Sure, my ac is only 15, but I can loop-d-loop and blur and am immune to fire. So, ya...not really wanting to take a pure bonus to AC. This new armor should be better than my old stuff though, by at least 2AC points I think. You ever going to post man? It's been like a whole day!? |

So heres my thinking.
Yes through magic you can enchant armor to act like feats and skills and stuff however i figure a feet added to an item would be a minimum of 8-10k...Bear in mind that is a full feat that is active all the time. . i would say a feat that was able to be activated say 3 times a day would be more arround 2k or so... Really anything is possible. Lets say you better speed..you get the +2 armor..forget what i said it was but lets say 7k..so you have 5k left or so right..so lets say you can add +30 to your flight speed for 4 k..(i figure horseshoes of speed add +30 to a horses speed for 3k..) anyway..so just say what you want and ill work out something..now you might not beable to afford everything but you might beable to get part...ie ..say you only had 2k left..i would have no problem saying the flight armor could add 15feet fly speed ... I like your wing armor idea but that might be something for when you can wear heaveier armor..Although there are some spells that add protection...something like Dragonskin (SC) might be Cool for yeh..adds a enchantment bonus to natural armor equal to +1 per two levels (max +5)..also offers a energy resistance 10 against one type of energy..Its prety important so it might cost more if you want it maxed out and on all the time.. anyway...lots of posibilities Height is not going to be a really big factor for you..Oxygen really does not become to big of a factor till about 12,000 and the temp decreaces by 2 degrees celcius per 1000 feet...so its cold but not a hell of a lot colder... Your updraft idea is cool as well, could see it as a burst of flight strait up to a height between 30 and 100 feet little feats like hover or what not i think would be a bit cheeper, maybe 4-5 k again..bigger more incomacing feats would be more of course point is just say what you want and ill figure something out that works for yeh... _______________ sorry for the lack of posts..computer was off and on today |

hehe, ok, for 12k I want +5 mithral Chain. that grants me all the flight prowess and special ablities as an ancient Gold Dragon. Tell you what I want and you'll do it - jez.
__________________Ok, so that dragonskin is a cool idea, but I think it's better suited for a necklace or ring or something like that. I was chatting on the forum, and a guy told me +1 armor, +1 ring, +1 natural armor is cheaper than +3 armor. So that's something to think about. Does use up more slots though. So I get what you're saying, but I want everything. So, I want mithral +2 chain, that helps me fly faster, (seems easy to visulize to me as to how it does this- may not even need to be magical), and if I can afford it, that updraft thing usuable 1d4 times per day. that seems like a good flight armor, and that's why I came here to get it made. I was going to spend about 10k, moved it up to 12k. Then with selling my armor for 2k and working in the forge, that gives me over 14k. So if I could get more, my next choice would ether be +3 armor or that dragon skin spell enchantment. you said +2 would cost 6.5k, and +3 11k btw. |

Tao looks around at the arranged bodies of the dead giants. Is first thought is why would they, (they being Janis and her cronies), want them to look like the camp is alive and well. He is reminded instantly of hunting desert the red throated desert duck by placing painted sandstone sculptures made to look like the ducks to lure them in. Was somebody hoping Jet would return here. If so, then he has just stepped into an ambush!
__________________He looks around, and remembers he is no longer Jet'Al, but Tau. Whoever set this trap, if it is a trap, wouldn't know what to do with this dragon-born. Maybe they'd leave him be. He forms a quick story in his head he has never met these giants, but spotted the camp from the air and came here to ask a few questions about swamp Wyvern migrations and had hoped for a place to rest among them. He did his best to act as if this story were the truth. What would one do? He had a frantic urge to see if Stratton survived, but knowing that if he found his dead corps he would not be able to prevent the weeping. Even now a the thought of it, he was having trouble. They all died because of him, because he took shelter with them. He feels a little guilty for selling their gift of that sword to him. But times are hard at the moment, and practicality must give way to sentimentality. He walks around carefully, looking for what may have happened here. Were they in fact murdered, or was it some kind of sickness or poison? Were they looted? He searches for clues, while keeping his eyes and ears open for any sign of life, enemy or foe alike. Search roll = 17 Spot roll = 10 listen roll = 20 |
