Actually, some of you almost made the saving throw - in particular, paladins and gnomes get certain bonuses to their saving throws - in any case, I will add a thread somewhere giving information about making/failing saving throws for your reference.

Ah, yes... Deus ex machina, the absolute last resort of desperate PCs. :biggrin: Doesn't happen often enough, though...

However, even non-clergy PCs can afford to bring a bit of religion with them - can't hurt.

Now it's time for my thoughts, I am bothered a bit by a deus es machina just because it seems like an excuse for a desparate situation to resolve itself without any real effort. It is still the DM's decision, however, and at least he allowed a reason for it. After all, what good are gods without divine intervention?

Don't worry, there are reasons behind it, I assure you, even if they may not be apparent.

I don't like to use deus ex machina very much, either, for the same reasons you mentioned - but don't worry, you will all have plenty of chances to try your luck without the advantage of divine assistance in the Halls...

In any case, the situation was not really "desperate" persay - a few unconscious PCs, several strong fighters still alive and fighting, noone actually dead yet, the monster just about ready to kick the bucket - it was actually pretty good, I would say.

Still, prayers do sometimes get answered... but sometimes they don't. But it doesn't hurt to try...

Whats this points thing all about?
is it required? are we using it? it seems to do with the player and not the character. correct?
Should i be issuing points? if so how?
